Naked – race from Kledris with hair mostly on their heads and groins. Historically enslaved hairies but were overthrown, at least on Midbar. Now more-or-less restricted to one valley by an apartheid system.

Nanotechnology – the science of manipulating matter at the atomic level. Can be used to make nanites (microscopic robots) which can, among other things, go inside people and give them super-human powers.

Narblo – the counselor at Yoho Temple Academy. A faharni katchey Trulist.

Negative – a common blood type with no characteristic antigens.

Neurotransmitter – a chemical released by nerve cells in order to communicate with others.

Nibey (Semic) - A psychic korbar with powers mostly limited to telepathy and precognition. Tend to have intellectual and logical personalities.

Northside Adolescent School – a school in Laraget.

Nudas – a faharni Trulist nibey police officer in Laraget.

Nuhar – the supposed prophet who founded Nuhara. The scant historical records, all Nuhara sources, give the impression that he was poorly educated, of low intelligence, insane, psychopathic and a pervert. It’s widely claimed that he was also a hipsick.

Nuhar Zorg – a book bearer descended from Nuhar. Famous for mysteriously disappearing on his wedding day along with his new wife. Many Nuharas believe he went through a wormhole or time warp into the future and will return to rid Midbar of non-Nuharas.

Nuhara – A monotheistic religion derived from Yohoism and to some extent, Winemakerism. Only god is Ahmaza. Believe in Yoho’s Avatar but don’t recognize his divinity. Notoriously violent, sexist, anti-gay and intolerant of other religions and even Nuharas they don’t agree with. Believe their founder, the prophet Nuhar, to have been the last psychic and therefore deny the existence of korbarim and have few magi. Mostly followed by Quippas.

Nuharglend – an old, quippa Nuhara nibey mage who lives in Rendamar.Old Faharni – an antiquated version of Faharni which few people can read.

Old Magic – a type of magic forbidden by ancient religions and rarely practices. Notorious for a tendency to backfire and drive its users insane.

Opuntia – genus of cacti, which normally have flattened jointed stems with glochids and often spines. Many species produce edible fruit. Roughly synonymous with prickly pears.

Orblas – a faharni Trulist hipsick who attends Yoho Temple Accadamy.

Orbraag – a prophet who was one of the first human colonists on Midbar.

Orliz – a faharni hipsick mid-level Paxian politician.

Paradox Avoidance Law – a scientific law that prevents time travel from altering events that would cause it. Means that time travelers can’t change events they know about. It’s also the reason why prophecies tend to be cryptic, preventing people from changing the events prophesied.

Pax – the mostly Trulist country that occupies the west side of the Great Basin.

Paxian (adjective) – originating from or pertaining to Pax.

Paxian (noun) – a citizen of Pax.

Pendina – a faharni Trulist hipsickah attending Yoho Temple Academy. Has seven fingers on each hand.

Polydactyl – somebody with more than the normal number of fingers and/or toes. Caused by a dominant gene that’s common in faharnis.

Predestination Line – a normally invisible line that can be seen using Old Magic. A line between two people shows they will have some future relationship. A very strong line likely indicates they will get married or one will kill the other. The number of predestination lines a person has gets fewer as they get older and they die shortly after they run out.

Preldin – an idlan nibeyah who lives in Laraget. Sister of Jabna.

Prophesied Ruination – a huge disaster which is prophesied to occur in the future. It’s widely thought that it will happen very soon and may even be starting.

Psychic – somebody with genetic ability to interact with the world mentally without using the normal senses. All psychics belong to one of the three psychic korbarim.

Quandaric – a sephir where humans are treated rather like cats by XT’s who frequently come and go in space ships.

Quandat – a high-ranking member of the Benai Nibeyim Shepherd division.

Quildana – a teenage hipsickah with mixed faharni and quippa ancestry who lives in Laraget. Considers herself to both a Trulist and a Nuhara.

Quippa – a race with light skin and usually blond hair and blue eyes. Their eyes are narrow and slanted. Mostly live in the north-east of the Great Basin and are mostly Nuharas.

Rabbi – a Trulist preacher and/or theologian who is not a priest.

Ravdas – a small mining and industrial town to the west of the Great Basin (officially in Pax).

Red dwarf – a small red star.

Red Night – time in the light cycle when Aleph is in the sky and sapphires are turned off.

Reldrin – a nibey who lives in Temple View Heights.

Relic – part of the starship which brought humans to Midbar. They’ve been hidden in Holy Sites and it’s thought all humans will be killed if they’re removed or destroyed.

Religionism – discrimination based on religion. A sin according to Trulism and generally illegal in Pax.

Rendamar – a port city by the Sea in northern Pax near the border with Aramator. Divided into Trulist, Winemaker and Nuhara quarters and the location of Rendamar Temple.

Rendamar Temple – a very large temple located in Rendamar. It’s officially the main Winemaker Holy Site but has been illegally taken over by Nuharas.

Rholdaz - Trulist god of sun and rain. Husband of Clarmiria.

Riflin – a faharni hipsickah Paxian politician, minister of education.

Rilletteecket – a hairy anavah Haprihagfen from Kledris who lacks hair.

Rocru – barely inhabitable sephir adjacent to Evuvednin.

Rofari – a religion which claims that psychic powers and magic don’t exist. As this is clearly contrary to observation, very few people follow this.

Rofarma – a nibeyah schoolgirl who goes to Yoho Temple Academy.

Rov – a boy at Yoho Temple Academy who’s paralyzed from the neck down.

Ruashni – somebody who has a legal dispute with Wennifarg. A client of Clathmior.

Rutten – student at Yoho Temple Academy.
