Salute To The General
Chapter 1924

Chapter 1924

Colin lowered his head and sighed. “Not so good. We lost a large chunk of our men in the Air Forceon the very first day, but the casualty rate went down sharply from then onwards. About tenthousand men perished on the battlefield... “

Nathan grimaced. “When was the last time we suffered such a loss?”

“The Xyperian forces suffered an even greater loss, Chief,” Colin said. “They lost twice as manymen as us.

“Yeah, Chief!” a member of the Elite Eight said while nodding. “The whole world knows of our victoryagainst the Xyperians and the Dragonslayer Special Troops!”

“By the way, Chief, President Woods has made sure to prevent news of your incapacitation fromreaching the ears of the media. There is no need to worry about it,” Colin added. “President Woodsis waiting for your return to Brimmopolis, Chief! He promised to bestow the title upon you officially!”

Suddenly, the door to the ward open, and in came Rupert Rothschild, who was the director of NorthArmy Hospital, as well as Fang, Destroyer and Heptakill.

“I'm glad you're awake, Chief!” Fang cried.

Nathan smiled. “Did I make you worry?”

“We were terrified, Chief,” Fang said with a sigh. “Don't you know how many Critical Illness NoticesDr. Rothschild has given us over the past two weeks?”

Nathan's eyes widened in shock. Critical Illness

Notices?

Rupert nodded. “That's right. The poison has spread to your entire body after the battle. Theaverage person would have died by then, but you hung on due to your sheer will and determination.Whenever your condition worsened, I would ask the nurse to read you your daughter's letter, andyou would magically stabilize within seconds.”

Nathan chuckled. “Looks like my condition was worse than I thought. I didn't even know thathappened.”

Suddenly, he sat up straight on his bed, as though he had been reminded of something. “You didn'tsend the Critical illness Notices to my family, did you?”

Rupert shook his head. “I didn't. President Woods has made sure to keep your injuries a secret, andeven the cabinet didn't know about it. Everyone thinks that you're just settling some post-warmatters and will return to Brimmopolis to receive your awards and official title.”

Nathan nodded. “That's great to hear.”

His position as the Chief Military Governor was not yet official, and his victory against Xyperia wouldsecure him that title once and for all.

However, that was not what he was concerned about.

He was glad that the North Army Hospital had the foresight to avoid sending Critical Illness Noticesto his family, since Penny and Queenie would have been scared to death if that had happened.

Rupert gave Nathan a simple checkup, and he was delighted to conclude that Nathan was out ofthe woods for good. “You'll just need to rest for around a month or two before you can continue withyour usual activities,” he told Nathan with a smile.

Meanwhile, back in Brimmopolis...

Garrett's shoulders sagged in relief the moment he heard that Nathan was safe and sound.

He turned to his guards and said, “Send him a coded message to return to Brimmopolis as soon aspossible for the ceremony. I need to bestow him the position of Chief Military Governor beforeanyone in the cabinet can object to it!” “Yes, Mr. President!”
