Salute To The General
Chapter 2717

Night had dawned when Hideo and Bentley were seized by the police. They were dragged into the police car in the hospital parking lot.

Bentley had his head low as he followed the police listlessly while Hideo limped along.

The latter swept his gaze across the parking lot, trying to shake off the policemen so he could walk on his own.

"Hurry up, man. Don't waste our time. We still have to take your statement after we reach the precinct," Rafael, the deputy captain of the criminal investigation team, yelled.

Suddenly, a dark shadow swooshed past in front of a tree nearby and came directly toward them.

Rafael was alerted. He reached for his gun, but he quickly realized it was nothing but a big black bat.

Then, the bat flew off frantically into the dark as if it was afraid of Rafael.

The man stood there awkwardly, trying to conceal his embarrassment for having been frightened by an animal. "What a stupid creature," he said shortly. "But it's big though." When the captain turned back toward the group again, he realized Hideo and Bentley looked alert. Rafael soon realized that they were staring at something behind him, so he trailed their gaze and turned around again.

What the

Under the moonlight, Rafael saw a debonair young man in a black suit standing right in front of him.

From his features, it was apparent that he was a foreigner. He appeared extraordinarily exquisite in the posh and lofty aura he gave off.

Everything about him was perfect- except for his skin tone. He was too fair.

Rafael looked at the man from head to the toe. "Who are you?" he asked. "Do you speak English?"

The man responded with a smile. "My name is Karlis," he said articulately in English.

Rafael was taken aback. "What are you doing here at this time?"

The young man looked at Hideo and Bentley and then back at Rafael. "I'm here to bring my friends with me." Rafael rolled his eyes. "I don't care who you are and what your relationship is with them. They are our suspects and they are following us back to the station. You'd better not attempt to pervert the course of justice, or I'll bring you with me," Rafael warned sternly.

"Ha! Really?"

Rafael was piqued. What does that mean? Who does he think he―

Before Rafael could even say a word, Karlis had already raised his pale hand in his direction. His long and sharp nails cut through the air, slitting Rafael's neck.

The deputy captain froze where he was, his hands slowly wrapping around his neck.

"You" Blood dripped from his neck.

Karlis flashed him a sinister smile as he licked the bloodstain on his fingernails. "You taste disgusting," he said, spitting.

Before Rafael could make sense of what had just happened to him, he had already fallen to the ground, dead.

When the other policemen saw this, they were shaken to the core.

They drew their guns and pointed at Karlis, but just while they were doing that, Karlis had already turned into a shadow, sweeping across the distance and between the men at an inhumanly fast speed.

By the time the shadow became still again, everyone on the team was already bleeding. They slumped to the ground with their major arteries cut open.

Karlis eyed them with disdain as they died, shaking his head in pity. "I like a pretty little blood pool, but too bad. This is inferior blood."

After all of them died, Hideo and

Bentley bowed and greeted their savior cordially, "Mr. Karlis."

Karlis glared at them coldly. "Look at the mess you got me into. I have stayed here for two years and now I have to move because of both of you."
