Salute To The General -
Chapter 2439
Theron's countenance grew solemn. Without a word, he reached back and unsheathed his sword of mahogany to the stunned silence of the crowd. Nathan actually said that he would give the patriarch of the Zuckerberg family a sound defeatl
What shocked the crowd even further was that Theron did not refute it, but instead had pulled out his weapon in response. His intention of demonstrating his full strength against Nathan made the respect he had for his adversary clear.
In an instant, the members of the four Reclusive Families present realized that the brash young challenger was somebody formidable.
Nathan's reputation as God of War alone is sufficient to deter foreign enemies. Today, we can see that it is rightfully earned!
Svend was just beginning to realize how foolhardy of an endeavor it was to conspire against Nathan with members of the four Reclusive Families by organizing a banquet to assassinate him. If it were not for the timely appearance of his patriarch, Svend shuddered to think how swiftly they would have succumbed to
Nathan's murderous rage.
Theron rumbled, "If you do not display your full strength against me, I will take it as a sign of great disrespect. So please, select your weapon and come at me with everything you got."
Nathan nodded. A weapon appeared from the depths of his sleeve and landed in his hand.
It was a military dagger of the finest craftsmanship.
The dagger was none other than Snowfall, awarded by the former president of the country when Nathan was promoted to Commander-In-Chief of the North Army and was named the God of War of Eurasia.
Hidden in Nathan's sleeve, the dagger only appeared when Nathan encountered an armed and powerful enemy.
The weapon was named for the description of how it appeared to his enemies. Survivors of the ordeal claimed to witness a flash of white light from his sleeve like a glimpse at their fate. Few were deemed skilled enough by Nathan to have seen its glint while fewer still had seen the actual blade.
The imagery of the horrors that a whip of Nathan's cuff preceded sent a shiver down anybody who dared dwell on the matter.
The appearance of Nathan's dagger, which was not easily revealed, demonstrated the respect he had for the patriarch of the Zuckerberg family as an equal worthy of his full exertion.
Nathan beckoned. "Come!"
Theron stood a little straighter, knowing that this time he had encountered an enemy unlike any other. "Good. Now pay attention," he said in a gravelly voice before raising his sword above his head.
The mahogany sword moved slowly at first. The tip of his sword drew golden rings in the air as he approached Nathan.
A blade slash was manifested with every subsequent ring drawn, forming a vortex of sword slashes.
Surrounded by a deadly flurry of slashes, Theron marched toward Nathan in an overwhelming descent.
The expressions of those in the vicinity changed drastically. Realizing that something was amiss, some had already begun to flee backward in a panic to avoid being pulled into the vortex.
Nathan stood his ground. When the storm of swords was less than three feet from him, he met it with a flash of silver that seemed to glow even more blindingly at the collision.
The gathering force of the storm of swords was halted in its descent by Nathan's parry.
With the onslaught momentarily halted, he sprang into action, his form dissolving into shadow as he shot straight at Theron to meet his adversary's blade in a clang that reverberated through the skies.
Theron did not expect Nathan to actually break the storm of swords with a single strike. His eyes widening with shock, he reacted quickly by reverting into a defensive stance with a horizontal parry to regain his footing and immediately began a furious duel with Nathan. In an instant, the air was thick with the noise of battle as the blades of the combatants slashed through the air.
The shockwave emitted by both weapons sliced several surrounding pillars cleanly in half. Half of the hall collapsed while the crowd in the vicinity screamed and scattered to escape.
They cowered far from the scene of battle in the courtyard and witnessed in horror as half of the main hall fell before their eyes, stirring up a dense cloud of dust and debris in the sky.
Nathan and Theron fought fiercely in the rolling dust which obscured the vision of the observers. No one could see the figures of the combatants, but from time to time, there was the sound of swords clashing accompanied by flashes of light and the occasional shockwave that blew the hairs of the observers back.
Suddenly, a final deafening clash preceded a faint crack before everything fell quiet once more.
It seems that the winner has been decided.
Colin and Cheryl, as well as Cedric, Svend, Olaf, and Ulric held their breath. The atmosphere was tense with anticipation. They stood transfixed to the spot where the clang was last heard. Who won? What's the outcome?
By that point, everyone had already forgotten Theron's original promise of only needing ten moves to beat Nathan.
