Salute To The General
Chapter 2441

In the Quillen residence, Cayden was speaking to Max, the Five-star General of Ariarica, via an encrypted phone.

"Mr. Quillen, please don't forget our agreement," Max reminded Cayden. "I have sent someone to your house with this month's antidote, but please make something happen as soon as possible. We have high expectations for you."

Although Cayden was livid, his tone did not convey the slightest hint of emotions. "Everything is proceeding according to my plan," he replied calmly. "In seven days, I will be able to become the Assistant Chief Military Governor with thousands in the military under my command." "Not bad. This is a good start," Max said appreciatively. "Here's to our lasting partnership. I hope that the next time we speak, you will be acting in the capacity of the president of Eurasia."

"Goodbye," Cayden said curtly as he hung up the phone.

"That d*mn Ariarican!" he burst out fiercely. Pacing himself, he turned toward the door and called, "Come in."

Although he did not raise his voice, it rang clear enough for the men standing guard in the courtyard behind the door to hear it.

Immediately, a slender, handsome young man entered in with a briefcase.

He was Jett Nightshire, Layden s proud protege and his most trusted subordinate. Despite the lack of familial ties, Layden treated him like a son. Upon entry, Jett respectfully gave Layden a salute.

Layden reciprocated the gesture. "Did you bring the temporary antidote from Max?"

"I have it right here," Jett reported as he opened the black briefcase in front of Layden, which contained a syringe and a tiny, innocuous-looking tube. Layden nodded and took off his shirt, revealing his chiseled upper body.

Jett couldn't help feeling envious. Mr. Quillen is in better shape at fifty than a thirty-year-old man in his prime is!

However, Jett knew that his mentor had always been disciplined as eating, resting, meditating, and even emotion cultivation had a specific time slot every day for deliberate practice. Furthermore, Layden did not drink and indulge in women. Long-term abstinence with spiritual advancement in mind, coupled with his raw and undeniable talent, had made him a teacher unmatched by any other in the world.

Jett had long since accepted that his teacher's achievement was impossible for him to even come close to in this lifetime, so he contented himself by devoting himself to his teacher and waiting on him just in the hopes of achieving even a fraction of what the latter had. Cayden stared at Jett. "What are you waiting for? Inject me with the antidote."

Jett hurriedly picked up the syringe and drew the liquid with a practiced hand.

"Leave a little in the bottle", Cayden instructed. "I want you to look for a reliable medical laboratory and have them replicate the formula. I can't afford to be Max's puppet anymore."

"Yes, Mr. Quillen." Jett did as instructed.

After the procedure, he conveyed his worry to his teacher as he packed up his apparatus. "Mr. Quillen, the temporary antidotes given to you by Max are all in very specific amounts. Will the toxins in your body flare up from the underdose?"

Layden put his shirt back on with brisk movements. He replied confidently, "Although it may fail to fully counteract the toxins in my body, forcibly suppressing it with my strength should get me by. It's not a big price to pay to be free of Max's shackles once and for all. " "Remember, Jett," he added, "you have to obtain a copy of the antidote as soon as possible. I dare not push it."

"I'll do my best, Mr. Quillen."

The voice of Frode, the butler of the Quillen family, came from outside the door at that moment. "General Quillen?" Layden had already put on his shirt. "Come in," he called as he signaled at Jett to put his things away.

Frode pushed the door open. "Things are not looking good, General

Quillen."

Layden frowned. "What happened?"

Frode reported in a whisper, "After the four patriarchs of the four Reclusive Families of Zartman, Zuckerberg, Jimmerson, and Gilham arrived at the capital, they set up a banquet at the Paladin Resort and invited Nathan to bury the hatchet with the four Reclusive Families. He was not alone. Colin and Cheryl were with him."

As Cayden and Jett exchanged a startled glance, Frodo continued, "In the end, Nathan had defeated all four patriarchs including Theron, the patriarch of the Zuckerberg family. At his defeat, all the ancestral tablets of the four Reclusive Families fell to the ground."
