Salute To The General -
Chapter 2234
Little Amos, or Amos Bale, used to be one of Nathan's National Guard. He was actually the backup captain Nathan had in mind.
Amos trained hard at camp and had followed Nathan through thick and thin.
When Nathan was a mid-ranked military officer and was a little depressed, Amos lifted his spirit by saying, "Oh, c'mon. Chin up. I'm sure you'll become the commander someday."
Nathan was in the army for a while, but he never even thought about being the commander or a hero.
However, his pal, Amos, kept sharing incredible stories about Nathan and did everything for Nathan's sake.
In fact, Amos was the one who thought of the title "God of War" for Nathan.
That was why Nathan had always cared for and trained Amos well.
Unfortunately, a military operation went awry, and a bullet tore through Amos' leg, turning him into a cripple. That forced Amos to leave the battlefield.
Nathan hadn't heard anything from Amos after the latter was discharged.
The former never would have dreamed that they would meet again like that. He certainly didn't know that Amos' life had been that difficult.
Amos was surprised as well. He didn't expect to see the man he admired the most.
There was a time when Amos would brag to everyone and claim that he was a National Guard who served with the God of War. Heck, Amos would paint that message in the sky if he could.
That had since changed. After Amos got discharged from the military, he stopped telling anyone that he used to work with Nathan. The last thing he wanted was to embarrass the God of War or accidentally tarnish the guy's name.
That was why Amos' first instinct waste run away when he saw Nathan there.
Unfortunately, a figure showed up and blocked his path.
Amos tilted his head up and realized that the person blocking his path was none other than
Nathan himself.
The latter demanded, "What the hell? Why did you run as soon as you see me there? Do you not recognize me or do you just simply hate me?"
Amos cried immediately after. He gritted his teeth and replied, "You are the man I admire the most, and being your subordinate is the best job I ever had, so why would I hate you?"
Nathan complained, "Then why did you run?"
Amos kept his head down and answered, "I have fallen so far, and I am too embarrassed to face you, General."
Colin and the Elite Eight caught up by then.
Colin immediately cussed, "Little Amos, dude, weren't you a total loudmouth when we're serving together? How did someone as smart as you end up in this state?
"I mean, it's fine that you're broke, but how could you pretend to not know us? Oh, you annoying little brat!"
Nathan stared at Amos, who had dirty clothes on and looked like he was in the lowest social circle. The former reached out to help the latter button-up, and as he did so, he asked, "Did you murder anyone after you got discharged?"
Amos was taken aback. He quickly replied, "I would never do that, General."
Nathan then asked, "Did you become a thief, a con man, or do anything to break any laws?"
Amos was so angry that his face turned red. He loudly announced, "General, I am a soldier of the North Army, and I will never do anything illegal or tarnish the North Army's reputation."
Nathan smiled and replied, "Let's see. You're not a convict, have been doing the righteous thing, and are a hero who was honorably discharged from the army. Yep, you absolutely have no right to say that you embarrass your general. You certainly are not allowed to feel too embarrassed to face him."
Amos bulged his eyes upon hearing that. Tears rolled down his cheeks soon after.
Stomp!
Amos suddenly stood up straight and saluted Nathan in the proper military way. The former then shouted, "I, Amos Bale, am here to greet
the general.'
Nathan stood up straight as well and saluted back.
Colin and the Elite Eight chuckled and said, "That's more like it. Come on, Little Amos. It doesn't matter how poor you are. We'll always be friends."
Nathan laughed as well. "They're right. This is such a great opportunity. Let's go get a drink together."
Nathan and the others were still talking about the drink when some mean-looking bullies showed up from around the corner.
Their leader was a man with a pair of tiny eyes, and his tone was evil when he said, "Hah, you stupid cripple. If you have the money to go drink with your friends, then you have the money to pay your debt. Stop playing games with me or I will break your other leg!"
Nathan, Colin, and the others might tease Amos and call him Little Amos, but they cared about the guy.
In fact, when they heard that bully calling Amos a cripple, their gaze instantly turned evil.
