Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 37: Punishment

Alpha Knox POV

After Jag and Jo left my office, I invited Sheryl to take a seat.

“How are you feeling?” I asked softy.

“Better, thank you.” She replied with a nervous smile.

“Have you seen the doctor? Is the baby doing well?” I asked.

“Yes, I had a checkup this morning. The baby is doing just fine.” She replied with a soft smile, while rubbing her little baby bump.

“I’m glad to hear. You probably already know, but Kyle was locked up after what he did to you. I won’t let him intentionally put your pregnancy at risk. I wanted to talk with you first, before making my final decision on his punishment. I think…” I started, but Sheryl cut me off.

“There’s only one thing that I want.” She said and although her voice was shaky, it held a new confidence.

“What is it?” I asked curiously.

“I want to reject him.” She said with determination and my eyes naturally widened in shock. I definitely wasn’t expecting that. Before I could say anything, she spoke again.

“I want to reject him and for his punishment, I want you to make him accept it. I let that man walk all over me. I even ignored all those times he cheated on me before I was pregnant. But now, things are different, the doctor said I could of lost the baby. He said if it happened again, he couldn’t guarantee that I wouldn’t miscarry. I’ve never stood up for myself, but now with this little bundle growing inside me, I know I need to do it. If not for myself, for the baby.” She added and the confidence in her voice was impressive. I knew she seemed different when I saw her this morning.

“Are you sure? Have you talk to the doctor about it? You know rejecting your mate can be equally as painful as cheating.” I asked with a concerned frown.

“I did, I spoke to him about it this morning. He can give me an injection that will help with the pain. He said I would still feel the rejection, but that it would be nowhere near what I went through when he cheated on me.” She replied, while nodding her head.

“Is it safe for the baby?” I asked, the concern was still clear in my tone.

“The doctor said the baby should be fine. Nothing’s ever guaranteed and there is a slight risk, but even he agreed that this was for the best. The biggest risk to the baby at this point, is if Kyle cheated on me again.” She replied.

“Do you want some time to think about this? I don’t want you to make any rash decisi…” I started and she once again cut me off.

“I’m sure.” She said and this time her voice didn’t even crack, it was laced with confidence.

“Please don’t take this as me trying to discourage you from rejecting Kyle, because that’s not the case. But are you sure you don’t want to wait till after the baby’s born? I can keep him locked up so you won’t have to worry about him cheating.” I offered. I really didn’t feel comfortable with her going through the rejection while pregnant, even if the doctor said the baby should be fine. I kinda wish she would wait till after the baby was born.

“I need to do this now because if I don’t, I fear I might change my mind and continue living this miserable life, with a mate that doesn’t respect or love me.” She replied and there wasn’t an ounce of hesitation in her voice.

“Very well, if that’s what you want, that’s what will happen. When you’re ready, we will go into cells and you can start the rejection. He will be given the choice to accept it or stay locked up until he does. When he accepts it, I’ll have some of my warriors escort him to your apartment so he can gather his things and move out. I will be warning him not to contact you. I’ve also decided to take his wolf away for 2 months. He will be given a mandatory weekly wolfbane shot until the two months is up. If he fails to to comply, I will have him locked up.” I explained and she nodded.

The decision to take his wolf away was mainly for Sheryl’s safety. I know emotions will be running high after the rejection and with wolfbane in his system, he won’t only be wolfless, but his all around strength will be weakened.

“Thank you, Knox, I really appreciate everything that you and Tatiana have done for me. I don’t know what I would have done if you guys hadn’t been there.” She said and I could hear the sincerity in her tone.

“You’re welcome, but there’s no need to thank me. You’re apart of this pack and I would have done the same thing for any of my pack members.” I replied truthfully.

“I’m so glad that the moon goddess blessed you with a mate like Chloe, someone equally as amazing and a natural leader. The two of you together will only strengthen this pack.” She said and my eyes went wide. Only a select few knew that Chloe and I were mates. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait for everyone to know, but I’ve kept it to myself knowing Chloe isn’t ready yet.

“How do you know she’s my mate?…”I started and trailed off when she gave me a knowing smile.

“She told me this morning and I can tell she really likes you. Her and Max are amazing, I’m not sure I would have made the decision to leave Kyle if it hadn’t been for them. I really wish I was strong like they are.” She replied and her voice was barely above a whisper by the last sentence.

You’re strong, you just need to believe in yourself. Rejecting Kyle is a good first step.” I said, giving her a reassuring smile.

“I’m just scared, this is my first baby and now I’m going to be raising him on my own. What if I’m not a good mother?” She asked and her voice was now full of doubt.

“You have us, Sheryl. Not just Chloe and I, but the entire pack. We will help you through this. You’re going to be a great mother, the decision you just made proves that.” I said and she smiled gratefully.

“I’m going to replace the doctor. I would really like to get this rejection over with and start moving on with my life.” She said, before standing up.

“Absolutely. When you’re ready come replace me and we will go down to the dungeon together.” I offered and she nodded before leaving my office.

I let out a heavy sigh once I was alone. That was not at all what I was expecting. I actually thought that Sheryl might try to defend Kyle’s actions or even minimize them. Never in my wildest dreams did I think she would decide to reject him. I’m proud of her for making that decision and even prouder that my mate helped her reach it. Chloe is going to be an amazing Luna, that’s already clear as day.

I was waiting in my office for Sheryl to return, when Chloe sauntered in. I was happy to see that it was still Chloe in control, instead of Tatiana. Don’t get me wrong, I like both of them, but I think Chloe should be the one present when in human form.

“Good morning, did you sleep well?” I asked with a smile, as I got up from my chair and made my way around the desk to greet her.

“It was ok, I tossed and turned a bunch, but eventually fell asleep.” She replied with a shrug.

“It’s because I wasn’t there.” I replied with a grin and leaned down to k**s her lips. I wrapped my arms around her body and held her in a tight embrace.

“Aren’t we full of ourselves this morning.” She teased.

“I’m only speaking the truth.” I said with a shrug, before taking a seat on the couch and pulling her down beside me. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and she leaned her head against mine.

“What are you working on today?” She asked casually.

“Actually, I’m just waiting for Sheryl. She’s decided to reject Kyle and I’m going to make sure he accepts the rejection.” I replied and she quickly lifted her head from my shoulder so that she could see my face.

“Really? She was talking about it at breakfast, but to tell you the truth, I didn’t really think she would go through with it.” Chloe admitted.

“I didn’t think she would either, but she’s gone to see the doctor now. I guess he can give her something that will help with the pain. She was pretty determined to do the rejection right away.” I informed her.

“Good. She’s better off without him.” Chloe replied confidently.

“I absolutely agree. Will you come with us? She may need some moral support and she seems to be very fond of you and Max.” I asked.

“Of course, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I hope it causes him as much pain as he caused her.” She replied and I could hear the hatred in her tone.

Our conversation was interrupted when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in.” I announced.

The door opened and Sheryl walked in. She looked extremely relaxed given the situation.

“Hey, did you get the shot?” I asked curiously.

“I did, now let’s go reject my mate.” She said casually, like it was an everyday occurrence. I couldn’t detect any emotions coming for her, not even her usual nervousness.

“What did the doctor give you?” I asked with a frown. She looked stone, like she had just smoked weed or something.

“I’m not sure what it’s called, but he said it would block my emotions and relax my muscles.” She replied with a bored sigh.

“I need to get my hands on whatever he gave her.” Chloe joked, while looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

“No shit.” I replied and we both chuckled lightly. Sheryl on the other hand, didn’t even react to the joke.

“Can we go? The doctor said it will start wearing off in an hour.” She asked and I nodded.

‘I need you guys to meet me in cells.’ I mind-linked Jo and Jag in a three way link.

‘Sure, what’s going on?’ Jag asked.

‘Sheryl’s rejecting Kyle and if he accepts the rejection, he’ll be released.’ I replied.

‘Noway! I’m on my way with the popcorn.’ Jo replied excitedly, before I ended the mind-link.

“Jag and Jo will meet us in cells, let’s head down there.” I said, before we left my office and headed towards the dungeon.

Hopefully after this, Sheryl can move on with her life and be happy with her pup. She certainly deserves so much more than what Kyle had to offer her.
