We’re in the clearing in the forest and Stiles and Scott are trying to replace a flat for when we finish school and I’m lying on the back of the jeep looking at the moon.

Stiles: I found two apartments in the Mission district but they’re not cheap, two more in the Aille eyes burys area but they’re expensive too.

Scott: Why not Berkeley? There’s a lot of students there.

Stiles: Yeah we could try the streets of Neuville but I don’t think the Jeep will like the streets of San Francisco

Me: Are you gonna bring the Jeep with you?

Stiles: You know the plan, we’re not leaving anyone behind, you and Lydia won’t have a problem going to Stanford and Kira and Allison are aiming for the University of San Francisco.

Scott: We could also wait until we get into university before we replace a place!

Stiles: I had a vision okay, and it’s a great vision, don’t ruin it McCall!

Me: I love this vision!

He smiles softly at me and I smile back. The three of us look at the map, which has several red lines in every corner we looked at.

Stiles: Maybe Disbay? I haven’t looked there yet.

Scott looks at the full moon without saying anything.

Me: Can you feel the moon?

Scott: No, I’m just thinking.

Stiles: About what?

Scott: Our last year

I get up to face him

Me: You don’t have to worry bro, everything’s going to be fine until the end of the year and we’re all going to have that awesome photo shoot with our diplomas in our hands!

Scott: No, I was thinking about something Deaton once said to me. Do you know what regression to the mean is?

Me: No, I don’t think so.

Stiles: Me neither

Scott: It’s a way of saying that life can’t be all great or all bad, things always return to the mean… And if you think back over the last month… It’s been pretty good, but it hasn’t been perfect.

Stiles: Yeah, but… Apart from the Kate thing… Nobody tried to kill us either.

Scott: It’s true, we were balanced for a while… Which means the scales are gonna tip one way or the other… So everything’s gonna be fine.

We don’t talk any more and I dare to say the rest

Me: Or very badly…

No one speaks any more and we watch the lightning tear the sky apart then I turn towards the trees

Me: Do you think that’s enough time?

Liam: YES!!!

Stiles turns to Liam who is chained to a tree further behind us.

Stiles: We’re trying to have an adult conversation Liam!

Liam: You’re two years older than me I’ll have you know and I’m fine! Untie me now!

I turn to Scott

Me: Do you trust him?

Scott: Of course I do!

I tilt my head to the side and stare at him.

Me: If he escapes, you run!

He laughs and we go to him

Scott: It’s not that we don’t trust you, Liam.

Stiles: No, I don’t trust you!

I hit him on the chest

Me: Please, not like last time, I beg you!

He smiles at me and sets my skull on fire. Scott looks at us and motions for us to be quiet.

Scott: After the last full moon…

Liam: It was just a little slip!

Stiles: A little slip? More than a dozen calls to the sheriff’s department reporting a half-man half-wolf running around naked is a small slip?

Me: Why were you naked anyway?!

Liam: It was really hot that night! Untie me!

Scott: Are you sure you’re gonna be okay?

Liam: Yes!

Scott was going to untie him but I stopped him and stood in front of him to stare into his eyes. You can never be too careful

Me: Are you really in total control of the situation?

Liam: Yes!

Me: Say it

He gasps

Liam: I’m in complete control of the situation Hannah, untie me now!

I smile and motion to Scott to undo the chains and he does. The chains slip and fall to the floor and Liam rubs his hands together. Scott and Stiles walk off to the car and I look at Liam. His hands have the marks of his claws and I can’t help but smile. He’s a quick learner.

Me: Are you coming?

He nods and we head off to join the boys.
