Salute To The General -
Chapter 2064
Chapter 2064
Shae stared at Nathan, looking overly pleased with herself.
Her eyes seemed to mock him. Oh, Nathan. Weren't you bragging that someone would compliantly give you the painting? Do you expect General Tomlinson to surrender such a valuable piece of artwork to you? Or are you hoping to receive it from the Chief Military Governor? Who do you think you are? You're a disgrace to society!
Penny seethed with rage when she heard how Shae publicly shamed her husband.
Nathan, on the other hand, appeared unruffled, as if victory was on the horizon.
Taken aback by Shae's bold taunts, Sage paused momentarily before laughing boisterously. "Ah, so it turns out that General Cross is also a fan of Wyland Huck's work. In that case, please accept this abstract painting as a gift from me, General."
What?
Shae was stupefied by the turn of events.
Penny, too, was dumbfounded, and she gaped at Sage in disbelief.
I can't believe Nathan's words actually came true! Someone actually gave him the painting of their own accord!
Sage took the painting and proffered it to Nathan. His mannerism was one of utter obeisance.
Just as Nathan prepared to accept the gift, a shrill voice pierced the air.
"Wait!" Shae shrieked.
Fuming, she stormed up to Sage and stopped him. "General Tomlinson, are you really going to give this painting to Nathan?" she screeched.
Sage remained impassive as he reasoned, "This painting is a gift to me, so I have the right to do what I want with it. I wish to give this painting to General Cross. Is there a problem with that?"
"Yes!" Shae bellowed.
"And what would that be?" Sage feigned ignorance.
Shae's voice was cold and dripping with malice. "General Tomlinson, are you really that oblivious, or is this just an act?"
"I really have no idea. Please enlighten me, Ms. Shae," was Sage's calm response.
Ire coursed through Shae's veins.
Fury won over reason as she ranted, "General Tomlinson, as I'm sure you know, this abstract painting was a gift to the Chief Military Governor But for some reason, it disappeared and ended up at Ghost Auction House. I brought this painting to you in hopes that you would present it to the Chief Military Governor. The painting is meant for the Chief
Military Governor. How dare you give it to someone else!"

Sage chuckled. "So you're telling me that this painting isn't for me? Do I look like a mailman to ?"
Feeling awkward, Shae fell silent.
Sage continued, "It doesn't matter. Even if the painting belongs to the Chief Military Governor, I guarantee that he would agree to give it to General Cross."
"How dare you speak on the Chief Military Governor's behalf!" Shae was exasperated.
"If you think that I'm lying, you're welcome to visit the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor and ask for his opinion personally," Sage retorted.
"Now, you have two choices. Since
you've claimed that this painting is a

gift for the Chief Military Governor, I'll give it to General Cross on his behalf. If you're upset with my decision, you can choose not to give
it to the Chief Military Governor and
take the painting back."
Shae could not retract her words as it had already been made known that the painting was a gift for the Chief Military Governor.
If she took the painting back, she would leave a horrible impression. Then, all hopes of marrying the Chief Military Governor would be dashed, making it near impossible for the Daviers to ally with him.
"As I said, the Davier family has given the painting to the Chief Military Governor, and I will not go back on my word. However, when meet
et the Chief Military Governor, I will be sure to tell him that you gave his gift away without his consent," Shae spat through gritted teeth.
"Be my guest," Sage said, unperturbed by her threats.
With that, he deferentially passed the abstract painting to Nathan.
Nathan accepted the gift and quirked his lips as he spoke to Shae, “Sorry to disappoint you, but the painting is mine now."
Shae quivered in anger.
How frustrating! This is so infuriating!
Shae had intentionally brought up Nathan's boasts to humiliate him in front of a crowd.
To her dismay, Sage had disregarded the Daviers' reputation and promptly offered the painting to Nathan.
Shae was on the verge of exploding in anger.
Penny looked at Nathan curiously as she wondered, How did he do that?
