Salute To The General -
Chapter 2410
Without hesitation, Nathan carried Kylie out of the bathroom and ripped the top of her dress apart to reduce the pressure on her chest to make it easier for her to breathe. After that, the man started performing CPR on her.
Ten minutes later, there was finally some reaction from Kylie.
The woman coughed vigorously a few times before regaining consciousness. She sat upright abruptly and started throwing up the water that her lungs had taken in when she had almost drowned earlier on. When Nathan saw that, he finally heaved a long sigh of relief.
Kylie had specially taken leave from work to visit him in Brimmopolis. If she ended up losing her life there, even if his wife and relatives did not blame him for that, he would not be able to forgive himself for the rest of his life. Kylie felt as if she had just experienced a very long dream!
In that dream, she married Nathan and felt extremely blissful and emotional.
However, Penny suddenly appeared on their wedding day, crying while scolding her for snatching Nathan away.
Faced with Penny's accusations, Kylie started to cry as well.
As both women continued sobbing, the joyous wedding scene suddenly transformed into the scene of a mourning hall.
The bridal entourage had also turned into a funeral procession.
Am I dead?
Just when Kylie was wondering if she was already dead, she suddenly woke up.
After coughing out the water, she slowly returned to her senses. When she noticed her disheveled state and saw Nathan beside her, the woman instantly froze.
"Nathan?"
Just when Nathan was going to explain the situation, he noticed the disheveled top of Kylie's dress that he had ripped apart earlier on. Immediately, he looked away and said, "Something happened just now. You fainted in the bathroom and almost drowned. In my haste to save you, I had to do this. You should get changed first. I'll explain it to you in detail later."
Kylie was momentarily stunned when she heard that but quickly remembered what happened.
After playing on her phone for a while, she had gone to the bathroom to take a bath.
However, when she was filling the bathtub, she suddenly felt her head spinning and fainted immediately after.
The woman finally realized that Nathan had indeed saved her.
At that moment, she heard the sound of the door closing. It turned out that Nathan had left the room and closed the door behind him.
When Kylie looked down and saw the disheveled state of her clothes, she blushed instantly, realizing that Nathan must have seen her naked when he was saving her earlier on.
At that thought, the woman's neck turned red.
Even though she understood that Nathan had no choice but to do that to save her, Kylie still felt extremely embarrassed and wondered how she was going to face the man in the future. Finally, she decided to act as if nothing happened and not mention that incident again. She had assumed that Nathan would not want to talk about such an awkward matter either.
A while later, she managed to calm down and left the room after getting dressed.
Meanwhile, Nathan was sitting on the sofa on the first floor, smoking a cigarette.
"Nathan!"
Kylie called out to Nathan while walking down the stairs. However, she could not help but blush again.
Feeling slightly awkward as well, Nathan got Kylie to sit down and gave her a detailed rundown of the earlier events.
When Kylie heard that an assassin had broken into the house and drugged everyone earlier on, her eyes widened in shock. Immediately after, she exclaimed gratefully, "Nathan, if you hadn't saved me in time, I would probably have already died." Nathan shook his head and replied,
"Please don't thank me. The assassin was here for me. It was me who had put you in danger. Luckily, you're safe. If something bad happened to you, I would have let Penny down and blame myself for the rest of my life." Hearing that, Kylie could not help but ask softly, "Nathan, would you be sad if I had really died?"
Nathan's expression darkened as he spoke in a lecturing tone, "What nonsense is that?"
Kylie lifted her chin in displeasure and pressed on, "Just tell me! Would you be sad?"
Noticing the expectant look in the woman's eyes, Nathan, who had originally wanted to tell her that it would not sadden him, changed his mind and ended up answering impassively, "Of course I'll be sad!"
Kylie's eyes lit up at once as she beamed in satisfaction.
The next moment, Nathan continued, "It's not only me who would be sad. Penny, your family and relatives would all be sad as well! So, you should focus on living your life well and stop letting your mind run wild. All of us are waiting to attend your future wedding and meet your future kids!" When Kylie heard that, she grumbled, "I know, I know. You could have just stopped after your first sentence after telling me that you would be sad. You didn't have to add those extra words behind. You're so long-winded."
