Salute To The General
Chapter 3072

As it turned out, the man was the son of the current Alpha Wolf, Raytor.

His name was Kaiden.

Despite being the son of the alpha wolf, Kaiden was treated with the utmost respect by the werewolves.

Even so, Raytor had always been dissatisfied with his son's performance. He never praised Kaiden, regardless of how well the latter performed. Instead, Raytor would lecture him on how he could have performed better.

As such, Kaiden never received the acknowledgment and compliment of his father, even though he soon grew up to become an elite among the werewolves.

Eventually, he couldn't stand it anymore and left his father as well as the werewolf clan. Kaiden then lived among the humans as he continued his training.

Over the years, he had killed countless powerful humans and fed on their hearts.

Not only did all those killings make him a powerful werewolf, but they also made him infamous. The Curia labeled him as the most savage and terrifying werewolf. They even gave him the nickname Rainy Night Killer due to his preference to kill humans on rainy nights. Meanwhile, Kaiden had just killed off a few indigenous people. He was feeding on their hearts when he saw the news of Queenie being the future Holy Maiden on television.

All right! I'm going to head over to Eurasia and kill the next Holy Maiden to become even stronger!

Nathan was completely oblivious to the fact that his daughter had been targeted by a werewolf immediately after her news was aired on television.

He was too busy being mad at Laura, who had come to visit him.

Nathan was wearing a suit as he sat in the living room with a cigarette in his hand. The smoke surrounding him made him look all the more mysterious, powerful, and terrifying as he stared her down.

Even Laura was feeling a little nervous as she stood before him.

Nathan's tone was neutral as he said, "I don't even know how to describe my feelings right now. I suppose anger is what I'm feeling the most."

Laura protested, "Mr. Cross, most people can only dream of becoming the next Holy Maiden! Your daughter-"

"Shut up!" Nathan yelled coldly.

Laura was so intimidated by his sudden outburst that she fell silent instantly.

Nathan shot her a look of disgust as he continued, "Sometimes, you people do things that are far worse than what the dark clans have done. I arranged for someone to contact Eugene IV and gave him an ultimatum. He must make a public announcement and declare that my daughter isn't the next Holy Maiden."

"But there's no way for the Pope to take his words back! It's simply impossible!" Laura exclaimed instinctively.

"In that case, he'll be doomed. I will personally visit the Curia and take action against him. I will also kill you to set an example before heading over," Nathan replied coldly.

Laura's eyes went wide with shock and anger when she heard that.

Most of the smaller countries in Adrune needed the Pope's acknowledgment when appointing their kings.

No king could ascend the throne without first gaining the Pope's approval.

That meant the Pope's power exceeded even those of kings due to the influence of religion in those countries.

Naturally, that led to members of the Curia becoming extremely arrogant and bold. That was especially the case for cardinals like Laura.

Unfortunately for her, the power of the Curia meant nothing to someone like Nathan.

He even went as far as threatening to kill Laura and go after the Pope if he refused to make another public announcement.

"Why are you so against this, Mr. Cross? Are you worried that your daughter will be targeted by dark clans after becoming the Holy Maiden? If so, then you can rest assured that the Curia will protect her with its best bodyguards! I, too, can protect her along with them. No one will be able to hurt her at all!"

Nathan shot her a disdainful look in response. "You're going to protect her?"

"That's right! I am a cardinal who has killed countless members of the dark clans! They fearfully call me Killer Cardinal! I'll definitely be able to protect your daughter!" Laura replied confidently with her chest held high.

"You mean nothing to me, and you are not qualified to protect my daughter. Leave now, and pray that Eugene IV will make that public announcement within three days. Otherwise, you will be the first to die, and he will be next."
