He stared in fright at Nathan and he kept muttering to himself, "That can't be... No... That can't be true..."

It was true.

Back then, Nathan was the commander-in-chief and he had been removed from his position by the Cab after just a short amount of time.

He no longer held any position and people were saying that Nathan wasn't as powerful anymore. Mr. Davier was going to get rid of him sooner or later.

Rax couldn't bring himself to accept it when he heard that Nathan was the Chief Military Governor.

Besides, if he's really the Chief Military Governor, my death wouldn't be the only result because of my failure tonight. The whole of the Goldstein family would be destroyed. If he's really the governor, he definitely has the power to annihilate the Goldstein family

Franklin patted Rax's shoulder and said, "Do you finally understand how stupid your actions are nowr

The latter's face was ashen and his heart was full of regret and despair.

If he knew that Nathan was the Chief Military Governor, he would never have dared to anger the latter even if he was beaten to death.

At that moment, Nathan walked over with Colin and Ava.

Franklin gave them a salute but he was smart enough to not address the former as the Chief

Military Governor in front of everyone. Instead, he said loudly, "Hello, General!"

In everyone else's eyes, even though Nathan's position as the commander-in-chief had been removed, his rank as the general was still maintained. That was why no one suspected anything when Franklin gave him a salute and addressed him as the General.

He asked indifferently, "Why are you here, Franklin?"

The latter instantly replied, "I was worried that something would happen to you, General. That's why I gathered the troops and rushed over to help you."

Nathan shook his head at that as he didn't see the point of it.

He then glanced at Rax and asked, "So, what last

words do you have?"

The latter immediately got onto his knees and said in a shaky voice, "I've committed a grave sin. I dare not ask you for forgiveness. But I beg that you will be merciful and give the Goldstein family another chance. Please allow my family to be able to continue living. I'll be able to rest in peace if you allow it."

Rax knew that he must die and didn't dare to beg Nathan to spare his life.

Right now, he was fearful that the latter would destroy his family and make them disappear from the face of Earth in a burst of anger.

That was why he didn't care for his own pride anymore as he begged Nathan to give the Goldstein family another chance and to not kill them.

“It's not that I can't give the Goldstein family another chance. I've already given your family countless chances previously. But how can you make sure that your family will reflect upon their actions and not cause me any more trouble in the future?" Nathan asked coldly.

"Please allow me to give the

Goldstein family a call before I kill myself as punishment," Rax said anxiously. " make them retire from the scene completely. They will not be involved in business, politics, or the military in the next thirty years. I'll make sure that they will turn all their guests away. The children in the family can only concentrate on their studies and they definitely wouldn't cause you any more trouble."

"That doesn't sound bad. But-" Nathan said calmly.

Rax couldn't stop himself from smiling when he heard the first sentence, thinking that the former had agreed to plead.

But when he heard that Nathan had added a 'but' behind, the smile on his face instantly stiffened and he said shakily, "But what, General?"

"But I'm afraid that the Goldstein family would be even more emotional when they replace out that you're dead. If that happens, they might try to sabotage me non-stop. I'll have to annihilate your family if that happens," the latter said.

Bax's expression changed

drastically. He was about to

reassure the latter when Nathan continued, "How about this? I'm sure you already realized your mistakes since you're willing to kill yourself as punishment. I won't kill you and you don't have to die. I can also give the Goldstein family one last chance. But you have to make sure that your family retires from the scene completely. If you can't do that, or if you do anything fishy, then you and your family can expect to be wiped out immediately."
