Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 781
Skating has a lot of unpredictable factors, and Anya kept her head down, watching her feet like a newbie cyclist fixated on the wheels.
Leo stood there again, and before he knew it, Anya had crashed right into him, full force.
"Lift your head, watch me skate. That's how you'll learn," he said gently.
Childhood memories were hazy, but Anya clearly remembered the time she had accidentally pushed Chad into the pool. She feared a repeat performance. "Chad, I can't. I'm scared I'll knock you over, and if I fall, you'll get hurt too." With a sigh, Leo wrapped his arms around Anya's waist and braced his legs against the railing. "Look at me skate. For every hundred meters, I'll give you a kiss."
Anya's cheeks turned crimson. "......"
Around four in the afternoon, Mia tore a piece of paper and folded it into a makeshift fan to cool herself and her son. Henry saw the fan and reached out, trying to grab it. "You cheeky boy, keep those little hands to yourself." Initially, Mia could chat with everyone like a proper adult. But when she saw her husband catch a fish, she couldn't contain her excitement. "Honey, you caught a big fish!"
Henry's eyes widened in awe, watching his dad lift the fish with the rod, idolizing him and longing for a hug. "Buzz dad, up!"
The onlookers, seeing the big fish Andre had caught, immediately chimed in with flattery: "Looks like Andre's tech development talk is really something; even the heavens are giving signs."
Andre, used to the ways of the world, remained calm, his emotions under tight control. But seeing his wife and son's excitement, he couldn't help but feel a bit proud.
He placed the fish into a bucket, and both mother and son squatted beside it in perfect sync, one large hand and one small paw touching the edge of the bucket, peering at the big fish. "Honey, you're amazing! Your son and I love you so much-"
His wife's warm, passionate love broke through Andre's composed facade, a smile cracking his face. He carried the bucket to a cooler spot. "You two have fun."
Mia pulled up a chair and sat down with Henry. "Look, son, the fish is blowing bubbles. Isn't your dad amazing?"
Henry's drool almost dripped into the bucket, prompting Mia to quickly wipe his mouth. "Aren't you embarrassed?"
Others chatted with Andre. "Mrs. Cedillo really admires Andre; her words are full of love for him."
Andre, baiting the hook again and casting it back into the lake, shared his small family joys. "Mother and son cling to me. When I come home from work, my son covers my face with kisses. If I refuse, he throws a fit." Hearing calls from the front of the boat, the three women enjoying the cool inside the cabin stepped out to see the big fish in the bucket and take pictures for Facebook.
Posting about Andre's big catch on Facebook would indirectly show everyone that they had dined with Andre, boosting their social status.
Only the mother-son duo were seriously planning, debating whether to cook the fish braised or steamed for dinner.
"Honey, catch another one, please. This one alone won't be enough," Mia cooed.
Andre turned back, his eyes meeting those of his wife and child, filled with indulgence and smiles. "Hungry?"
"Not now, but who knows later."
Fishing is all about patience, and for them, non-professionals looking to relax, even if they caught nothing, there was always ready-to-cook fish in the cabin. "Andre is thirty this year, isn't he?"
Andre smiled. "Age is a tough reality. I became a father at twenty-nine, and I'm hitting thirty this year."
"Our generation marries late; back in my day, I was a father at twenty-three, having faced many years..."
Mia, after watching the fish for a while, realized it was time. She handed her son over to her husband. "Hold him, I'll go make some formula."
Andre, holding his son, was suddenly asked, "What's Bruce doing at home? Busy lately?"
"My big brother and my dad are the busiest at home, always competing to hold my son."
Soon, Mia came out, took the yawning son into her arms, and went into the cooler cabin to feed him the formula and lull him to sleep.
At the skating rink, Leo took the opportunity, teaching Anya while holding her several times.
Jade and her husband's shopping trip felt like a date, her arm linked with Chad's as they entered a store, browsing before coming out. Because Molly was a regular, many sales associates recognized the two. Initially, the salespeople thought they were a couple but later learned they were siblings.
Even later, after the salespeople knew they were siblings, they were suddenly informed that the two had become husband and wife.
"Chad, do these high heels look good?" Molly asked, picking them up.
Chad: "Don't we have a similar pair at home?"
"Do we? I don't remember."
Chad: "We do. I'll replace them for you when we get back."
Molly put down the shoes and continued to leisurely browse the cool mall, arm in arm with Chad.
"Has anyone recommended a financial platform called 'MoneyGrow' to you and mom for investment?"
Molly tried to recall. "I think one of the shareholders mentioned it to mom, even wanted our family to invest. What's up, brother?"
Chad: "Someone reported them for suspected fraud. You and mom should avoid dealing with these unclear companies."
"No, we haven't. Mom and I know the specifics of your field. When that shareholder first discussed the investment with mom, she outright refused without even looking at it, saying our company doesn't deal with those modules. It's too risky, like walking off a cliff." Suddenly, "Oh right, Chad, I remember now! That shareholder even brought MoneyGrow's general manager to meet mom. After she refused, they still tried to convince her to invest ten million, promising a return in two quarters.
Mom then said, 'It's not about the money. My son is the economic investigation team leader, Chad. How about letting him check it out for safety before investing?'
Then that shareholder uncle said, 'Letting Chad check is also good, for peace of mind.' Not long after, the shareholder and the general manager had to leave suddenly.
Mom looked at their retreating figures with disdain. I was there eating at mom's, only now realizing what she meant."
"The sky won't drop pies. Mom has seen all sorts of people, weathered many storms. She probably guessed those sweet-talk tactics right away. That shareholder probably didn't know, so he dared to let me check. You should learn more from mom, to not be deceived." The couple continued their shopping spree, wandering into the next store.
By evening, Molly headed straight back to the Byrne residence, where they once again brought up that topic from last time over dinner.
Mia was dining on the boat, fully immersing herself in the experience. Fish was a must for the evening meal, especially since the largest catch of the day was reeled in by Andre. Given his impressive feat, everyone playfully suggested that Mia should decide how they would enjoy the fish.
