Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 784
Mia chuckled softly as she gently patted her son's bottom. "He's out like a light. Let's scoop him up and head home. Remember, you promised him an outing this afternoon. Don't think you can get away with him being too young to remember. A promise is a promise." Andre smirked, knowing full well the subtle hints behind those words. "Alright, I'll take my son and his mom out for a fun day."
Around noon, Anya was about to exit the freeway when her phone buzzed with a call from Molly. Molly's voice sounded groggy and weak. "Hey, Anya, have you left yet?"
Anya responded, "Auntie, I'm almost off the freeway. Did you just wake up?"
Molly rubbed her eyes, rolling over in bed to take in the dimly lit room. She threw off the covers, half-naked, and glanced at the clock on her nightstand. "It's already noon! I meant to see you off, but I overslept. Sorry, Anya."
"It's no big deal, Auntie. Get up and have some lunch. We'll see each other again after the summer break."
Molly sat up in bed, still closing her eyes. "Okay, let me know when you get home."
After hanging up, Molly, clutching the blanket to cover herself, lightly smacked the man beside her. "You promised to wake me up at six, and now it's noon!"
Officer Chad replied, "I did try to wake you. You just didn't budge."
"That's impossible. I don't remember any of it."
Knowing his wife could be stubborn, Chad pulled out his phone and showed her a video. "I started trying to wake you at 5:40 AM and kept at it until 6:30 AM. I recorded three videos. See for yourself."
The video began with Chad cradling her, softly saying, "Molly, time to get up."
"Mm-hmm."
"Come on, wake up. Weren't you supposed to see Anya off?"
Annoyed, Molly covered herself with the blanket, but Chad soon lifted her out again, continuing to gently coax her.
In the end, she didn't stir, not even opening her eyes.
"Molly, call me 'husband"."
"Mm-hmm."
"Say 'husband', and I'll let you sleep."
In a dreamy voice, Molly softly called out, "Husband-"
After that, she turned over and went back to sleep.
Chad, the human alarm clock, smiled in satisfaction. The video ended with him hugging and kissing her before fading to black.
"Chad, you're unbelievable. Before we got married, you'd wake me up with clattering pots and pans. Why so gentle today? And tricking me into calling you 'husband', you jerk."
Chad chuckled lightly. "Before, you were my sister. I could tease you. Now, you're my wife. I can't bear to."
"Pfft, if you couldn't bear to, why was I up until 3 AM because of you?" Molly hit Chad with a pillow, then got out of bed, her legs weak. She changed into new pajamas and slowly headed to the bathroom.
Chad laughed even more. "You stayed up late on your phone until past midnight. And since today's an even day, my demands were within the rules."
Chad drew the curtains, flooding the bedroom with light.
He followed her into the bathroom, standing by her side as they brushed their teeth together.
"Anya's not home, and Leo's staying somewhere else. Mia and I are at Maplewood Estates. I'll be spending more time at the Cedillo family home to keep my lonely dad company. If you come back and don't see me, just stay at the Byrne family home. Don't go looking for me at the Cedillo family's."
Chad washed his face quickly. "Let me know in advance when you're coming back, and I'll head straight there after work."
"Chad, can't you sleep without your wife?" Molly was frustrated, wondering why Chad was always sticking to her.
After drying his face with a towel, Chad looked at his wife, who he could never get enough of. "Nope."
"Shameless."
Chad wrapped his arms around Molly's waist. "Want to see what real shamelessness is?"
Molly was out of options, resorting to her childhood tactics as if Chad was about to scold her, "I'll call our mom. See if you believe me!"
Facing her husband, Molly felt like the universe had sent Chad to be her nemesis.
You scold him, he punishes you.
You get mad at him, he still punishes you.
You try to be cunning, you can't outsmart him.
Doing something behind his back? Before you even act, Officer Chad starts interrogating his wife, "Confess now, and I'll consider it a voluntary surrender with a lighter punishment."
Frustrated, Molly, after brushing her teeth, threw her toothbrush aside and went to change.
Chad, still smiling, rinsed the toothbrush and placed it next to his in the holder. Officer Chad, with his beloved in his arms, felt even the toothbrushes were a perfect match.
As the couple was leaving, they encountered Coleen in the living room.
Coleen remarked, "Hibernation's not over yet? Go back to sleep."
Molly replied, "..."
The summer cicadas' chirping outside suddenly seemed a bit ironic.
"I'll eat first, then go back to hibernation." Molly was also shameless in front of her parents.
Grandma Aubree approached her granddaughter. "Sweetie, your breakfast got tossed, and I didn't make your lunch."
Molly retorted, "Then I'll go out to eat."
Coleen stopped her. "Come back here! Sleeping till this hour, you won't replace anyone to cook for you outside."
The Byrne family's servant was about to go make lunch for the young master and mistress, but Coleen halted her. "Don't bother with the kitchen. Let the two of them cook for themselves."
The servant responded, "Madam, Molly doesn't know how to cook."
"If she doesn't, Chad does. If neither of them can cook, they'll just have to go hungry."
Officer Chad, too, received a reprimand from his mother. He descended a few steps, took Molly's hand, and led her towards the kitchen.
Molly told her mother, "Wait till Chad finishes cooking. If you get tempted by the smell, I won't let you have any."
In the Byrne family, Coleen held the highest status, as the entire family adored the wife Kendrick pampered.
When the wife scolded the children, he stood by silently, saying nothing.
Grandma Aubree and Grandpa Elmer had long stopped meddling in their son and daughter-in-law's affairs, focusing on enjoying their carefree lives.
Once in the kitchen, Chad opened the fridge and asked, "What would you like to eat?"
Molly: "Chad, make your specialty. It'll make mom crave it. Let's get her on our side."
Chad, holding a piece of pork tenderloin and various side dishes, started chopping. "My cooking skills? I learned them from mom."
When they were younger and Coleen was busy, Chad took on the responsibility of looking after his sister. Coleen taught her son how to cook, and on the rare occasions when there was no maid, the brother was the chef. Molly's role was simple: keep company and taste test.
"Chad, do you think if we moved out, we could sleep in without anyone caring?"
Chad paused his chopping, pondered for a few seconds, then suddenly looked at Molly. "Thinking of moving out?"
"No, no, we can't move out!" Molly was capable of weighing the pros and cons herself. She couldn't jump out of the greenhouse and into the fire just because of a moment of criticism.
If they really moved out, she'd be completely done for.
Besides, it wasn't the first time she had argued with her mom.
Their relationship was more warm than not.
"Chad, chop some more meat for me. I need to nourish my body."
