Salute To The General
Chapter 2015

Chapter 2015

Raida exited the cafe with his phone pressed against his ear.

Wandering to a secluded area, he looked around to ascertain that nobody saw him. "No time like the present to run," he muttered to himself. Without even a thought for his two injured bodyguards in the cafe, he attempted his escape.

A few steps later, a figure appeared suddenly in front of him.

Before Raida could slow down, he collided into the figure.

It was as dense as a concrete pillar. Raida shook his head to reorient himself.

Don't people watch where they're going nowadays?

He looked up to yell at that figure but froze in shock as he realized that he was one of Sophia's bodyguards. The one with the eyepatch. "You!" he screamed, turning pale.

Eyepatch watched him with amusement. "Chief Military Governor, you're leaving already?"

"Why are you leaving without saying goodbye to Ms. Davier? That's a little rude, don't you think?"

Eyepatch reached out and grabbed Raida firmly by the elbow and dragged him along.

"Get in," he said roughly as he shoved Raida into Chronosphere Coffee House.

Raida found himself face to face with Sophia

Davier again.

"You were right, Ms. Davier," Eyepatch said in a low voice to her. "He tried to give us the slip after his phone call, but I caught him." Sophia's eyes were filled with disappointment.

"Mr. Khaiden, you've hurt and let me down. How could you lie to me."

"Do you know what happens to men who lie to me?"

Raida's face grew ashen. "I wasn't going to leave, I had to pee really badly."

"Enough." Sophia silenced him.

"Eyepatch, take this scum to the back alley and send him on his way."

"Yes, Ms. Davier," Eyepatch leered in delight at Raida with his one good eye, as he grabbed Raida.

I'm a dead man, Raida thought as the color drained from his face.

At this point, there came a deep rumbling from the street.

A crowd of pedestrians burst in, exclaiming loudly, "The military is here! The town is surrounded!"

Sophia was shocked.

She hurriedly stopped Eyepatch and walked over to the window to peer outside.

At a distance, military jeeps and terrain vehicles could be seen. They were armed with large guns and cannons, which was a terrifying sight to

behold.

A drone of marching footsteps echoed up the street at the same time. A platoon of masked warriors toting a sub-machine gun approached.

Sophia was awed by the sight, which was not something she saw every day.

"It's the Felidae Battalion!" Sophia cried.

She whipped around. “Mr. Khaiden,” she exclaimed delightedly. "You really are the Chief Military Governor! The Felidae Battalion is here!"

"I was mistaken earlier and I apologize. You really are him. You are too amazing."

Raida felt and looked stupefied, hardly daring to believe his sheer luck today.

What is going on?I'm not the Chief Military Governor, and was definitely on the phone with the operator today, not the Felidae Battalion. How was it possible that they showed up and surrounded the place anyway?Unless...He didn't dare to admit that he was not the Chief Military Governor at this point. But he'd come this far. Might as well follow it to the end.

Raida put on an expression of polite puzzlement. "It's nothing," he said "As long as Ms. Davier still replaces honor in my word, it does not matter."

As his words fell, three thousand members of the elite Felidae Battalion had the street surrounded.

A man dressed in the uniform of a General jumped down from a jeep.

Drawing his pistol, the General

shouted, "Who is brazen enough to harm the Chief Military Governor? I, Sage Tomlinson will personally hold him responsible. Brothers, after me."
