Salute To The General -
Chapter 3017
Right at the last second before the giant sword landed, Nathan made his move.
An exquisite-looking dagger slipped out of his sleeves and fell into his hand.
Amidst the crowd's looks of disbelief, Nathan raised his tiny dagger to block Lucian's hundred-pound sword with it.
It looked like an effort that was doomed to fail.
That was what went through everyone's minds when they saw what Nathan was attempting to do.
As for Lucian, a vicious smile broke out across his face, as if he could already see Nathan suffering after being slashed in half. However, his smile was frozen the very next second.
Clang!
A thunderous clash of weapons echoed through the land.
It turned out that Nathan had managed to easily block Lucian's giant sword with his tiny dagger.
The turn of events came as a shock to everyone present, and even Lucian's eyes were wide open as if he had seen a ghost.
Nathan steadily remarked, "Sometimes, a larger weapon doesn't necessarily make it better."
His words ignited the rage within Lucian.
How dare this brat lecture me about the weapon I use? This is ridiculous.
"Let's see how many attacks can you withstand!"
As a thunderous roar rang out, the giant sword was raised into the air again. Brandishing it in his hand, the hysterical Lucian renewed his attack against Nathan.
It was undeniable that Lucian, as one of Heavenly City's Five Heavenly Guardians, was one of the best warriors in the world.
Despite the weight of his giant sword, he wielded it as if it was as light as a feather.
As the sword danced through the air, it suddenly felt like a maelstrom that swallowed the turbulent seas. Thereafter, the sensation evolved into one that felt like a monstrous dragon tearing through the sky.
If his opponent was anyone else other than Nathan, Lucian would have already diced him into bits. Holding Snowsphere in his hand, Nathan steadily blocked and parried every one of Lucian's attacks.
The explosive clash of their weapons reverberated continuously in every direction.
Collateral damage spread across the cobblestone streets and the surrounding buildings and trees, as the explosions and the stray sword energy that was unleashed wrought tremendous devastation upon the area. The ground on which both of them battled was covered by residual blade marks, reminiscent of a brutal battle between two giant dragons in ancient times.
Without anyone realizing it, Lucian had unleashed more than a hundred strikes at Nathan.
By then, the remaining Heavenly Guardians, Deans, and guards of Heavenly City had stopped underestimating the latter.
Even Lothar's brows were discreetly furrowed, for he hadn't expected the masked man to be strong enough to hold his ground against Lucian.
Moreover, he had managed to spot a few clues while watching Nathan's attacks and had a faint idea of the latter's true identity.
As he continued to observe the battle earnestly, he began wondering.
Can it really be Nathan? Nathan, oh, Nathan. If it really is you, I will be forced to end the problem that I have inadvertently created.
No sooner had Lothar made the decisive decision to kill Nathan than a change occurred in the ongoing battle.
In the beginning, Lucian seized the initiative with his relentless attacks on Nathan.
All this while, he strongly held onto the belief that attack was the best form of defense.
Therefore, his modus operandi was to overwhelm his opponents with his power and swiftly destroy their defenses before ending their lives. Unfortunately, his usual strategy finally met its match that day.
Despite unleashing a barrage of a hundred strikes at Nathan, he was dismayed to realize that all of them were successfully deflected. As fighting with such intensity was unsustainable, his subsequent attacks began to lose their edge.
Meanwhile, Nathan could clearly sense his enemy's diminishing strength and knew it was time for his counterattack.
"Now that I have intercepted your hundred attacks, let's see if you can do the same to a single strike of mine."
