Salute To The General
Chapter 2016

Chapter 2016

Sage led his entire platoon and marched towards the cafe with vigor and menace.

He had just received the news that somebody from the Davier family intended to harm the Chief Military Governor.

Upon hearing that, he hurriedly assembled three thousand men and roused their bloodthirsty rage to come to the location of Chronosphere Coffee House.

Just as he was about to storm the cafe, his phone rang.

Sage stopped and signaled for his men to do the same.

The number on his phone belonged to the captain of the National Guard. Sage hastened to

answer it.

The angry voice of Colin Dunne filled his ears. "Sage, what are you doing?" Colin yelled. "Who gave you the authority to summon the Felidae Battalion and lead them out onto the street?"

"I just got word. Somebody wanted to harm the Chief Military Governor."

“It's a tiny matter!" Colin shouted. "The Chief Military Governor would be able to handle it himself. Your assistance is not needed! Storming the platoon up and down the street for a minor issue. You will be charged for public disturbance!"

“I... I..." Sage stuttered in self defense.

"The Chief Military Governor wants you to stand down, and you'd better do it fast before the townspeople get upset."

"I will do as the Chief Military Governor orders.

Since he's no longer in harm, this won't be necessary.

He ended the call and turned around. "Men, I've received orders for us to stand down."

"Stand down!"

The three thousand men retreated as quickly and orderly as they assembled.

Several minutes later, the street showed no sign of ever having the military on them.

Sophia stood flabbergasted in the cafe.

They were here, but why did they retreat without doing anything?

"Sir, why did they retreat?" Sophia turned to look at Raida.

Raida was sweating profusely in an effort to wriggle his way out of this one.

With his hands behind his back, Raida stood up. he said, "Ms. Davier, you didn't believe that I was the Chief Military Governor, did you?" He was looking pleased with himself.

"So I made a call and brought the Felidae Battalion to you, to prove that I am who I said I am. And since I proved my point, I've sent them back to prevent the people from being alarmed."

That explains it! Sophia widened her eyes in comprehension.

She gazed at Raida, her doubts silenced. She smiled saucily at him and resume her flirtatious behavior.

“Oh, Mr. Khaiden,” she giggled. “Forgive me for misunderstanding you. Please accept my

sincerest apologies."

Raida felt mollified at the attention

he was receiving. He was well aware

that he is still impersonating a high-ranking military official. His deception could be exposed at any given time.

It's better to run while the going's good.

“Well then,” Raida smiled pleasantly. "If it isn't an issue, I'd still really like to relieve my bladder.

Excuse me."

As he was walking towards the washroom, Sophia ran up next to him.

"Mr. Khaiden, let me escort you." Sophia winked.

"Escort me?" Raida's eyes widened.

"That's right," she purred. "I'll wait on you."

She thinks that I am the Chief Military Governor, and she's trying to seduce me to climb the social ladder. Should I accept her proposition?

He gritted his teeth. Like they say, no guts, no glory Let's do it!

Half an hour later, Raida emerged from the washroom with Sophia.

He was looking satisfied and she was blushing crimson.

Sophia hugged his arm intimately. "Chief Military Governor," she said coyly. "After today, you have to be responsible for me. And we have to punish Nathan. Mobilize your army later and let's destroy him.
