Salute To The General
Chapter 3420 Shocking The Curia

The major leading the team was named Declan Cross.

Declan saluted Nathan. "Greetings, Chief Cross. We are here on orders to apprehend the enemy spies who have infiltrated our ranks."

Glancing at the bodies of Holmes and his companions nearby, Nathan said indifferently, "These spies ran into me. I've killed quite a few of them, but a few have taken Ms. Hepburn away. We need to pursue and rescue her immediately." Upon hearing this, Declan was surprised and quickly responded, "Yes!"

A few more cars soon arrived, and several cardinals stepped out.

They asked Nathan uncertainly, "Mr. Cross, where is the Holy Maiden?"

With a serious expression, Nathan revealed, "We have been attacked by the enemy's secret agents. When I was battling the secret agents, someone kidnapped Ms. Hepburn. I'm currently dispatching people to investigate and rescue her." What?

The cardinals were stunned.

One of them exclaimed, "How could something like this happen? Who would dare to do this to her?" He looked visibly upset.

Nathan looked at the bodies of Holmes and the others. "According to the information I just obtained, these guys are all from Ariarica."

The cardinals finally noticed the bodies of Holmes and others.

They believed Nathan but were consumed by worry for the imperiled Holy Maiden. Their anxiety reached a fever pitch. They beseeched Nathan with urgency, "Mr. Cross, we implore you to spare no effort to rescue the Holy Maiden. Otherwise, we won't be able to explain things to Pope Eugene upon our return."

Nathan said, "Rest assured, Ms. Hepburn is my friend. I can't shirk responsibility for what happened in my territory. I will send my men to rescue her."

The cardinals exchanged a few words with Nathan before hastily departing.

They had to report the matter to Pope Eugene and mobilize their own strength to intensify the rescue efforts for Hepburn.

Meanwhile, back at the Curia, Eugene IV was engaged in his customary daily prayers before the divine statue.

As he concluded his prayer, he raised his gaze and suddenly noticed two tear-like droplets cascading from the eyes of the divine statue to the ground.

Fear flared up Eugene IV's heart as he fell to his knees with a thud.

With a trembling voice, he asked, "Almighty Lord, what on earth has happened that has moved you to tears?"

As if in response to him, a bishop rushed in and said anxiously, "Pope Eugene, there's a serious problem."

Eugene IV stood up, his brow furrowed as he glared at the bishop before him. Angrily, he demanded, "What's going on? Why are you in such a panic? This is unbecoming!"

The bishop's countenance turned grim as he reported, "Regrettably, we have received two distressing reports from Aploth."

Eugene IV's heart sank. Could this have something to do with the weeping statue?

He asked in a deep voice, "Tell me slowly. What are the bad news?"

The bishop said with a trembling voice, "The first piece of bad news is that Havik brazenly invaded Cross Group's research base, causing a bloodbath. However, he was ultimately killed by Nathan

Havik is dead!

Eugene IV stumbled slightly. After steadying himself, he asked with difficulty, "Has his identity been exposed?"

The bishop replied, "I don't think so."

Eugene IV sighed. "This could be considered a blessing in disguise. Go on, then. What's the second piece of bad news?" The bishop bit his lip and gathered his courage to say, "Something happened to the Holy Maiden, Hepburn."

Eugene IV widened his eyes. "What did you say? What happened to her? Did she wield the Tear of God on Nathan and uncovered the truth before subsequently suffering harm at his hands?" en Narugi

The bishop shook his head. "That's not the case. Agroup of Ariarican

secret agents attacked Nathan and Hepburn. Apparently, when Nathan was busy eliminating the secret agents, someone kidnapped Hepburn. I'm not sure if the Ariarican secret agents were targeting Nathan or us. Currently, Hepburn's

whereabouts are unknown, and her fate remains uncertain."

Upon hearing this, Eugene IV was filled with shock and anger. "How despicable! Summon the Top Three Shadow Guards to see me immediately. I have an extremely urgent task for them." The bishop replied, "Yes!"
