Yoel teared up when his career was on the brink. Placing his palms together, he pleaded toSebastian and Winston between sobs. “Dr. Lloyd, it was all my fault!
“I didn’t think it through. D–Don’t do this to me. What will I do if I’m blacklisted in theprofession?”
He couldn’t accept being blacklisted in the medical profession, not after the effort he put intostudying hard and graduating from medical school. That would be a death blow to him.
Millie’s gaze was devoid of sympathy, as Yoel had always looked down on people like her.She believed he was reaping what he sowed.
If he couldn’t extend fairness to his colleagues, how would he treat his vulnerable patients? The mere thought sent a shudder down her spine.
It finally struck her the reason behind Yoel’s enthusiasm when he picked up his patient fromthe emergency department, as the patient worked for a military general. It appeared that Yoelwanted to forge connections and expand his network.
How despicable!
Sebastian glared at Yoel. “Don’t plead to us. Did you pause and think about theconsequences when you tried to ruin your colleague’s life?”
Yoel growled at him. “What do you mean? Ruin her life? Am I not doing the right thing byreporting her? What did I do wrong?”
He looked at Millie indignantly. “Millie Caldwell, tell them. You gave Joanne Caldwell yourplace in medical school, didn’t you?”
Winston stared at Millie in shock and confusion. All they knew was the controversysurrounding Joanna’s qualifications. No one was aware that Millie had given up her place forJoanna.
Was Millie really involved in this matter?
Millie, taken aback, regretted traveling to the hospital to spectate, as Yoel wouldn’t stopdragging her into
the matter.
“Dr. Caldwell, did you give up your place to Joanna?” Hazel whispered to Millie. “Buteveryone thought you paid your way into medical school.”
Everyone was stunned by Hazel’s words. Indeed, it was public knowledge that the Caldwells,an established medical family, had produced an untalented daughter.
The day Millie attended medical school, rumors swirled that she bought her way into theschool. However, when Joanna was accepted into medical school, everyone assumed sheearned her place.
Honestly speaking, the incidents surrounding her admission were a distant memory. At thattime, she willingly gave up her place to Joanna because they were on good terms, and shewould never regret the help she extended to Joanna.
“That’s not true! You will know if you look into the admission history. Millie was among thefirst batch of students admitted to the school! An announcement was even released on theofficial website!” Yoel bellowed.

Winston continued staring at Millie in disbelief. She bashfully said to Yoel, “Stop it.”
She didn’t intend to ruin Joanna’s life, not because she was a saint, but because she refusedto make public the events from her past.
Although she and Joanna no longer saw eye to eye, they were once very close.
However, the more Millie wanted Yoel to shut up, the more he wanted to talk. “Millie Caldwellwas admitted to medical school on her own merits!
“Joanna Lowell took advantage of their close friendship and talked Millie into giving up herplace. She knew nothing about the field of medicine. Her knowledge was surface–level atbest!”
He continued, “Did you know what Joanna achieved during her year in the Cardiac SurgeryDepartment? She bragged to her colleagues and fought with the families of patients all day!”
Yoel shot up from his seat agitatedly. He decided to play the villain since he had nothingmore to lose. Winston studied Yoel with a somber expression without interjecting. He wasinterested in what Yoel had
to say.
