Molly nodded in agreement, realizing the Chad everyone else saw was not the Chad she knew. "Looks like Leo's got a bit of a wild side too." Chad replied, "Don't think all men are womanizers."

At the hotel.

Leo made the bed and insisted Anya lie down to sleep.

"If Chad isn't sleeping, neither am I," Anya suddenly became stubborn.

Leo, with no other choice, took her hand, led her to the bed, and laid down beside her.

Anya bit her lip.

Leo shouted, "Hurry up, do you want me to carry you?"

"Alright, alright," It seemed Chad was determined to have her sleep.

Anya, not understanding why, sulkily went to the other side of the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down, "Chad, you're not under the covers."

"I'm hot, okay?"

"Fine then."

After lying down, Anya's heart raced as she looked at the man beside her, her cheeks flushed pink.

For Leo, it was the first time he had ever shared a bed with a woman. Even though he avoided the covers to maintain a distance, the closeness made it impossible not to react. So, Leo turned over, his back to Anya.

"Chad, I'm not even sleepy, why do you insist I go to bed?"

Leo, even turned away and with his eyes closed, could feel the girl behind him watching him, "Stop asking why. If you don't sleep, I'll take you back."

Anya, frustrated, closed her eyes too. She decided it was best to just listen to Chad.

Ten minutes later, the breathing beside her became steady. Leo opened his eyes and saw the girl finally asleep beside him.

Having a girlfriend by his side was truly distracting; he couldn't focus on his studies.

Especially when Anya, pulling up a chair, sat right beside him, propping her face up to keep him company.

Leo got up, moved to the end of the bed, put on headphones, and went back to studying.

Andre brought home a watermelon that his wife had been craving. As she ate, Henry tried to snatch bites, and Mia fed Andre a piece, which Henry then tried to grab from his mouth. After finishing the watermelon, Mia cleaned it up and jokingly put the empty rind on their son's bald head.

Henry, holding the empty watermelon rind, looked sulky but then naively began chewing on the rind.

The bell on Henry's wrist jingled, its clear sound echoing through the summer, chasing away the irritable heat.

As the evening cooled down, Anya woke up, and Leo planned to take her out for dinner. However, Anya insisted on heating up the leftovers from lunch at the hotel before heading out for a walk.

"Going out means Chad has to spend money, and Chad doesn't like spending my money."

Leo couldn't argue with Anya. She took her boxed meal downstairs to ask the hotel staff to warm it up.

Around 7 p.m., they finally left the hotel, after Leo had asked the housekeeping staff to clean up their room.

Anya dragged Leo to a department store, and once inside, she bought him many necessities, "Chad, even though the hotel changes your towels every day, I still think it's unhygienic. Since we're staying long-term, we might as well buy new ones." Anya picked up a face towel and handed it to Leo, "For your face."

"These are for women."

Anya replied, "They're for people, not specific to any gender."

She then grabbed another towel.

Leo protested, "You've got a towel, why buy a face towel as well?"

Anya explained, "Face towels are for the face, towels are for drying hair."

Leo, unimpressed, said, "You can dry your hair with a bath towel too."

Anya stood before the bath towels, her hand on her chin, pondering over the various colors of men's bath towels, unsure of which to choose. "Bath towels are for drying your body."

Eventually, she handed Leo a dark blue bath towel.

"Is the next step buying a foot mat?" Leo gave up resisting and let Anya make her purchases.

Anya replied, "A water-absorbent mat would do."

Among the items Anya bought, Leo found only the bath towel useful!

"The hotel's shampoo isn't good, let's buy a new one."

Anya went to the shelves to choose.

Leo said, "Just grab any and let's go."

Anya asked, "Chad, do you have dandruff?" "No."

"Is your hair oily?"

"Just pick any."

Anya continued, "Chad, are you losing hair?"

"Not losing!" Leo was firm on this point. Even if he was losing hair, it was only for him to know.

Anya nodded and continued her selection.

At that moment, Leo greatly admired his uncle for having the patience to accompany Molly shopping.

An hour later, they left the store.

Leo, determined not to let Anya shop anymore, took her for a drive to see the city lights at night, which was better than going to a mall.

Seeing that her family no longer needed her, Molly was tricked and lured back to the Byrne family by Chad.

And so, Officer Chad's "happy" life began again.

Regarding the issue of children, Coleen had a private conversation with her daughter at the company, "When are you and Chad planning to have kids?"

Molly suddenly remembered how Chad had tricked her into marrying him, saying that after marriage, they would be busy, and having a child would make them even busier. Then, they wouldn't have to take over the company...

So she asked, "Mom, do you mean that if I get pregnant, I won't have to work?"

Coleen replied, "You wish."

"What if I have a child and then go on maternity leave? Wouldn't I have to work then?" Molly asked again.

Coleen nodded, "Of course."

Jade then asked, "Can I take a year-long maternity leave?"

Coleen retorted, "Why don't you just say you want to take a lifetime off?"

Jade was scolded by her mother again.

"Then I won't have kids, so you won't become a grandmother so soon."

Coleen replied, "... Mia will be having her second child by then; let's see if you get jealous."

Molly firmly shook her head, "Impossible. One Henry is enough to scare her and me, Andre, from having a second child."

Coleen, tired of meddling, found that the elder Byrnes were envious of the Cedillo family's Henry and wanted a child of their own.

The next day, Molly sneakily returned to her family home, took advantage of her father's nap, and secretly took her little nephew from the Cedillo family back to the Byrne family.

In just one afternoon, Hansen was nearly driven to his wit's end at home by his rebellious daughter. Grandma Aubree and Grandpa Elmer, too, were given a run for their money during that time by the Cedillo family's little darling, avoiding any mention of children afterwards. When Molly was happy during the day, Officer Chad was also happy at night. Their happiness didn't conflict.

...

The midsummer cicadas sang loudly, the sun scorched the earth, and the temperature soared. Walking on the street, one could even see the heat waves rippling off the ground.

Just a few steps made one drenched in sweat.

Only under the dense shade of green trees could one replace a moment of tranquility.

The hotter it was, the faster Anya ran, trying to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Mia, on the other hand, walked slower, using her book as a fan, but the air it moved felt just as hot. Leo sat in his car, sifting through his email for interview invitations.

In the office of Cedillo Inc., Andre looked at his nephew's job application interface on a job search app.
