Sold To The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 39
Aria’s POV
“I’m going to tell you again, if I have not already said it about ten million times, girl, you look so sexy, Aria, I’m totally floored.” Sophia said as we came down from the town in front of the club and I looked at her shyly, hopping from one foot to the other nervously.
I had refused and nearly fled the room when she had thrown the red glittery dress at me and asked me to try it on and after a lot of back and forth between us, I had finally forced my body into the dress and was floored when she showed me how I looked in front of the mirror.
I had seen many women around me look attractive and had never thought that word could have applied to me. When I looked in the mirror on a normal day, with my freckles and brown hair, I thought I looked cute, like a pet would but by the time Sophia was done with my makeup and I had worn the complete outfit with heels, I had looked so different, it was a shocker that I still felt like the same person, but more powerful and confident.
However as we looked at the club’s sign, I developed cold feet. The last time I had been at a club was thanks to Nicole, my best friend and it had not been this big and teeming with people.
“Come on, let’s go in. We are regulars here.” Sophia said, gently pulling in past the two large bouncers who took one nod at her and allowed the four of us in.
My eyes looked around the club in wonder as colored lights filled the room and changed colours, scanning the entire room to where large speakers were mounted and a stage where strippers displayed, moving in a manner that made me blush when one winked at me as she caught me watching her. The waitresses were dressed almost as skimpily as the strippers, holding glowing trays of drinks and the bar was filled with people, making order after order, bottles of different kinds of drinks lining the stand.
The music was so loud, it was almost impossible to hear if another person spoke to you except you could focus on reading their mouths and as I followed Sophia through the sea of bodies, making sure to not accidentally step on anyone, I could hear laughter , hooting and whistling from different angles.
Just when I had thought that I would get lost in the crowd, we finally emerged on the other side of the club at an empty booth and slid in, and I heaved a sigh of relief, already dreading any movement that would make us have to move through the crowd again.
One of the waitresses came over to our booth and grinned at us, her breasts nearly spilling from her shirt when she rested her hands on the table.
I looked away, shy and wondering why she was so confident. I was not even as scantily dressed and I felt like I was naked everytime someone looked at me.
“So what will y’all sexy women be having tonight?”
Everyone mentioned their drink of choice and when it was my turn, I shrugged, having no idea what kind of drink to take especially because the last time I had been here with Nicole, I had ended up claiming to be the designated driver and stuck to water.
“Give her a Bloody Mary.” Sophia chipped in and my eyes widened in surprise.
“What’s that?” I asked and the four of them, including the waitress gave me conspiratorial grins just as the waitress walked away.
“I suddenly feel the need to pee” Grace said and I raised my hand.
“I’ll go with you.” I wanted a bit of peace and quiet before returning to the chaos of the party and Grace nodded, rising to her feet and leading the way to the restroom.
I had just entered the restroom and stood in front of the mirror with my eyes staring at my reflection when someone called my name.
“Oh my God, Aria, is that you?” The voice sounded so familiar and when her reflection appeared in the mirror, I froze in surprise as I stared at her reflection.
It was Nicole my best friend. Of course she would be here. Nicole had always the most outgoing one of the two of us so it would have been a surprise if she did not know about this club especially because it was in our town.
“Hi” I said shyly and she pulled me in for a tight hug, her eyes tearing up.
“Oh my God, can you believe it? It’s been such a long time since I saw you. What are you doing here? Are you back in town finally?”
I went blank before I remembered that I had told her and everyone else that had texted me that I was going out of town to stay with a distant relative. Knowing Nicole would have not believed me if I did not give an answer that was more believable, I had cited my father’s drinking problem as an issue and she had understood, promising to keep that part a secret.
“Oh, no, I came to visit him and came out with some friends. They’re from out of town and they wanted the road trip experience so they came with me.”
“Oh” Her face fell and I squeezed her hand.
“I didn’t want to say anything because I wasn’t planning on staying long. I promise that next time, I’ll let you know.”
Grace came out of one of the toilets and came up to me.
“Ready?”
I nodded.
“Nicole, this is Grace one of my friends from out of town. Grace, this is my best friend, Nicole.”
Nicole’s face brightened up at that and I nodded for Grace to go ahead first, so delighted to see my best friend after what felt like a long time.
But my smile faded after her next words.
“Daniel thinks you’re lying though. He’s been bugging me with questions about who your aunt could be and if you were alright. I told him to stop disturbing me and ask you.”
My face paled in confusion and worry.
Daniel had also been texting me and asking questions that were quite intrusive.
Did he perhaps know that werewolves existed and suspected that I had been taken?
I quickly shook my head because that sounded absurd.
Of course not, right?
“I don’t know why he is behaving like that but please don’t tell him you saw me, okay?” I pleaded with her and when she nodded and pulled me in for a hug, I realized how much I had missed her. Missed waking up every morning and thinking about mundane things.
I missed visiting Nicole and listening to her for hours talk about her college boyfriend and worrying about what our futures were going to look like.
But as I held Nicole’s hand and we walked out of the bathroom together and I saw my friends waving at me from their table, I knew that I did not hate my present and would not take back the experience of meeting the werewolves.
