Chapter 65 Not For Sale

Xenia could tell from the audience’s reaction that her decision to have Gwen close the show was

absolutely right.

Meanwhile, Theodore was equally stunned. He never expected to run into Gwen again.

Just moments before, he had felt lost and disheartened, believing that fate had played a cruel joke on him. He deeply regretted having pushed away the woman he considered destined to be his.

He had even made up his mind to atone for his mistakes by no longer interfering in Gwen’s life.

But after he saw Gwen walking out of the stage, his heart started to beat rapidly again, just like the day when they first met…

“Mom, look! It’s that jinx again!” Caitlin said to Sarah.

Sarah replied harshly, “Do you think I’m blind?

“Fine.” Caitlin shut her mouth.

Her return to the family had earned her harsh criticism, and now, even breathing in front of her relatives felt like a mistake.

As Sarah looked at Ocean’s Tears, a different idea began to form in her mind. Perhaps she should grit her teeth and buy this piece to reclaim her status.

Recently, the Hall family’s reputation had taken a hit. She had endured humiliation at the luxury store when Gwen’s black card was presented, and now, Caitlin had been taken to the police again because of the diamond bracelet incident.

The reputation of Sarah and her daughter in the Bellmont elite circle was so low that even a dog would be treated with more respect. Just the thought of them likely brought to mind words like “broke“, “pretentious

and “petty thieves“.

Since she was wearing the final piece in the show, Gwen didn’t leave the runway after her walk.

Xenia, as the lead designer, stepped forward to express her gratitude.

“Thank you for the love and support for Vere Jewels. I would like to thank my staff for always being around to helpas run the show, and, of course, I would like to express my utmost gratitude to-

Sarah suddenly cut in, “Ms. Ziegler, I would like to buy this necklace no matter the price. I really love it.”

Xenia’s sharp gaze swept over at Sarah, and she said, “Hi, it’s very rude to interrupt someone mid–speech.”

The other audience members also looked at Sarah with disdain.

Sarah stood with an air of arrogance, her smugness evident in her eyes. “All you care about is selling your jewelry, right? Well, here’s your chance. Sell it to me now.”

This time, she had come prepared, having borrowed a high–limit card from Garrett. She was determined to reclaim her status in Bellmont..

Gwen’s cool voice echoed through the audience. “This necklace is not for sale.”

“What right do you have to say it’s not for sale? You’re just a model showcasing a jewelry piece for this exhibition!” Sarah shot back, standing up without a hint of restraint.

Xenia smiled lightly. “I’m sorry, but she absolutely has that right. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to formally introduce you to my muse and the true designer of this jewelry–Ms. Lawson!”

At her words, all eyes once again turned to the stunning, cool–eyed Gwen.

“Wow, it’s amazing that such a beautiful necklace was designed by her!”

“Did you hear that? The renowned designer just said her muse is none other than Gwen!”

“Oh my gosh, I’m appreciating her more and more!”

Sarah crossed her arms, scoffing coldly. “So what if she’s the designer? I’m buying from the brand, Vere Jewels. If I want it, you have to sell it!”

Xenia shattered Sarah’s delusions. “Unfortunately, all the materials used in this piece are private creations of Ms. Lawson. This piece was only lent for the exhibition.”

Sarah was left speechless, her features twisting into an ugly expression.

The murmurs from the crowd rose again, drowning Sarah in a sea of whispers.

“Turns out she’s a stunningly beautiful, talented, and wealthy lady! That’s just too cool!”

“That ex–mother–in–law of hers is really putting on a show.”

“The designer has her own integrity; a few bucks can’t just buy her.”

“The look of a nouveau riche is just ridiculous.”

Sarah was pulled back by Caitlin and sat up straight in her seat. Just as she was about to cover her face. and leave, a swarm of reporters appeared with microphones in hand, blocking their way.

“Ms. Lander, do you feel humiliated getting rejected by your ex–daughter–in–law in public?”

“This necklace has a conservative estimate of around a hundred million. I heard that you couldn’t even afford an 18–million–dollar necklace at the luxury store before. Are you just trying to save your image with this claim to buy it?”

“Ms. Lawson suffered so much humiliation in the Hall family before, and now, you want to buy her designed piece. Does this mean the Hall family has realized their mistake and feels guilty toward her? Do you wish to make amends?”
