Salute To The General
Chapter 2296

At that moment, a handsome man in a black shirt and boots came out with his subordinates from the building.

One could see some tattoos on the man's neck and arms. Surprisingly, there was even a tattoo of a national flag drenched in blood on the left side of his face. He was none other than Tim Teaman, the Lone Star.

Penny felt that Tim looked composed when he came out. However, he became emotional the moment he saw Nathan.

After rushing toward Nathan, Tim stood straight, bowed, and choked out, "General!"

With a huge smile on his face, Nathan quickly grabbed Tim's hand and said, "My dear friend, how long has it been ever since we met the last time?"

Tim reported, "General, it has been two years, three months, and twelve days!"

Nathan was stunned upon hearing it.

After coming to his senses, Nathan replied, "You remember it well. But still, you've never once visited me since you left the army.

"I guess you won't pay me a visit if I don't come to Jetroina by coincidence?"

Tim lowered his head and said apologetically, "I brought bad luck to many comrades in the army. That is why I dare not get any closer to you. After all, I'll be dead meat if I bring any bad luck to you.

"General, I've been having a vegan diet and meditating for the past three days before meeting you today. I even asked a monk in Jazona to set up an altar to perform a religious ritual to seek blessings from the gods." Nathan replied in annoyance, "How feudal and superstitious! Only fools would believe in the nonsense about you being a jinx."

At that, Tim lowered his head and remained silent.

Initially, Tim refused to believe that he was a jinx. Nonetheless, as more and more of his family members and friends passed away, he eventually accepted it.

Nathan said calmly, "I've experienced and survived numerous battles. Why should I worry about some superstitious belief?

"Since even the strongest enemy couldn't kill me, how could you possibly jinx me?

"I'm the only person who can control my destiny, so don't worry about me."

Gritting his teeth, Tim said, "General, I understand that you're outstanding, and no one can ever be your match on the battlefields. However, you don't have to put your life at risk!" Unperturbed, Nathan glanced at Tim and replied, "I don't think I'm taking any risk by being close to you.

Besides, do you think I'm here only to visit you?"

Upon hearing it, Tim was startled and stared at Nathan.

The next moment, Nathan said, "It's not easy to train talents for the country. Moreover, you're indeed a rare talent in the army.

"It was a pity to see the top soldier of the North Army stoop so low in the underworld ofjetroina.

"Furthermore, we need talents now, so if you're willing to accept my offer, please come back with me to serve in the army.

"The army is where you can shine. On the other hand, fighting others like a gangster doesn't serve you any

purpose.

Tim felt slightly touched when he heard Nathan's offer.

In Jetroina, Tim was already a successful figure with a few hundred subordinates. Besides, he lived a comfortable life, for he received a large sum of income from many illicit sources. However, it wasn't Tim's desire to become a boss in the underworld.

Instead, he wished to become a soldier and fight in battles. Also, he dreamed of standing on the stage to accept a Hero's Medal given by the country.

His ambition was to become a revered general. When he finally retired and returned to his hometown, he wanted his grandparents, uncles, and aunts to know that he wasn't a jinx but the pride of their family.

Despite living in Jetroina for quite some time, he had never forgotten his dream of returning to the army.

Hence, Tim almost felt like agreeing to Nathan's invitation as soon as he heard it.

Nonetheless, Tim forcefully suppressed his desire when he

remembered that many comrades died because of him.

After taking a few deep breaths, Tim looked up and muttered, "General, you know that I can't return to the army. I can't bear watching any other comrades die because of me anymore."

Unperturbed, Nathan responded, "I said that those were accidents. You're not the Lone Star, and no one died because of you.

"Well, I'll stay in Jetroina for a few days.

"During these days, I'll stay at your place to replace out if you can indeed jinx me!"

Tim was shocked once Nathan finished. "General, you can't do this."

Although Tim advised him against it, Nathan argued coldly, "It has been decided. Nevertheless, let's make a deal in advance. If I'm still alive and well when I go home, it proves that the accusation about you being the Lone Star is nonsense and without basis. Therefore, you have to go back with me to serve in the army and let go of your business in the underworld."
