Salute To The General -
Chapter 2101
Chapter 2101
Clifford left the White House. Without wasting a second, he went on his way to the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor to see the Chief Military Governor himself, the President's letter in his hand.
The Chief Military Governor might be the top military commander, but I am the cab secretary I am in no way inferior. Plus, I'm holding a letter from the President himself that suggests the removal of Nathan from his military ranks. The Chief Military Governor definitely will not defy the President and I. Nathan Cross will finally be fired from his position. Once Nathan is revoked, he'll be a commoner-a nobody, then he can no longer command someone to be killed or executed merely by the power of his tongue.
However, never in his wildest imagination, did he ever expect to have his plans foiled upon the
arrival at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor.
Sage, the head of administrations within the Headquarters, welcomed Clifford courteously.
However, instead of letting him in, Sage stopped him from taking a further step beyond the reception room. "Apologies, Mr. Davier, but it's too late now to see the Chief Military Governor. It's one in the morning! The Chief Military Governor has fallen asleep. Even if you demand to see him, he might not want to see you until morning. I'd advise you to come tomorrow, Mr. Davier," Sage said politely.
Tomorrow?
Clifford's expression darkened upon hearing those words, fuming.
The Chief Military Governor is the top military commander, I am the cab secretary. We are all of the same rank in the hierarchy. How dare he refuse to see me? Why should I come here again tomorrow to confer with the Chief Military Governor? Do I have to grovel at his feet before he's willing to see me?
With fury lacing his voice, he commanded Sage, "Cut the bullsh*t and just announce my arrival."
"As you wish, sir," Sage gave a curt bow. "However, do be warned that if the Chief Military Governor is enraged, I shall not be responsible." "Go," Clifford coldly responded.
In the bedroom of the Chief Military Governor in Cosmos Suite of Headquarters, Nathan and Penny were ready to call it a night when they heard Sage arriving outside their door, announcing the arrival of Mr. Davier.
Nathan despised being interrupted in his sleep. The disturbance-by Clifford, nheless-was more than enough to tick him off. Enraged, Nathan hollered, "GET LOST!"
Poor Sage was startled and scurried away on the double.
Upon Sage's return to the reception room, Clifford inquired immediately, "So? What did the Chief Military Governor say?"
Adverting his eyes from Clifford's gaze, Sage answered, The Chief Military Governor only said two words."
Impatient, Clifford snapped, "Well, what is it?
Spit it out!"
Sage took a deep breath and bellowed, "GET LOST! all the while mimicking Nathan's furious voice.
Clifford, along with his men, were all stunned in silence, dumbfounded.
Clifford turned red instantly, humiliated and furious.
Seeing the exasperation on Clifford's face, Sage was secretly pleased.d told you so. "That was what The Chief Military Governor said, word for word," he replied calmly and respectfully.
"I did tell you, Mr. Davier, that the Chief Military Governor does not like being disturbed. You were the one who refused to listen." Sage continued, amused.
Regardless of how calm and collected Clifford usually carried himself, he lost his temper as he felt his blood pressure rise. "How vulgar! What a disgrace..." he fumed.
Worried that Clifford's words might provoke the
Chief Military Governor, Clifford's men advised him one after another to leave and return to the Headquarters tomorrow.
With no other choice, Clifford left the Headquarters with his men.
The following morning, Queenie wanted to visit the Royal Museum.
To satisfy her wish, Nathan allowed Penny and Kylie, along with Colin, Ava, and the forces of the Elite Eight, to accompany Queenie.
Nathan himself started towards his office as the Chief Military Governor. He changed into the phoenix military coat and put on the Leviathan Mask, ready to start the day.
Sage came into the room with a cup of tea and placed it on Nathan's desk.
“Anything interesting or out of the ordinary?”, Nathan asked, his eyes not leaving the documents presented to him.
Sage smiled, "Every document regarding the ins and outs of the military will be placed on your desk every day, sir."
"However,” he continued after a beat, "there is something intriguing."
Nathan paused what he was doing and glanced at Sage. "What is it?" Nathan asked.
Sage smiled in reply. "Your thirtieth birthday, sir," he grinned. "It's at the end of this month."
"You are the Chief Military Governor,
a strong shelter and pillar of the
nation," Sage started. "Elijah Lowe, the Commander-In-Chief of the East; Zach Hill, the Commander-In-Chief of the South; Lucas Ziegler, the Commander-In-Chief of the West; Fang, the Commander-In-Chief of the North; as well as Will Long, the Commander-In-Chief of S Brimmopolis Capital Garrison, had proposed a birthday celebration with everyone in the military on your
behalf," he continued. "Is that
feasible, sir?" Sage asked.
To his bewilderment, Nathan shook his head firmly in response. “No,” Nathan declared.
"Inform them, never use my name
for any celebration, not now, not
ever. Moreover, it is strictly
forbidden to use up the resources of the military for something
non-profitable." "Yes, sir!" replied Sage without delay.
