Salute To The General -
Chapter 2773
Soon after Nathan and the rest took a seat in the great hall, a burst of clear laughter echoed in the hall. Following suit, a tall figure approached them, leading a group of servants behind him. "Mr. and Mrs. Cross! Thank you for your patience. Have you been waiting long?"
Before Szymon had even reached the group, his loud and authoritative voice reverberated in the hall.
Nathan, Penny, and the others turned simultaneously to the source of the voice. Szymon, who was dressed smartly, approached them with a huge smile on his face.
Szymon had an attractive figure. His blond hair, blue eyes, and sideburns gave him a noble aura, as well as a domineering attitude that most nobility lack.
Perhaps that was his character that was shaped since young with the number of killings in his younger years.
Nathan and Penny stood up politely.
Just as Nathan and Penny were sizing Szymon up, he was also evaluating Nathan with great interest.
Truth be told, Szymon had long heard about Nathan, especially the story where Nathan had singlehandedly defeated the Coalition Army consisting of elites from eighteen countries. He had even lost count of the times he had heard people recounting the story. However, he had always scoffed at the story. In fact, he was even downright suspicious of Nathan's capabilities.
He firmly believed that Nathan was not as powerful as the rumors made him out to be. He believed that those Nathan had defeated had intentionally exaggerated his power so that they would not get in too much trouble for their failures.
That day was the first time Szymon met Nathan face to face.
He was taken aback to see how young Nathan appeared to be. He is just slightly over thirty!
If Nathan were to walk on the street, he might mistake Nathan for an ordinary young soldier. He would have never believed that Nathan was once the Commander-in-Chief of the North Army, much less the current president and Chief Military Governor of Eurasia. "It's an honor to have you here, Mr. and Mrs. Cross!"
With a grin, Szymon stretched out his hand to Nathan.
Nathan could tell that Szymon was faking his friendliness. However, Eurasia was well-known for upholding etiquette. Moreover, there was a saying in Eurasia that one must not hit a smiling face.
Seeing that Szymon was acting polite, Nathan smiled and stretched out his hand to shake Szymon's hand.
"I've heard many things about you, Your Grace. I hope we're not disturbing Your Grace with today's visit." The men's strong grips held each other.
Szymon narrowed his eyes and slightly tighten his grip to test Nathan's strength as well as to show authority.
A huge burst of force traveled from his hand. The force was strong enough to crumple up metal as though it was a ball of dough.
To his shock, Nathan still maintained a relaxed smile on his face.
Szymon secretly increased his strength again.
However, even though he had increased his strength, his enormous strength vanished into thin air the moment it traveled to Nathan's hand.
At that moment, Szymon no longer looked down on Nathan for he could sense that Nathan truly had skills.
At the same time, his competitive spirit was stirred up.
A glint flashed across his eyes as he initiated another burst of energy onto Nathan's hand.
A gigantic force was focused on Nathan's hand. It was as powerful as a waterfall gushing down from the world's highest cliff.
Nathan's expression darkened slightly.
He had originally intended to not play such childish games with Szymon. However, he kept tightening his grip, wanting to show off his power and authority. His ignorant pride was the last straw. Nathan's grip tightened on Szymon's hand.
Immediately, a powerful force surged toward Szymon like a tidal wave.
Crack'. Crack!
The stone ground beneath Nathan and Szymon cracked, extending outward like the petals of a lotus flower.
Everyone around them was startled. Fear was written in their expressions.
As for Szymon, his right arm had gone numb from the rippling force emanating from Nathan's arm, causing him to almost let out a yelp of pain.
However, he bit his tongue just in time.
Suspicion was overflowing out of his eyes when he relaxed his grip and ended the challenge between him and Nathan.
Even though he was shocked by Nathan's strength, he believed that Nathan's condition was not any better than his. In fact, he even believed that not only Nathan's right arm was numb, but his internal organs had been injured from the handshake too. Szymon narrowed his eyes at Nathan with a half-smile. His expression seemed to be screaming: Did I injure your organs? If there's any internal injury, let go of your pride and stop pretending to be fine. Go seek treatment instead.
Little did he know that Nathan was perfectly fine. Nathan did not even feel the least out of breath. In fact, his palm was not even numb.
Piero quickly rushed forward. In a low whisper, he asked Szymon out of concern, "Your Grace, are you all right?"
His question enraged Szymon.
Shooting Piero a venomous glare, he raised his voice just enough for Nathan to hear. "You should be asking him if he's all right, and ask him whether or not he needs to go to the hospital!"
Piero's face reddened in embarrassment as he stood in his spot helplessly.
From Piero's perspective, the president of Eurasia and Duke Thunderstorm were like two gods in a fight. It was hard to pick a side.
Nathan smiled slightly at Piero. "Mr. Piero, His Grace and I were merely testing each other out. Neither of us is injured. No worries."
"Of course!" Seeing his opening, Piero quickly took it.
However, his performance made Szymon extremely displeased.
Tossing Piero a cold glance, Szymon quickly composed himself before turning to face Nathan. "The floors turned out to be not as sturdy as I thought. Sorry for that. This is embarrassing! Mr. and Mrs. Cross, let's move to the side hall." With a smile, Nathan agreed, "Sure."
