Salute To The General
Chapter 2100

Chapter 2100

Unfortunately, Clifford didn't take it that way.

It seemed to him that Garrett was showing partiality for Nathan.

Feeling displeased, Clifford raised his voice as he retorted, "President Woods, it is not me who is going too far, but Nathan.

"My children all died because of him. Not only that, my ex-wife's family came down in the world after Nathan forced them to relinquish power.

"He even killed my younger brother! It was the first time Scout ever returned to the country after leaving for more than twenty years. I didn't even get to meet him because Nathan killed him.

"President Woods, please do not cover up for him. Please strip him of his military title and

leave him in my hands."

Garrett mulled over his words for a while.

With a troubled expression, he said, "Mr. Davier, you are a much-respected Cab secretary, and you have countless students and followers all around the country. By right, I should listen to you, but..."

Clifford knitted his brows. "But what?"

Garrett reminded him, "But you seem to have forgotten that I only have control over economy-related matters. I have no say in the military.

"I have no power to strip Nathan of his military title.

"To do so, you need to turn to the Chief Military Governor.

"If he agrees, then I'll have no objection."

Internally, Garrett shook his head and sneered, Nathan himself is the Chief Military Governor. How is it possible that he would agree to strip his own military title?

Clifford was left in a daze at the President's words.

That was only when he recalled that the President indeed was not in charge of the military.

Yet, he insisted, "Even though you have no say in the military, you are still the president of the country. If you give your order, no one will dare to object to it. President Woods, please deprive Nathan Cross of his military title."

With slyness in his eyes, Garrett suggested, "Let me write a letter to the Headquarters of the

Chief Military Governor.

It is up to the Chief Military Governor to decide.

"It's inappropriate of me to overstep my authority since he holds the highest position in the military.

"After all, it will do the government no good if I come into conflict with him. What do you think, Mr. Davier?"

Having no choice, Clifford could only agree with Garrett.

Before he nodded his agreement, he said, "President Woods, I have another request."

Go on.

Clifford stated, "The conflict between the Davier family and Nathan is irreconcilable. I hope you won't interfere. Let us deal with it in our own way. "Must the two of you fight to the bitter end?" Garrett asked.

Clifford was resolute. "President Woods, please understand me and promise you won't take either side."

Hearing that, Garrett uttered, "I can't stop the two of you from fighting, but I won't allow it if it disrupts the functioning of the government.

"I can only give you a month to settle your conflict.

"During that period, I will turn a blind eye to the clashes between the two of you.

"After a month, I want everything back to normal."

A cold glint flashed across Clifford's eyes. “A month is more than enough of time for me to get rid of Nathan Cross."

With that, he left the White House.

Although he didn't manage to persuade the President to strip Nathan of his military title, at least he obtained the President's promise to not side with any one of them.

With his power and influence in the government, Clifford believed it would be an easy feat for him to get rid of Nathan, provided that the President remained neutral

After Clifford left, Paisley re-entered the study room.

She asked softly, “So, Mr. Davier is going to wage a war on Nathan?"

Garrett nodded. "Yes. He is blinded by hatred, and he is determined to kill Nathan."

Paisley couldn't help feeling worried. "When will the fight end?"

"Pretty soon," Garrett answered, "Everything will be back to normal after a month."

Then, he called his trusted royal guard in and instructed, "Tell the

Chief Military Governor to keep their conflict between them and don't

bring it to the government. The ne

must solve the conflict within a month. I want everything back to normal after that."

"Yes, President Woods!"
