Salute To The General
Chapter 2391

The Norris residence, a cluster of ancient but magnificent-looking buildings, sat on top of a mountain in the West. Reading an old chess manual in the study was an elderly man in a black outfit.

He was the Patriarch of the Norris family, Raphael Norris.

Besides his fascination with the board game, the man was also interested in combat arts and alcoholic drinks.

A female servant was playing the harp while Raphael perused his reading material.

He was already sucked into the book when Ash's rapid footsteps suddenly distracted him.

After hurrying into the study, the family butler bowed respectfully to Raphael. "Sir-"

With his eyes still glued to his book, Raphael lifted his hand and gestured for Ash to stop talking. "I don't care how urgent it is. It'll have to wait until I'm done reading."

Ash had no choice but to stand aside and wait until he was ready to listen to him.

Half an hour later, Raphael finally set his reading material aside before exclaiming, "What an amazing read! The way the author sets his opponent up to react exactly the way he wanted is just mind-blowing!" The man then let out a long sigh of satisfaction before turning to the butler. "So, what was it that you wanted to tell me?"

With his head lowered, Ash answered softly, "Mr. Hubert has returned to Brimmopolis, sir."

Raphael was slightly shocked when he heard the butler. "So soon? He's supposed to represent our family in congratulating the general. Did he somehow offend the man or something?"

"No, sir. General Quillen is glad that we've decided to support him. But..."

"But what?" questioned Raphael with a frown.

"Mr. Hubert was involved in a scuffle and got his left leg broken."

"What?" yelled Raphael before jumping to his feet.

Snap!

The female servant playing the harp was so shocked that she accidentally broke a string.

With the soothing music gone, the room was suddenly filled with intense silence.

"Do people think we've become weak just because we've been keeping to ourselves? How dare anyone lay a finger on one of us! I want a name now! Who was it that injured Hubert?" inquired Raphael.

"It's the former Commander-in-Chief of the North Army, Nathan Cross.

He's also known as the God of War," informed Ash, trembling in fear.

Nathan? Raphael raised a brow curiously when he heard the name.

Even though the Norris family led a reclusive life, they still paid attention to the national events. Hence, it was only natural that he had heard of Nathan.

Raphael's anger somehow died down after hearing that the God of War was responsible.

Although Raphael and his family were not afraid of Nathan, they knew better than to mess with the well-decorated ex-commander. He might've been pushed to the sidelines, but that doesn't mean he's any less dangerous. It would be a bad idea to cross someone like him over something so petty. Raphael was about to let the matter slide when Ash added, "The man did more than just injuring Mr. Hubert..."

"Breaking my grandson's leg isn't enough for him? The nerve on this guy! Out with it! What else did he do?" asked Raphael with his brows furrowed even tighter.

"Nathan said that Mr. Bryson took advantage of Cecilia of the Windsor family and demanded that he make it up to her in three days. Otherwise, he'll break both of his legs before dragging him to Ms. Windsor's place to make the apology." "What?" Raphael got so furious that he violently slammed his palm down on the table. "Just who the heck does he think he is threatening our family like that! I thought his beef was with Hubert, so why did he demand Bryson for an apology?"

With his head still lowered, Ash replied, "Mr. Bryson met Ms. Windsor while he was traveling abroad, and the two dated for a while before he decided to break it off. However, Ms. Windsor refused to end the relationship. She even threatened to take her own life if Mr. Bryson left her. Eventually, Ms. Windsor ended up in the hospital, so the Windsors got upset with Mr. Bryson. Nathan only demanded an apology because he wanted justice for the family."

"No matter how Nathan puts it, the matter should be between the two lovers. How does it concern an outsider like him? That man must think he's the President or the Chief Military Governor with that kind of attitude! Order Bryson to come home immediately. Let's see if Nathan really has the guts to show up at our doorstep in three days."

"Yes, sir."
