Shattered Vows Shining Comeback -
Chapter 57
Chapter 57 What Right Do I Have
“Take it down now,” Jake said with a frown. “Things didn’t go
go they
the way you think after you left.”
Bradley was incensed. “How could it not be? She’s exactly that kind of woman. If you hadn’t chased me away, 1 would’ve definitely slapped that shameless couple and shown them what decency is!”
Thinking back to Jake’s despondent expression, Bradley felt a surge of frustration. His anger grew as he continued to express his thoughts.
“She toyed with me at the equestrian club and even threatened me. I need to make sure the internet knows her true colors.”
“Really? I’m waiting for your slap.”
Gwen’s icy voice pierced Bradley’s ears, causing him to jump in fright.
“Why are you everywhere?” He shook off the goosebumps on his arms.
He was always caught badmouthing her. It seemed that every time he spoke ill of her, she was right behind him.
Gwen stood behind him with her arms crossed. She turned to Judy and said, “Well, no need to investigate anymore. The culprit is right in front of us.”
Yara pointed a finger at Bradley and scolded, “So, you’re the one bullying my babe! I’ll deal with you today!”
Gwen stopped Yara, then pulled out her phone and tapped a few times before shaking it at Bradley. “I just sent your wife photos of you with these two ladies.”
Bradley instantly released the women he was holding and shouted, “Gwen Lawson, you’re playing dirty!”
“I heard your wife married down, and you don’t hold much status at home. If she replaces out how you’re fooling around, do you think she’ll ask for a divorce when you get back?
Bradley stammered, “W–What nonsense! My wife would never believe that.”
However, he nervously checked his phone. At the next moment, a call from his wife came through.
He quickly stepped aside and answered meekly, “Hello, honey?”
On the other end, a furious voice erupted, forcing Bradley to quickly turn down the volume on his phone.
“I’ll give you half an hour! Get home now! If not, you’ll face the consequences!”
“okay, okay. I’m coming right now! Please don’t be mad, honey.”
After hanging up, Bradley rushed back to Gwen, fuming. “What are you doing? Do you know this could all me? If I get killed, that’s way worse than your reputation being ruined!”
Gwen’s voice turned icy at those words, her intensity rivaling that of Bradley’s furious wife. “Your reputation is important, but mine is worthless?
with piercing eyes, she glared at Bradley and the crowd behind him. “What exactly are you all so proud of?”
Was her reputation supposed to suffer for their unfounded accusations? Was Bradley’s reputation somehow worth more than hers?
Jake considered stepping forward to explain, but the moment he met Gwen’s furious gaze, he fell silent.
He was reminded of the defamation Gwen had faced online because of him. At once, guilt washed over him.
Gwen silently mocked herself. How foolish she had been to desperately try to get along with these people!
When she married Jake, they looked down on her as they thought she had climbed the social ladder. They often belittled her during their gatherings.
Now that she was divorced, they maintained their lofty demeanor, thinking she somehow benefited from Jake.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. At that moment, a janitor passed by. The bucket he carried contained remnants of a customer’s vomit, floating with yellow grease.
Without hesitation, she grabbed the bucket and splashed it all over Bradley.
Bradley screamed, horrified by the stench that enveloped him. He looked around for help, but his friends had backed
away.
Jake frowned and turned his face away. “Go wash up. Don’t come near me.”
Gwen took the paper towels Yara handed her and wiped her hands. “Why didn’t you cash that check I gave you? Did you throw it away? If you did, I’ll write you another one. I can cover your clothing expenses a few times.”
With that, she hugged her Yara and Judy and headed toward the stage.
Bradley nudged Jake. “You need to control this woman, Jake. She’s getting more and more outrageous!” Jake shot him a cold glance, his frustration boiling over. “What right do I have to do that? We’re divorced!”
