League 301

Chapter 301

All eyes were on Millie, anticipating her confirmation. Winston had never looked at her with suchintensity before.

She speechlessly stared at everyone in the office, thinking, “Should I admit that I’m not a loser? That I indeed gave up my place in medical school to Joanna?”

“Say something. Why are you hesitating after what Joanna did to you?” Yoel glared at Milliefiercely.” Don’t be a doormat. Joanna won’t appreciate it anyway!”

He continued pressuring her. “She took your place in medical school, took your man, and picked onyou! Millie Caldwell, are you going to tolerate all of that?”

Winston stared straight at Millie as he clenched his fist. He was waiting for a “yes“.

“Millie, tell us anything. Don’t be scared,” Sebastian calmly assured her and expressed their trust inher.

She turned to Winston with a smile. She asked, “If I tell the truth, will you blame me for hurting yourfirst

love?”

He was stumped. Millie looked at him with a serious expression. Finally, she admitted, “Yes. That’sright. I gave up my place to Joanna.”

She didn’t care whether he blamed her for saying it out loud; she was done putting up with Joanna.

Yoel was right. She couldn’t tolerate all of that. She’d done enough tolerating over the years, andwhat did she get out of it?

Eyes filled with shock, Winston frowned in disbelief.

“I was accepted into the Yerwick University School of Medicine. Back then, I was close to Joanna. She wanted to study there but failed to gain admission. I felt sorry and gave up my place to her.

“The dean really wanted me there, and he offered to admit both me and Joanna as a sort of one–for–one deal.”

Millie was the one who rightfully gained entry, and Joanna was the one who tagged along.

However, she was puzzled by Yoel’s statement. How exactly did he learn about the truth?

A deafening silence descended on the office. Millie had thought of the day when she revealed thetruth- that she wasn’t the loser and didn’t buy her way into medical school.

But she never expected to reveal the truth in front of everyone in Sebastian’s office.

Winston swallowed hard. He croaked, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

“What could I say to you? Should I have told you that Joanna was admitted to medical schoolthanks to me?” She smiled at him. “Why would I tell you when you didn’t even ask in the firstplace? Besides…”

Millie suddenly paused. He stared at her. What else?

She grinned. “It’s not like you’d believe me.”

Even if Millie told him, all Joanna had to do was act cute for him to take her word against Millie’s.

Winston was at a loss for words. Awkwardness filled the room.

Lainey and Sebastian exchanged a look before turning to Millie. She must have endured a lot ofunfair

treatment over the years.

Sebastian grappled with remorse at the thought of Millie being labeled a loser despite her excellentskills. He had a newfound respect for Millie, who had the forbearance and grace to endure thecriticisms when she was the real deal all along.

Millie was more gracious and dignified than they could ever be.

“The truth has finally come to light!” Yoel waved and laughed loudly, attracting Millie’s attention.

He stood in front of her and shook his head. “Young lady, you should be good to others only if theyappreciate you.”
