Salute To The General
Chapter 3411 You Get The Answer You Wanted

The sedan sped down the road, quickly leaving the vehicles behind in its wake. Inside the vehicle, the transformation of Nathan's body was going out of control.

Screech!

Colin maneuvered the vehicle into the woods at the roadside, then abruptly slammed on the brakes, halting the car.

He then spun around, his face full of concern. "Mr. Cross, are you all right?"

Hepburn stood there, utterly stunned, her gaze fixed on Nathan in front of her with a mix of disbelief and astonishment.

Swiftly, Nathan opened the car door and dashed out, his body still visibly transforming at an astonishing rate.

Colin and Hepburn quickly got out of the car before staring in shock at Nathan, who was in the midst of transforming before their eyes.

Soon, Nathan's combat form was fully revealed.

His height had exceeded two meters, and his body becoming even more robust. He no longer looked handsome; he now looked fierce with an air of valor. Most striking of all were the three pairs of skeletal wings sprouting from his back. He was a six-winged vampire, a vampire that only appeared in the legends.

It was unexpected. Not only was Nathan a vampire, but he was also the six-winged king.

Although Colin had known Nathan's secret for a while, he couldn't help but reveal a shocked expression when he saw Nathan's combat form for the first time.

As for Hepburn, it would be fair to say she was completely dumbfounded.

Unable to accept the reality at that moment, she repeatedly murmured, "It's impossible. This can't be real..."

Meanwhile, after Nathan assumed his combat form, the wild energy within him gradually calmed down.

He slowly turned around, his six wings gently fluttering behind him, adding an imposing aura to his stern face.

"Are you satisfied? You got the answer you wished for," said Nathan with a hint of anger in his voice.

Hepburn looked into Nathan's icy gaze. Listening to his voice laced with anger, a subconscious fear took hold of her. Instinctively, she rested her hand on the mithril on her waist.

Seeing Hepburn reach toward her waist for Dictum, a hint of cold mockery flashed in Nathan's eyes. "What's the matter? Do you want to kill me?"

Upon hearing that, Hepburn snapped back to reality, her hand moving away from the mithril pistol.

She discovered that the hero she worshipped had become the

vampire she despised the most. Her feelings were too complex to put into words, and the look in her eyes was equally filled with complicated emotions. She shook her head with difficulty. "I didn't mean that. I just can't accept you becoming like this, Mr. Cross."

It would have been better if she didn't explain.

After the explanation, Nathan became even more furious.

Nathan said coldly, "If that's not what you mean, then what do you mean?"

"Isn't the Curia investigating me to figure out if I'm a vampire before replaceing a way to deal with me?" Before Hepburn could speak, Nathan added, "And you said you can't accept me turning into this. Did you think I wanted to become like this?" Hepburn's heart trembled when she heard that.

Indeed, she despised the vampires. The Curia despised the vampires, and humans, in general, despised the vampires. They were all irreconcilable with the vampires.

And for this very reason, she found it unbearable to see Nathan become the vampire she despised the most in her life.

But Nathan never wanted this.

Nathan said coldly, "When the blood virus broke out, I personally went to the battlefield in Alliance, slaying countless King-Class vampires, even the vampire king, Herod. Leading the alliance, we reclaimed the vampire-occupied territories and restored peace. But I was injected With a drop of ancestral blood by Gregg, and that's how I became like this. Do you think this is what I wanted?"

Hepburn bit her lip, remaining silent. However, the look in her eyes as she gazed at Nathan no longer held the shock, confusion, fear, and hostility that had been there when she first discovered Nathan was a vampire.

At that very moment, as she gazed upon the six-winged vampire king before her, her eyes were filled with nothing but deep compassion.

Nathan had always been a composed man around her. When had he ever been as angry as he was now? When had his eyes ever been so filled with sorrow?

Looking at Nathan, who was both sad and angry, Hepburn couldn't help but wonder. What had this man been through to have such a melancholic gaze? It made one irresistibly want to hold him close, to comfort him and assure him that everything would be okay, that all would pass.

Nathan continued, "No. This is not what I desired, but the hand of fate has pushed me into the abyss. I had no other choice; I was to either sink in the abyss or climb out of it, step by step."

At that point, Nathan's gaze turned

sharp. "But it seems like you people

don't want to give me a chance at all. You've forgotten my contributions; you've forgotten that I was once a hero on the battlefield. You only want to dig up my secrets, even if it means resorting to any means necessary. So, you want to prove that I'm a vampire that I'm a vampire king-then kill me under the guise of justice? I'll give you the opportunity to do so, but I'm afraid you might regret it."

Hepburn quickly spoke up, "Mr. Cross, the Curia has indeed doubted you, and we have investigated you, but we have never forgotten your contributions, and we certainly have no intentions of killing you." Nathan sneered. "Do you believe that? If that's the case, then why are you investigating me? After the war, peace arrives, and you will no longer need heroes. But what you will need is a villain. Am I right?"
