Selling Myself To The Alpha -
Chapter 163
Liana POV
Axel and I stand side by side watching the guards accompany Philip to the van. Alpha Reese steps forward and kicks Philip with all his might on his crown jewels. Philip groans and his knees give in.
"Get up, numb nuts," a guard roughly pulls Philip to his feet and pushes him into the van. And through all of this, people are shouting profanities and spitting at Philip.
It brings me no joy watching him being humiliated. He is getting what he deserves but no amount of t*****e can fix what he destroyed. Posted by Narugi.com always visit us for more novels. Not even the lives that will be saved with his organs, can make up for what he has done.
"How bad is it?" Axel asks Adele and pulls me away from my thoughts.
"It could've been worse," she sighs. "We lost fifty-seven wolves but at least a hundred are hospitalised or out of commission. I hate to admit it, but Philip has hit Moonstone hard."
"I still can't believe he killed Mia, I mean Mandy," Axel shakes his head.
"He was going to make her his Luna."
"Just goes to show how selfish he is," Adele grunts. "He doesn't value any life but his own."
"Any news on The Enforcers?" I ask curiously and stretch my neck to look at Adele.
"No," she sighs. "They all fled with their families. Rena has a team tracking them. I know one team is hardly enough, but I don't have more people to spare. Until The Enforcers are reprehended, well have to be on full alert. We won't survive another attack." "Alphas," Reese smiles as he joins us. "Would you mind if I tag along? I would like to this through till the end."
"Sure," Axel shrugs.
"Thank you," he smiles, and I notice for the first time how handsome he is with his blond hair and brown eyes. "It's been a while since I participated in an attack."
"We should get going before the Wolfsbane wears off and Philip starts mind-linking his pack," Axel says and leads me to our car.
Axel POV
"Dark Moon," I read the name of Philip's pack out loud as we pass through the gates. "It fits."
It is unnaturally quiet as we enter the pack first, followed by more cars. There are no guards at the gates or even people in the street. Is it always like this or are they hiding because they know their alpha attacked another pack? "A dark name for a dark soul," Liana agrees. "Let's pray the members are not like him."
"Philip's sister, Greta, wasn't like him," I sigh. "She was feisty but not dark at all!"
"I know," Liana smiles and takes my hand. "Otherwise, you wouldn't have dated her."
"Sir," Mike interrupts us and points towards a woman crossing the street. "An Omega." "Stop and get her," I say quickly.
I jump out of the car along with Mike and together we approach the woman. But the second she sees us, she starts running.
"We just want to talk," I shout as I grab her by the arm.
"I'm just an Omega," she struggles against my hold. "I don't know anything."
"I'm not asking questions either," I say patiently. "Just mind-link the pack and tell them to gather in front of Philip's house."
"He'll kill me," her voice is a whisper and her eyes big. "I can't do that without his permission."
"We have your alpha, lady," I smile stiffly. "Just please ask the pack to gather, will you?"
Adele POV
I look at the sea of faces that are cautiously looking at us.
Philip is tied up and standing on his knees, but he does not make eye contact with anybody while Axel addresses the crowd and informs them about Philip's defeat. This must be the most humiliating moment in his life. But what I replace most disturbing is the fear in the pack members' eyes. It is radiating from them even though their mighty alpha is in chains.
"Dark Moon is now under lockdown," Axel's voice is clear and strong. "You will remain inside your residence until further notice."
Nobody moves or makes a sound.
"Aren't you going to kill him and become our alpha?" An elderly man asks. "That's how it used to work."
"Alpha Philip endangered numerous packs' alphas," Axel replies. "We will decide together on an appropriate punishment. Until then, you're restricted to your homes and our guards will enforce it." "What about the wolves at Fantasy Island?" A young woman asks. "Who's going to feed them if we can't leave our houses?"
"Shut up, you b!tch," Philip bellows and she stammers backwards in fear.
"Quiet!" Reese snaps and slaps Philip behind his back. "Or I'll cut your tongue out."
Axel and I make eye contact, and he nods.
"You," I address the young woman. "Would you mind talking to me in private?"
Cautiously she looks at Philip but when he does not move or look her way, she nods and comes to me.
"That would be all," Axel says loudly.
"Please hurry home."
The air is filled with anticipation and murmurs as the crowd disperse
"What's your name?" I ask the woman when she is in front of me.
"Lilly," she says softly.
"Tell me everything," I smile and lead her away from Philip.
Luther POV
"Dear goddess," I mumble when we enter the underground slave quarters. "I didn't know places like this still existed."
It is cold and moist as we slowly walk down the hallway.
The stench of human waste is almost unbearable and makes it hard to breathe. The people in the cells quickly retreat into the darkness of their cells when they see us.
"It's about dinner time," Lilly explains softly. "They were expecting Omegas with food. Not potential clients."
"But we're not clients," I look at her in disgust.
"They don't know that," she shrugs. "All they know is when strangers enter, somebody will die."
"I'm going to be sick," Liana mumbles and runs outside, followed by Axel.
"Unlock the cells now!" Adele orders angrily
Lilly walks towards the closest cell and unlocks the gate but the girl inside scurries further into the darkness. And the same happens with all the other cells.
Adele walks into a cell and I brace myself before entering another cell slowly.
"Please no," the girl whimpers when I come closer.
"It's okay," I say softly, and she cowers closer to the wall when I kneel by her.
"I'm not here to hurt you. You're free now."
She tucks her head between her knees and starts crying uncontrollably. Desperate to comfort her, I pick her up. She starts screaming hysterically and I grind my teeth as I carry her outside. With long strides, I walk towards the nearest tree and put her gently down on the grass. She curls into a ball while sobbing.
"Sweetie," I gently touch her shoulder. "Open your eyes and see for yourself. You're free."
"You're lying," she cries. "I'm not free, it's time to hunt."
Her words cut through my soul, and I inhale deeply. When Lilly told us about Fantasy Island, I did not believe her.
What kind of person is sick enough to keep people captive only to let them be hunted like animals?
"Just open your eyes," I try again softly.
My blood is boiling, and I want to rip Philip and his hunting buddies apart, but I cannot show it.
"You're not on the hunting grounds," I continue, and smile in relief when she obeys.
"See?" I take her hand and this time she does not pull back.
"We're here to help. All of you will come home with us. You can have a nice bath and a room with windows."
"Without locks?" She sniffs.
"Sweetie, you can sleep outside if that's what you desire," I smile sympathetically. "I will personally carry your bed onto the lawn." "Who are you?" She looks at me as if she noticed me for the first time.
"Luther from Moonstone," I reply and help her stand up.
"You said all of us," she jerks her hand out of mine and fear returns to her eyes.
"They're like you," I say patiently. "They're too scared to come out. Will you help me?"
"I... what if you're lying?" She looks at me suspiciously.
"Is there anybody you trust?" I ask and put my hands in my pockets to calm her.
"Where's Lilly?" She looks around frantically.
"Inside the quarters," I smile and take a seat on the grass.
Unlocking the cells. You can call her if you want, I'll wait here."
She chews on her bottom lip as she looks in the direction of the quarters and I know that is the last place she wants to enter ever again.
"Alpha Philip isn't here," she whispers after a moment and looks at me with bright eyes. "You're really not lying, are you? He's not here, so you're not a hunter." "m not lying," I chuckle.
"I should tell the others," she frowns. "They need to come out."
"But you don't want to go in there," I nod in understanding.
"I don't," she admits softly. "But I will if you're with me."
"Only if you want to," I stand up.
"Don't let go," she mumbles as she takes my hand.
"I promise," I squeeze her hand.
