Sextuplets From Ruthless Love -
Chapter 47
The next day, he held a funeral for Jessica and dressed appropriately for the occasion.
There was no one from the Queen family or even someone from the Jackson family at the funeral. Trevor knew that Jessica hated them, but she hated him more.
It would be the last time for him to go against her, and regardless of her wish, she was his wife.
"Mr. Gulliford, I couldn't replace them."
"How is that possible?" Monica was worried sick at the side. "There were four boys and a girl in that house, and I specifically recruited someone to look after them. How is it possible that you couldn't replace them?" Trevor turned to look at Martin, his eyes full of coldness.
Martin trembled subconsciously and hung his head low at that sight. "Mr. Gulliford, I really couldn't replace them. There was no one in the house. We searched around the neighborhood for a whole night and even went to those places they had possibly visited, but the children were nowhere to be found." "Go look forthem again!"
Trevor lowered his gaze and stared at Bennett, who was mourning next to him. He felt his heart throb.
Bennett knelt before Jessica's tombstone, and his eyes were filled to the brim with tears.
He cried out, "Mommy abandoned me. Asher and my siblings left me behind too. What's the point of me living alone then?"
"Bennett, I'll replace them," Trevor assured in a gentle tone. Then, he heaved a deep sigh. He stared at Jessica's photo on the tombstone, and his eyes became teary again.
"You're not my daddy! I have no Daddy, and I only have Mommy. I hate you. Get away from me. You caused Mommy's death. It was you!"
Bennett stood up abruptly. Even though his figure was small, he exuded an imposing aura as he pointed at Trevor with his chubby hand, and resentment filled his eyes. "Martin, bring Bennett and Monica back to the
Gulliford residence. Also, hire a few more housekeepers to look after Bennett. You know the consequences if anything goes wrong," said
Trevor as he lowered his voice deliberately.
"Yes, Mr. Gulliford."
With that, Martin turned around and left the cemetery with Bennett and Monica.
Trevor only went back to the Gulliford residence in the evening after settling Jessica's funeral matters.
"Has Bennett fallen asleep?"
He looked disheveled, and his gaze was dull yet vacant.
"Mr. Bennett has fallen asleep, but he threw a tantrum for a while," replied Lina in a soft voice.
Her heart ached when she saw the dejected look on Trevor's face. She had watched him grow up, after all.
Trevor did not reply a word. He merely strode upstairs and went into the study. There was surveillance camera footage at Samantha's cemetery sent by Martin on the laptop. Staring at how Jessica had struggled to fight back and got injured in the scene, he clasped his hands together and placed them next to his lips. Tears started streaming down his face. Who is it? Not many knew about this, so I should really look into it, he thought.
After instructing someone to look into the matter the same night, he stood up and brewed a cup of coffee for himself. He sat on the couch and stared blankly at Jessica in the scene.
It was a sleepless night. The next day, he received a call from his subordinate around four o'clock in the morning.
"Mr. Gulliford, we've gathered some clues. We found Lina's phone number on the phones of those people in the cemetery. Besides, Melissa has something to do with Ms. Jackson's aunt, Camila Queen's car accident as well." "Okay, I got it." Trevor hung up the phone. He looked up and saw Lina walking in from the kitchen.
"Mr. Gulliford, go have some sleep. You will ruin your body if you keep this going."
"How long have you been taking care of me?"
There was no hint of emotions on his face. He rubbed his slender fingers around the rim of the cup.
"I started taking care of you when you were two years old. So it has been twenty-six years," replied Lina with a bright smile. She was holding a cloth and wiping the coffee stain on the coffee table caused by Trevor.
"It has been 26 years." Trevor let out a deep sigh. He lifted his hand and massaged his temples. "26 years. I'm sure you know my character and temper well, don't you? There's no need for me to take action. Go ahead and tell me yourself."
