Salute To The General
Chapter 1920

Chapter 1920

Nathan knew that some fighters and assassins from other parts of the world relied on poisoned weapons when going in for the kill, and he regretted not watching out when the Catwoman pounced onto him.

Meanwhile, Matteo continued to stay in the backline and command his troops, only stopping for a brief moment to chuckle when he noticed that Nathan was poisoned.

He had been waiting for the Chief Military Governor to show his Achilles heel, and he was not going to let such a great opportunity slip by. "Haha! Let's get him, boys! Wanda managed to poison him!" he said with an evil grin on his face. "Now's the chance to end him!"

The fighters roared enthusiastically and charged forwards immediately, their previously low morale boosted by Matteo's words.

Colin and the Elite Eight surrounded Nathan protectively, and Colin noticed immediately that Nathan had been poisoned.

Raising his sword to parry the enemy's blows, he shouted, "Sir, you've been poisoned! You should leave the battlefield now! I'll hold them back with the Elite Eight!"

"Yes, Sir, you should go back! We'll handle them!" the Elite Eight members shouted in unison.

However, Nathan knew that they would not be able to hold up for long. They were massively outnumbered, and the only way for them to win this battle was a forceful breakthrough led by Nathan.

If he left Colin and the Elite Eight behind, it would be as good as leaving them to die in the wild.

"Have you forgotten about the North Army's tradition?" Nathan asked coldly. "The recruits leave first, followed by the veterans, the lower-ranked officers and finally the general. The General of the North Army never leaves his soldiers behind! I'll keep you safe as you retreat!"

The reason why the North Army became the strongest force in Eurasia was their tradition of letting the younger and less experienced soldiers leave first during a retreat.

Only after that would the veterans be allowed to leave. The Junior officers left first, followed by the Senior officers and lastly, the Generals.

That resulted in the North Army having the highest mortality rate for Generals.

However, this made the new recruits and Junior officers in the North Army the most motivated and enthusiastic soldiers in the whole of Eurasia.

The veterans in the North Army

tended to sacrifice themselves to

give the younglings a chance to

learn and grow, and the cycle continues once the recruits blossom inte fully-fledged warriors.

As a result of that, most officers in the North Army were on the younger side compared to the other armies in Eurasia. Considering the urgency of the situation, Nathan decided to follow the tradition and let Colin and the others take their leave first. Even so, Colin refused to leave his side, and so did the Elite Eight.

"I can't just abandon you, Sir! I have my duties as the leader of the National Guards!" he shouted.

"We won't abandon you, Sir!" the Elite Eight chorused.

"Fine then!" Nathan yelled, his face red with effort. "Let's kill these filthy flies once and for all!"

"Yes Sir! We will stick with you for better or for worse!" Colin and the Elite Eight shouted.

Whipping out his sword and blinking to clear his foggy, poisoned mind, Nathan dashed towards the enemies at the speed of light.

The sunlight reflected off the blade

of his sword as it cut through the necks of about a dozen enemies, leaving their headless corpses toppling to the ground like bowling pins.

Nathan gripped his sword tightly and fought with all his might, determined to win in the race against time and the poison seeping through his veins.
