Reminded of her defeat, she was feeling a little resentful.

Now that she thought of it, she was curious if Trevor had used any tricks that day.

"Let's play some snooker."

Just as Trevor spoke, Bennett put down the book in his hands.

Noticing Bennett's interest in the sport, her eyes sparkled in delight.

"Could Bennett be interested in snooker too?" she wondered.

At first, she didn't want to join them, but as she saw Bennett walking over, she stood up and followed them to Trevor's private snooker room.

With artisan handcrafted cue sticks, a clean and tidy environment, and custom-tailored gloves, the room was like heaven for any snooker lover. Trevor did not hold back and took the first shot.

Jessica planned to hang back. She spectated intently as her nine-year-old Bennett held a cue stick and aimed at a ball with his body bent forward. "Gosh, he's so cute!" Jessica screamed inwardly.

Looking at how adorable Bennett was, Jessica's smile was filled to the brim with tender affection.

But Bennett was still so young. If she couldn't beat Trevor, how could he?

He did not know how to defend, and his shots were poor. In the blink of an eye, Trevor cleared the table.

Bennett could not even win a single round.

Looking at his discouraged face, Jessica was irritated.

She grabbed the cue stick from Bennett's hands and asked, "Mr. Gulliford, shall we have a go?"

Why are you bullying a child?

Come bully me instead if you're so good!

"Sure."

Anticipating her indignant reaction, Trevor nodded.

With the first strike, she potted in two balls immediately.

Immediately after, she potted three more consecutively before it was Trevor's turn.

Trevor made four shots, and then it was back to Jessica.

Jessica cleared all the striped balls before finally potting the black 8 ball.

"Awesome!" Bennett exclaimed as he excitedly clapped his hands. His opinion of the woman had improved a little.

He had never seen anyone beat his father in snooker, so he was impressed by the woman.

"Nice moves."

As Jessica put down her cue, Trevor looked on and tapped his slender fingers on the table lightly.

"I did not expect Ms. Lockett to be so good at snooker," Martin chimed into flatter Jessica according to Trevor's plan.

Others might not see it, but Martin noticed Trevor intentionally striking the ball at an odd angle, causing it to miss the hole.

"I'm just lucky to be talented. I don't

play a lot, Jessica remarked

sly as she wiped the

off her palm with a tissue.

"Did you hearthat? Miss Secretary here beat me by just being talented! What a burn!" Trevor pretended to be offended, rapping the table with the cue in his hands.

"Why don't you guys go for another round?" understanding Trevor's intention, Martin suggested a rematch.

"Erm, I don't think so?" Jessica refused by waving her hand.

"Come on, Ms. Lockett, play another round! You're so good!" encouraged Bennett.

Bennett's words moved her, and Jessica picked up the cue once more.

As long as Bennett wanted her to, she could keep playing, and nothing could stop her. Okay, maybe Trevor could.

After beating Trevor in the first

game, in the matches that followed, Jessica had no chance to take a shot other than the opening strikes.

Apparently, Trevor was good enough to bully her!

She lost six games in a row.

Swr

Forget about Jessica. No one could take this kind of mental blow.

In the past competitions in Horington, she was a legendary snooker player. Yet, she couldn't even touch the ball today.

"As expected, Mr. Gulliford is still the more skillful player."

"Yes, Mr. Gulliford is amazing at snooker."

As the crowd exclaimed their praises, the cue in Jessica's hands trembled, and a spark within her ignited her competitive spirit.

"It was just raw talent," Trevor joked lightheartedly with a smile.

"Mr. Gulliford, why don't we have one last match to replace out who's the better player once and for all?"

Jessica's eyes narrowed, and a speck of ferocity burned in her eyes.
