Salute To The General
Chapter 3412 If I Become The Villain

Hepburn exclaimed, "Mr. Cross, you can't say that. No matter what you become, as long as you don't turn against humanity, your heart remains human. To me, you are still human and a hero of our kind."

Nathan stared at Hepburn.

Hepburn was fearless, her pretty face held high as she locked eyes with Nathan.

Nathan looked into Hepburn's resolute and devout eyes before saying slowly, "I trust you, but I don't trust Eugene IV, and nor do I trust the Curia. The actions of the Havik speak volumes." Hepburn was at a loss for words; she was unable to refute.

The restless power within Nathan had gradually calmed down. Now that he was able to control his body, he returned to his original human form, regaining his handsome appearance.

After regaining his human form, he glanced at Hepburn. "You've got what you wished for. Now you know the answer you've been seeking. Based on your exploitation of my trust, and the actions of Havik, I implore you, the members of the Curia, to refrain from appearing before me in the future. Otherwise, there will be consequences for you to bear."

After saying that, Nathan walked toward the sedan and instructed Colin, "Let's go. Let her arrange for her own people to pick her up."

Colin did not leave, however. He gritted his teeth and said, "Mr. Cross, she knows your secret. Are you really going to let her go? She'll return to the Curia and reveal your secret. When that happens, whether it's the Curia or Wolfric, they'll likely use this as an excuse to cause trouble. You'll have no peace from then on "

Nathan cut him off by saying, "Then what do you propose us to do? Kill her? I am infected with the blood virus, but I'm not a murderous maniac."

Hepburn shuddered when she heard that.

Nathan was still the same magnanimous man as he was before.

Even when others were unkind, he would not be unjust.

Hepburn stared at Nathan's eyes, feeling guilty.

Given Nathan's character, whether he was a human or a vampire, his heart would remain undoubtedly kind.

The Curia should not have investigated Nathan. Doing so was pointless and counterproductive.

Upon hearing Nathan's words, Colin realized that Nathan did not want to indulge in unnecessary killing-that he did not want to kill Hepburn.

Thus, he sighed softly, got into the car, started the engine, and prepared to leave.

Nathan cast one final glance at Hepburn. His voice turned icy as he spoke, "Bear this in mind: I hold no aspiration to embody the role of a villain. If a day arrives when I assume that role, it will undoubtedly be the Curia's actions that have coerced me into it." With that said, he got into the car.

The car slowly pulled away from Hepburn.

Only when the car had completely vanished from Hepburn's sight did she come back to her senses. Unable to hold back her tears, she cried out, "Mr. Cross, we were wrong! We shouldn't have done this..."

She sprinted after the departing vehicle, desperate to catch up. However, her efforts proved futile as the car disappeared from sight, leaving her unable to keep pace.

Feeling helpless, she crouched down. She had never felt as lost and weak as she did now.

The Curia was her home, but what the Curia asked her to do left her in a difficult position.

Although she had found out that Nathan was a vampire, she had also realized that his heart remained kind.

How could she betray Nathan by reporting his identity as a vampire to the Curia?

If the Curia were to take any more extreme actions, then they would be forcing the kind Nathan to become a villain.

In that case, who would be at fault? Nathan or the Curia?

She had no answer to that.

She could do nothing but crouch by the roadside, feeling utterly helpless as she buried her head in her knees, resembling a lost child.

After a considerable amount of time, a sudden sound of a car engine echoed from up ahead.

Her face lit up with surprise and delight, thinking that Nathan had returned.

She stood up and blurted out in excitement, "Mr. Cross!"

However, the moment the words left her mouth, she realized something was off.

Several black SUVS had arrived on the scene, and they were not Nathan's vehicle.

Once those black SUVS came to a halt, a group of well-trained and menacing men from Adrune stepped out.

The one leading them was exceptionally tall.

He sported a flattop, and his expression was cold like a robot's.

Hepburn asked in uncertainty, "Who are you?"

The man with the flattop sneered. "My name is Holmes, and I'm from Ariarica's Military Intelligence Department. I'm also here on orders to investigate Nathan. But unlike you, Ms. Hepburn, I can't get so close to Nathan. Just moments ago, Nathan's vehicle abruptly veered off the main road. Those of us who were secretly tailing him were also taken by surprise and lost track of his whereabouts. So, I'd like to ask you, Ms. Hepburn, about what happened earlier. I can't believe Nathan just left you here. Did you replace something that upset Nathan? Would you mind sharing with us what you've found?"
