Salute To The General
Chapter 3409 Is Havik One Of You

After uttering those words, Nathan casually unscrewed the cap of the mineral water bottle, lifted it to his lips, and took two hearty gulps. Hepburn observed as Nathan drank the mineral water she had given him, satisfied that she had accomplished her objective.

At last, she finally made Nathan drink the Tear of God.

Despite Nathan's state of anger and sorrow and his lack of vigilance toward her, Hepburn managed to achieve her goal by providing him with the drink. Now, it is time to test Nathan's reaction to the Tear of God. If he does not respond to it, it would indicate that Nathan is not a vampire at all. Consequently, the information provided by the bondslaves captured on the battlefield would be entirely false. Even the confessions made by these bondslaves would be nothing but fabrications orchestrated by individuals like Wolfric, with the sole intention of tarnishing Mr. Cross' reputation.

Once it was established that Nathan was not a vampire, Hepburn would rush back to the Curia headquarters to sternly reprimand Eugene IV. She was willing to take the risk, even if it meant sacrificing her title as the Holy Maiden.

At that moment, she just stared intently at Nathan.

Nathan remained oblivious to any peculiarities in Hepburn's gaze, and he failed to detect any abnormalities in the water he had consumed, as he was still immersed in anger and sorrow.

The image of Havik and his men kept popping into his mind.

Suddenly, he was lost in thought for a moment, and the next second, he seemed to recall some of the things he observed earlier.

Despite all of them, including Havik, wearing the uniform of the Ariarican army, none exhibited the unwavering spirit typically associated with soldiers in their words and actions. They also lacked the strict discipline characteristic of soldiers.

Aside from the uniform, those people did not seem like they belonged to the military at all.

For a moment, Nathan could not figure out the mastermind because he had made many enemies, and anyone of them could potentially be out to get him.

Considering his position in the country, he also suspected that his adversaries were leaders of certain organizations or countries.

Under such circumstances, it was possible for enemies to become friends and vice-versa.

In essence, friendships and rivalries would not endure indefinitely when faced with mutual interests.

If interests do not align, it is inevitable that former friends can swiftly transform into present enemies.

Nathan still could not figure out who might have deployed Havik and his men to attack the research base.

He lifted his head, catching sight of Hepburn before him.

A sudden thought flashed through his mind. Could it be the Curia? Do Havik and his men work for them?

Nathan was startled by his own thought.

After careful consideration, he concluded that this was indeed plausible.

if the Curia had already deployed Hepburn to pry into his secrets, it was not impossible for them to send Havik to conduct a clandestine investigation on him.

Furthermore, the combat technique utilized by Havik bore a stylistic resemblance to that of the Curia.

The combat maneuver he performed, Sacred Lotus Blossom, was unmistakably the Curia's ultimate technique.

Hepburn watched as Nathan's expression kept changing.

With a hint of concern, she asked, "Mr. Cross, you look pale. Are you feeling unwell?"

Nathan lifted his head, locking eyes with Hepburn, before asking in a deep voice, "Do you consider me your friend?"

Hepburn's face subtly changed, a flicker of panic flashing deep within her eyes. She thought Nathan had discovered something was amiss with the water and was about to question her. en Narugi

She forcefully calmed her emotions and said, "Of course, I consider you a friend. Moreover, you've saved my

life. You're my savior and the bero

whom I held in high regard

Nathan responded slowly, "All right then. I have a question for you. If you consider me a friend, I hope you can answer me honestly." Hepburn's heart pounded wildly, but she tried to steady herself. She nodded in response. "Sure. What would you want to know?"

Nathan asked in a deep voice, "Are the people who attacked the research base today from the Curia? What's Havik's connection with them?" Upon hearing these words, Hepburn was struck dumb, her mouth slightly agape.

Instinctively, she desired to deny any knowledge of Havik and dismiss his suspicion that Havik was affiliated with the Curia.

Before she could respond, Nathan continued saying indifferently, "I've examined his body. He had a tattoo, and the tattoo carried the emblem of the Curia."

Hepburn was stunned. What?

By right, the Shadow Guards should not bear any tattoos related to the Curia.
