doesn't matter anymore. Trevor Gulliford, this will be the last time I explain myself. I didn't kill Samantha."

"lean admit to the murder allegation, and I don't even mind if you vent it out on me, resent me, hate me, or even humiliate me. As long as you can maintain your noble image and live your perfect life, I will never want to mention a single word about this matter... But now, it As soon as Jessica finished saying those words, there was a look of defeat in her red-rimmed eyes. She then turned and ran toward the road full of cars.

That was the fastest she had ever run since she had become crippled.

Just then, a car could not react in time to the sudden appearance of a figure. It was already too late when the driver hit the brake.

"Jessica Jackson!" Trevor called out in shock and rushed forward subconsciously.

However, Jessica was hit and sent flying before falling to the ground again in the next instant.

"Jessica Jackson!"

The man ran to her frantically, carried her up, and drove her to the hospital.

He sped along the journey.

Outside the emergency room, Trevor curled himself in the corner. It was a side that someone

who held a high status in Horington like him had never shown.

Those words Jessica had said previously kept echoing in his mind.

The sight when she ran toward the road that was full of cars flashed before his eyes again and again. He was in so much pain that he was suffocating, his body slightly trembling.

He did not even bother if she was the one who killed Samantha, and he only wanted Jessica.

"Jessica, please don't leave me."

With his face pressing against the wall of the emergency room, he almost forgot when was the last time he had ever begged someone like this.

He was willing to do anything just to have Jessica back to him, and he would rather give up on everything, including his status.

After a few hours, the door of the emergency room was opened, and the doctor walked out.

Trevor hurried over, and the look of anxiety was apparent in his eyes. "How is it? How is she?"

"Sir, I'm sorry. We've tried our best."

Shaking his head helplessly, the doctor let out a sigh.

That news hit Trevor like a bolt from the blue. He felt his heart seem to miss a beat.

"Impossible. That's impossible. She wouldn't leave like this. No way she would just leave like this. You must be lying. I want to go in and have a look. Jessica must be waiting for me."

He hastily pushed the doctor away and darted into the room. Looking at Jessica, who lay on the operating table, showing no signs of life, he fell into a daze.

"Jessica, stop pretending that you can't hear me! I know you're listening!"

His eyes brimming with tears as he reached out and touched her cheek with his slender fingers.

"You won't die, right? You've survived the war for five years, so why would you even die in Horington?

Jessica, you're still alive, right? Say something!"

He shook her body vigorously, but the next instant, he leaned over her and burst into tears. "Please, I'm begging you. Say something! Please!"

"You, bad guy! You were the one who caused my mommy's death! I'm going to end you!"

Bennett, who heard the news in the hospital, sneaked over when Monica was not around. Staring at his mother who was lying on the operating table, he hit Trevor with all his strength.

The next instant, his tiny fist was grabbed by a big hand and stopped in mid-air. Trevor turned around and looked at Bennett, his eyes filled with shock. "Did you say she's your mom?!" "You're a bad guy, so I'm not going to respond to you.

I must end you to avenge my mommy!"

Bennett's hand was restrained, so he could not move a bit. Enraged, he lifted his legs to kick Trevor.

Trevor pulled Bennett into his arms and hugged him tightly.

Bennett was Jessica's child, and he had Rh-negative blood too. Trevor could be sure that Bennett was his son even without any test.

He was the only man Jessica had been with.

"Why am I such a fool!?" he muttered to himself.

For the first time in his life, Trevor felt he was nothing but a useless loser.

Everyone could tell how much Bennett and Asher resembled him, yet the thought that they were his children had never crossed his mind. And he even thought that Jessica had gotten rid of the babies six years ago. He looked up and fixed his gaze on that cold corpse. His lip was bleeding, for he had bit it so hard. The sickening, metallic taste filled his mouth.
