Salute To The General
Chapter 2411

When Colin woke up the next day and got to know that he was drugged by an intruder who tried to attack Nathan, the man was both shocked and furious at the same time. However, he was glad that Nathan had reacted promptly and killed the assassin instead.

"General, we have to catch the person who hired that assassin. He has to be punished severely!" Colin exclaimed angrily.

Nathan replied placidly, "I've already asked Sage to look into the matter. I'm sure he will have updates for us very soon."

After a moment of hesitation, Kylie said, "Nathan, I originally intended to stay for a few more days. However, since you have so much to deal with, I don't want to stay and trouble you. I've decided to return to Channing tomorrow morning." "All right. I'll cook some of my signature dishes for your farewell dinner tonight," Nathan replied.

That afternoon, Nathan instructed the housekeeper to get the necessary ingredients before he started preparing dinner.

The man made a few exquisite dishes and was ready to have dinner with Kylie and Colin when Sage arrived at the villa.

It turned out that Sage had been investigating the mastermind behind Nathan's assassination attempt since the previous night, mobilizing most of his men. As he had just gotten some updates, he rushed over to report his replaceings to Nathan at once. When he saw that the man was getting ready for dinner, it suddenly dawned on him that he had arrived at an inappropriate time.

As such, he quickly said, "General, please go ahead with your dinner. I'll wait in the living room."

Nathan replied with a smile, "There's no need for that. I guess you haven't had dinner yet? Why don't you join us?"

The day had been extremely busy for Sage, and he had indeed not eaten anything for the entire day.

He only realized he was hungry when Nathan asked him to join them for dinner.

However, as Nathan was still his superior who held the top position in the military, Sage did not dare to share the dining table with him. "No, no. It's fine. I'm not hungry. General, please go ahead!" the man replied. Right after he finished his sentence, his stomach started growling in protest.

Nathan and the rest could not hide their smile when they heard the sound.

Meanwhile, a blush of embarrassment spread across Sage's face.

Nathan laughed and said, "Magda, get Sage a plate and a set of cutlery." "Yes, Mr. Cross," the housekeeper answered at once.

Sage had no choice but to comply and sit down.

"When I was with the North Army, my subordinates and I ate together during meals too. As such, you don't have to be so tense. Just make yourself at home and enjoy the dinner," Nathan said smilingly. Both Colin and Sage could not help but feel emotional when Nathan asked them to make themselves at home. That meant that the Chief Military Governor was treating them like his family!

Nathan continued, "Actually, this is a farewell dinner for my cousin-in-law. She will be returning to Channing tomorrow."

Sage quickly replied, "I see. General, there's wine in the trunk of my car. I'll go get it right now."

The man headed out immediately after he finished speaking. A while later, he returned with a carton of South Army Special Wine.

"This is a toast to you, General, and also to Ms. Tonkins and Colin," Sage raised his glass after opening a bottle of wine and filling everyone's glasses.

Everyone else brought their glasses up for a toast.

Seeing that Sage had proposed a toast to Nathan, Colin followed suit and filled everyone's glasses before saying, "Let me also toast you, General. Here's to you too, Sage and Ms. Tonkins." Nathan and the rest raised their glasses once more.

After that, it was Kylie's turn. She lifted up her glass of wine to toast everyone.

Noticing that the woman's face was already flushed from the previous two glasses of wine, Nathan immediately stopped her. "Kylie, if you can't hold your alcohol well, why don't you toast with tea instead?"

Kylie pouted and replied, "That would lack sincerity. I'm fine. Let's just drink. If I'm really drunk, I can always head back to my room and rest."

Colin and Sage cheered simultaneously when they heard the woman's words, admiring her tough spirit, which proved that she was not inferior to men.

Kylie raised her glass with a smug expression and looked at Nathan.

As such, Nathan had no choice but to let her have her way.

Their dinner lasted for two hours.

At the end of it, Kylie was already drunk.

Nathan ordered the two housekeepers to take Kylie back to her room on the second floor, but in her drunken state, Kylie seemed to possess exceptional strength. She pushed the two servants away, and reeking of alcohol, she said, "I don't want them to send me back to my room. Nathan, I want you to take me back instead."

What?

The two housekeepers looked at Nathan strangely when they heard that.

Colin and Sage looked down immediately, pretending that they had not heard anything.

However, just like the two servants, both men were extremely shocked when they heard what Kylie said. Everyone could not help but wonder if there was an unusual relationship between the woman and Nathan.

Feeling slightly helpless, Nathan chided Kylie, "Don't throw a tantrum. Magda will send you back to your room. You're drunk."

That backfired on Nathan. After he finished speaking, Kylie, who was as drunk as a skunk, raised her voice at once and said, "I'm not drunk. I'm completely clear-headed, and I know everything. I even know that you ripped my dress apart last night..." F*ck! Nathan almost fainted when he heard that.
