A loud bang was heard as the door to the basement slammed open.

Concurrently, the person who slammed into the door fell to the ground.

Winnie and Yulissa turned in the direction of the door in unison and saw that the person was Christopher.

Due to insufficient stamina, he wasn't able to stand back up even after lying on the ground for a while.

His entire body was covered in blood, and his face had turned terribly pale. Despite that, he still tried so hard to stand up. It made Winnie's heart ache when she saw that.

Staring at him, she spoke in a deep voice. "Stop moving. You can't afford to bleed anymore. Stop it!"

As both of them gazed at each other, Christopher pursed his lips silently.

He simply stared straight at Winnie, who was dangling in front of him.

He then gritted his teeth and stood back up.

The instant he started moving again, his wound bled once more.

Unable to watch him suffer any longer, Winnie exclaimed, "Stop moving! Didn't you hear me the first time?"

He was still staring at her wordlessly.

With great difficulty, he moved his feet. Even though it was only a few short steps, it still took him a few seconds to complete them.

Instead of walking to Winnie, he arrived in front of Yulissa.

Christopher had a wolfishness quality to him. While years of institutional training had polished him, turning him into a masculine and just person, deep down inside, a part of him was still feral.

It was his training and sense of justice that helped suppress the wildness inside him. However, at that moment, he didn't want to restrain that part of him anymore.

Christopher's eyes were fixed on Yulissa. It was as though he could swallow her whole with his look alone.

Yulissa had always been somewhat fearful of him. At that moment, she was shocked by his intimidating look, so much so that she subconsciously took half a step backward.

"Let her go!" No longer was he concealing his utter ruthlessness as he stared at her with his sharpest look.

Reflexively, Yulissa wanted to back away further, but he grabbed her neck in a single motion.

Christopher glared at Yulissa with gritted teeth. Because he was exerting his strength, the veins on his arm and forehead were protruding. "Where's the key? Give it to me!" Yulissa's face was turning red due to suffocation. "W-What are you saying? What key?"

"Stop playing dumb!" His grip tightened. "The key to open the shackles. I'm telling you to let Winnie go!"

"Let me go first!" She felt her neck was on the verge of being crushed by him. "How can I give you the key if you don't let me go?"

"Give me the key!" Christopher growled. He wasn't going to fall for Yulissa's trick and let go because that was the last bit of strength he could conjure.

Should he let her go right away, he would promptly fall to the ground and become completely immobilized, like a puddle of mud stuck to the floor.

If he couldn't stand up anymore, his and Winnie's story would end right there and then.

Yulissa was almost out of breath.

She was close to pulling out the key because she was afraid Christopher really would suffocate her, killing her in a painful manner. Of course, she didn't want to die. She still wanted to live and replace her grandfather, after all.

A plan was even formulated in her mind, which involved her ambushing him from behind when he grabbed the key to rescue Winnie.

However, she quickly realized that was a stupid plan. Why should I wait until he grabbed the key before I retaliate? He's injured! He's about to die from massive blood loss! There's no reason for me to be afraid of him. Do I have a loose screw in my head? Based on how much effort it took him to stand up earlier, I bet the strength he's using to grab my neck is probably all the energy he has left.

When Yulissa's train of thought ended there, she suddenly smiled.

There was no longer any fear in her heart as she stared at Christopher.

She held his arms tightly before abruptly raising her knee and ramming it right into the wound on his abdomen.

That was his most severe wound. She believed he would go down soon if she continued to attack the same spot.

Truthfully, her strategy was effective.

Christopher's body was no more than an empty shell by that point. He had expended all the strength left in his body when he grabbed Yulissa earlier.

After being kicked by her twice, his body couldn't hold up any longer, and he dropped to the ground.

As she watched him collapse in front of her, she temporarily stopped moving her leg.

Yulissa gently touched her neck, which was almost crushed by Christopher's hand, and sneered, "Come on! Suffocate me! Where did the strength you muster earlier go? Stand back up, Christopher!" Holding his wound and curling up on the ground, he muttered intermittently, "Let her go... You can do whatever you want with me, either beating me up or suffocating me... Just let her go..." She cackled as she caressed her neck in anger. "Let her go?"

Then she couldn't help but kick him again and roared, "You two sure have a telepathic connection! She asked me to let you go, and you're asking me to let her go! Do you think it's even possible?" With every sentence she uttered, Yulissa gave Christopher a violent kick. "Why should I let her go? Do you think I like her as you do? I hate her! I wish she would die! Do you know you two are making things very difficult for me? Earlier, she was crying and begging me to let you go, and now, you're asking me to release her. What should I do, hmm? How about you teach me what to do?"

The more she thought about it, the more furious she became. Why is there always someone trying to save Winnie whenever she's in danger? Why is Christopher trying to kill me in the end, even though I risked my life to provide so many leads to him?

"Are all you men sick in the head, Christopher? Why are you all so willing to give your life to save her? You were doing it, and Xavier did too, although Xavier ultimately got her hand in marriage. But what about you? What did you get from her? A look? A few words of comfort? Is your brain all messed up? Is it worth it? How about this?" Yulissa let out a huge sigh. "I'll give you a choice. You can beg me to send you to the hospital. I'll replace you the best doctor and the best place to recuperate. As for this woman, I'll stop torturing her, but I will keep her locked up in here and let her fend for herself. If she's lucky, someone may replace this room and bring her out of here. Of course, if she's not, she may die of thirst and hunger."

Her mind had already fallen into madness as she squatted down and slowly supported Christopher up. "If you kneel in front of me and beg me now, I'll take you to a hospital. I promise."

It was then Yulissa helped him up and put him in a kneeling position.

Staring at her twisted face, he was suddenly amused. "You're such a pitiful woman. Do you want someone to kneel before you that badly? I'm afraid I'll disappoint you because I'm not going to do that." "Why?" Yulissa grabbed his short hair, forcefully lifting his head. "Don't you want to live?"

A cold smile formed on Christopher's face. "The ugly, twisted expression on your face and your crazy obsession have told me everything I need to know. No matter what I do, you're going to make sure I suffer. In that case, there's no need for me to sell out my dignity in front of you."

"Oh? You're saying I'm ugly and twisted, is it?" His words maddened her.

Then, she forcefully struck his head against the wall, each strike harder than the one before.

"You want dignity, is it? In that case, I'm going to tear your dignity away and trample on it hard!" As Yulissa spoke, she stood and grabbed a stick sitting in a corner before approaching Winnie.

Winnie's left hand was already let down by Yulissa, but her right arm was still dangling in the air.

Without hesitation or delay, Yulissa swung the stick in the direction of Winnie's right arm.

"Stop!" When Christopher returned to his senses, it was already too late for him to stop Yulissa.

Yulissa's stick had already landed on Winnie's arm. It was pretty evident that, even if the attack didn't break Winnie's bone, it would undoubtedly fracture it.

There was no way for Winnie to dodge the attack. All she could do was take it.

She only groaned in pain once. No matter how painful it got afterward, she resisted the temptation to let her voice out.

Yulissa was pissed off when she saw that. I want to see her begging me for mercy as I beat her up! Why is she enduring this silently? What's the point?

"Are you taunting me, Winnie? Aren't you in pain? If you are, shout then! Cry! Let me witness your wretched death!"

Winnie's entire body was covered in sweat. She would not cry in front of Yulissa because she held back the tears generated in reaction to the pain. With clenched teeth, she glared at Yulissa and sneered, "You're not getting anything you want from me!"

"Okay then!" Yulissa's eyes turned red from anger. "I can see you're unwilling to give in to me. In that case, allow me to give you a taste of what it's like to have your entire body beaten blue and black. I will make you suffer the pain I once endured."

"No! I beg you!" Right as she was about to strike Winnie again, Christopher suddenly struggled to sit straight up. He pleaded, "I'll kneel and beg you for mercy. Please don't hurt her. I beg you, Yulissa."

"Now you're begging me?" A grin abruptly appeared on Yulissa's face. There were tears in her eyes as she stared agitatedly at Winnie. "See that? Someone's yielding to me! He's begging me to stop! Did you see it? He was so willing to die earlier and was arguing with me about his dignity."

She turned to him with anticipation in her crazed look. "Kneel then! Kneel in front of me now!"

"Don't!" With red-rimmed eyes, Winnie looked at Christopher and yelled, "Don't kneel before her! Don't do it, Christopher!"

"I'm sorry." He glanced at her before kneeling in front of Yulissa and apologizing to Winnie, "If I had listened to her earlier, your hand wouldn't have been broken. I'm sorry."

"No!" Winnie shook her head. "Get up! Get back up right now, Christopher! You're a cop! Why are you kneeling in front of a criminal? You didn't do anything bad to me! The person who hurt me was her, not you! You don't need to feel guilty about it!"

Christopher's bloodshot eyes welled up with tears as he gazed at her. Yet, he didn't know what to say to her.

All he did was kneel in front of Yulissa and clutch her leg. "Please, let her go. You can trample on my dignity however you want as long as you let her go."

Yulissa admired the man kneeling in front of her and nodded. "So this is what you look like when you're kneeling. You look quite well-behaved like this. I still remember how high and mighty you appeared when you captured me. Oh, how the tables turned. I want you to bark and crawl on the ground like a dog, Christopher. Become my dog."

"No! Christopher!" Winnie roared when she saw Christopher was about to get down on all fours in front of Yulissa. "If you do this, I'm breaking off our friendship!"

However, he didn't even bat an eye at her.

Like a real dog, he crawled around Yulissa and barked like one after she put a chain around his neck.

Still, she remained unsatisfied. Patting his head, she ordered, "My shoe's dirty. Lick it clean."

"Christopher!" Watching him act like that made Winnie feel even more humiliated than if she was degraded.

Thus, she jerked her head away, unable to watch him act like that for even a second longer.

When Yulissa noticed that, she promptly raised her leg to lift Christopher's chin.

She stared at him and ordered, "This is no good. Our only audience member isn't watching the performance. Quickly, go and tell her to open her eyes and let her take a good look at you. Otherwise, I may start swinging my stick again."

He crawled very slowly to Winnie.

Lowering her head, Winnie peered at him with falling tears.

Initially, there was no light left in Christopher's eyes. However, when he saw Winnie, that light flickered back into existence. "No need to feel sorry for me. If I hadn't gotten through that door earlier, you'd be doing this right now. My heart would've been shattered if that had happened instead. I don't think I'm going to make it, so you must. I've come this far, anyway, so I may as well listen to her command. Look at me. Just look at me for one more second. That way, someone will remember me for one second longer in this world."

A small pool of blood formed below his body when he stayed in front of Winnie for a while.

She was choking and sobbing uncontrollably.

Peering at her, Christopher grinned. "If I die, you'll remember me, right?"

"I will!" She nodded. "I'll never forget you."

Clap! Clap! Clap! Out of nowhere, Yulissa clapped her hands. "Wow, what a touching scene. It gave me goosebumps. Anyway, what should we play next? Hmm... Oh, I know."

Then she pulled the chain and dragged Christopher back. "You like Winnie a lot, right? Today, I'm going to give you an opportunity of a lifetime. I'll let you play the role of a dog in heat. See that camera? Take off your clothes and f*ck the woman you love. What do you think? It's something you've been dreaming of doing, right?"

Christopher thought his dignity had already been reduced to nothing, yet she still managed to astonish him with her idea. "Are you crazy?"

"Yes! That's the resentment I want to see! It seems like what I said earlier was inconsequential compared to this! This is what will truly make you feel ashamed! Let's do this, then! Otherwise, I'll beat the woman you love to death in front of you!"

"You should just kill me!" That was something he couldn't do in front of her.

"What are you saying?" That ticked Yulissa off. "You don't want to play along anymore? Are you just going to quit halfway through? You're not taking me for a fool, are you? Fine, it seems like I have to use violence again. Although, truth be told, I much prefer playing games than beating people up."

As she spoke, she lifted her stick.

Christopher promptly hugged her leg while feeling dead inside. "Fine, I'll do as you ask. Just don't hurt her."

"Good! As long as you're obedient, I won't do anything to her. Now, look at the camera and the woman you love."

He crawled toward Winnie numbly.

Subconsciously, Winnie closed her eyes.

Yet, Christopher immediately stopped her. "Look at me, Winnie!"

Winnie could tell that something was off when she heard him speak confidently.

Without delay, she opened her eyes and gazed at Christopher.

Their current position was inside Yulissa's blind spot.

Then she realized Christopher was tapping his finger on his chest as he started unbuttoning his shirt.

That was their special way of communicating with each other.

While Winnie understood the message he was sending, it made her feel awful that they had to communicate like that under such extreme circumstances.

Soon, Christopher was completely naked. He considered it humiliating because he felt that not only was he being degraded, but Winnie was as well.

Sadly, he had no other choice.

"You have a pretty fine body!" Yulissa started examining him in detail. "Go on, then. Let your goddess see how capable you are. She'll also be able to compare you to Xavier in terms of performance and see who's better."

"Yulissa White!" Winnie's eyes were filled with disgust as she glared at Yulissa. "You're a deranged pervert! I won't look! Not even a peep!"

She promptly closed her eyes.

Yulissa narrowed hers. "You don't want to? Oh, but you must, even if you refuse to! You will watch it happen!"

Enraged, she approached Winnie and forcefully peeled the latter's eyes open.

In response, Winnie struggled. The more she struggled, the angrier Yulissa became.

Yulissa did it very forcefully as she was on the verge of completely losing her mind. Just as she thought she would have to gouge Winnie's eyes out, the latter suddenly opened her eyes.

At the same time, Winnie rapidly sliced Yulissa's throat with the sharp hairpin in her left hand.

She intentionally closed her eyes and provoked Yulissa earlier to bait the latter to come closer so she could attack.

Concurrently, Yulissa watched her blood pour out of her skin. She grabbed her neck and widened her eyes in disbelief. Even though I've already won and humiliated these two, why did things still turn out like this? Am I destined to be a loser? Was I always fated to lose to Winnie?

Her hand was still pressing on her neck as she staggered backward, her body and mind crumbling under the weight of her defeat.

Yulissa dropped to the ground as she was stunned.

Using that opportunity, Christopher swiftly grabbed the key on her, covered the lower half of his body with his clothes, and inched toward Winnie.

He was only three steps away from Winnie, but he collapsed after taking only one step forward and blacked out.
