Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 773
Mia stepped outside and called out, "Anya, come here, sweetie."
Anya, holding the child, was about to run off when Hansen intercepted her, "Anya, go have some fun. Henry stays with Grandpa." When he wasn't crying, the adorable Henry was everyone's favorite to hold. Eventually, Henry ended up back in his grandfather's arms, contentedly sucking on his hand and not caring who held him.
Unable to compete with the elders, Anya went outside and spotted Molly. Surprised, she exclaimed, "Oh, Aunt Molly, you're back too!"
Molly asked, "Where were you just now?"
Anya pulled up a chair and sat down in front of them, "Chad went to work, so I went apartment hunting for us."
"Didn't Leo say he'd drop you off at home before work? Did he agree to let you stay here?" Mia inquired.
Anya poured herself a glass of water, "Um, no, Auntie."
Everything had been going according to plan. Leo had taken a few days off to accompany Anya to various romantic spots and even went hiking with her.
At the top of the mountain, Anya prayed at a quaint chapel for their relationship. She also wished for Chad's success in his postgraduate exams.
Leo joked, "If I were a deity, I'd refuse both your requests."
Anya, young and somewhat superstitious, playfully scolded Chad in the yard, "This is a sacred place, you shouldn't speak ill of it. The gods might blame you." Leo gestured around them, "Which deity should be blamed? It's like asking the god of water for fire or praying for rain from the god of fire."
Anya scratched her head, "Chad, how did you know I got it mixed up?"
"Your grandfather is quite superstitious. I've been following him around, praying to every statue since I was a kid. How could I not recognize them?" Anya hurried to make amends.
For this, she bought two red ribbons, writing blessings on them and had tall Chad tie them to a tree. "Chad, tie it tight."
Regarding the ribbon about Anya and Leo's fate, Leo silently tied several knots and hung it on a thick branch, making sure it was secure.
Anya had several more wishes, but Leo, claiming she was being greedy, pulled her away.
"Leo took you on a date just to hike?" Molly asked.
Anya shook her head, "Not just that, we also went to an amusement park."
"A water park?" Jade immediately asked, hinting at the places where you'd wear swimsuits.
Mia interjected, "Unlikely, the men of the Cedillo family are straighter than steel beams. If Leo went to a water park, he probably couldn't stand other men seeing Anya in a swimsuit."
Anya pouted, looking downcast, "Chad doesn't let me wear a swimsuit outside, nor does he let me go on thrilling rides. I ended up just watching cartoons, and he wouldn't even let me visit the haunted house."
Molly propped her head up, "Don't tell me Leo's afraid and won't let you touch anything?"
Anya wasn't sure.
"What you just told me about not wanting to come home tonight, wanting to stay out with Leo, what's that about?" Mia speculated, "It can't be that after he took you hiking and you felt the gods had blessed you, you went to the amusement park, fell hopelessly in love with him, and now you want to move in together?"
Anya immediately shook her head, "No, Auntie, it's about Chad's roommate, just unbearable." Anya's upbringing made it hard for her to speak ill of anyone.
"The rent for a whole apartment in the city is too expensive, so Chad decided to replace a shared apartment near his company. Eventually, he found one, but it turned out to be shared with a woman. The landlord said that the woman's lease was almost up and she'd be moving out soon, promising the next lease to a male tenant. Chad didn't think much of it and agreed..."
Leo, after inspecting the apartment's surroundings and lighting, and having looked at many apartments, was somewhat satisfied with this one, except for the current female tenant. He thought he'd move in after she left.
The landlord, eager to seal the deal, urged him to sign the lease and pay a month's rent as a deposit, fearing Leo might back out.
Wary of any changes, Leo didn't sign the lease or pay the deposit but left a deposit of fifty dollars and left.
When the female tenant went downstairs to throw out the trash, she greeted Leo and asked, "Are you living alone, brother?" Leo didn't respond.
In the elevator, with just the three of them - the female landlord, the tenant, and Leo - she had no one else to ask but Leo.
Seeing Leo ignore her, she reached out, brushing against Leo's sleeve and cooed, "Brother?"
Leo turned around, annoyed, "Do I know you?"
The woman sheepishly withdrew her hand, "This place is pretty nice, and the landlord is very kind."
Leo nodded and left the elevator. His car was parked downstairs, and he immediately called Anya to explain the situation, "I've seen the apartment, but the roommate hasn't moved out yet. I'll wait for her to leave before I move in." Anya had been resting at home due to sore legs from the previous day's hike, so she hadn't accompanied Leo to see the apartment.
When her legs felt better, and she went with Leo to see the apartment, they found the female tenant still hadn't packed her things. Leo waited a few days and then asked the landlord, "When is she moving out? If she doesn't leave, I can't move in."
The landlord tried to persuade him, "You're all young people; living together might be nice, sharing some company and conversation. What's the hurry?"
Leo asked, "So she's not moving out?"
Hearing Leo's tone as if he was considering breaking the agreement, the landlord quickly said, "I'll go hurry her."
Anya explained to Mia and Molly, "Seeing that girl, I didn't want Chad to live there, but I was worried Chad would think I was being controlling and unreasonable. After Chad took me to the amusement park again, I didn't bring it up.
Two days later, when our hotel stay was up, Chad and I were ready to clean the apartment, but she was still living there, showing no signs of moving out.
Moreover, she was wearing those lace tank tops and short shorts." Anya gestured on her body, "Auntie, you've seen what that girl wore. It's, you know, revealing in the front, with lace here, and the shorts come up to here." Anya pointed to her chest and her thighs, struggling to describe it but speaking excitedly.
Molly bluntly said, "So, lingerie."
Anya said angrily, "She even went to Chad's room, asking if he needed any help. The bathroom is shared, and when I went to rinse the mop, I saw it, you know, that thing." Her face turned as red as the mop she abandoned, and she ran back to drag Leo into the bathroom. Upon seeing the object, Leo didn't say a word. He immediately covered Anya's eyes, pulled her into his arms, glanced around the rest of the bathroom, and then, holding little Anya close, he left.
Back in the bedroom, Leo didn't bother tidying up. He contacted the landlord, "If that person doesn't move out within two days, I'm terminating my lease."
Whatever was said on the other end, Leo didn't wait to hear it all, hanging up the phone in frustration.
