The Alpha Mafia King
Chapter 85- Epilogue

One year after.

Never wanting to lose her again, Alonzo had proposed to Alyona, and they had gotten married a few months later after Mariyanna’a arrest. Their union had birthed a new empire with the Marcovic and Makarov families working together as one.

Speaking of birth, Alyona had gotten pregnant for Alonzo again, and she was due for delivery. She was currently in the care of the pack’s doctor in the pack’s hospital.

The pack itself had grown over time. From a measly five male werewolves to over fourteen members— if you’d include Alyona’s yet unborn pup. Except for Bianco and Vincenzo, everyone else had a mate. Since the pack kept growing, there had been space for an additional rank in it, and thus Bianco had been proclaimed Gamma.

Alyona, over the past months, had significantly transformed. Alonzo had marked her, turned her, and trained her, and she has now become a powerful Luna in the De Sina pack.

Alonzo wore a black fur coat over a pair of denim and sneakers, but he looked rougher than usual, and that was because he had zero time to shower before bringing Alyona down to the hospital. He wasn’t allowed into the operating room. All his muscles tensed as he paced around in front of Piccolo, Bianco, Vincenzo, and Leonardo, seated on an extended bench.

“Jeez, calm down already,” Piccolo said. “She is going to be fine in there.”

Alonzo paused in front of Piccolo, turned to him, and said, “What if she loses the child or delivers him successfully and dies?”

“She is going to deliver the baby successfully, and she will be fine,” Piccolo assured.

“Do you think the child is going to be a boy?” Leonardo said out of the blue to Alonzo, whose eyes darted immediately at him.

“Perhaps, but why do you ask?” Alonzo replied, feeling a bit tentative on the subject. He had not discussed the gender specifics of his child with anyone in the pack before except Alyona, and they both knew they were okay with any gender.

“Uh, because you used the pronoun him,” Leonardo pointed out to Alonzo.

“Yeah, I heard it too,” Bianco backed up.

Alonzo shrugged. “Boy, girl, I don’t really give a f**k! I just want my wife and child to be safe and sound at the end of the day.”

Vincenzo, who had taken so much pleasure in hitting the back of his head against the wall for no apparent cause, eventually stopped and said, “If anything the last few months has taught me is that Alyona is a fighter, a total kickass, so what’s one operation she won’t survive.”

“Also, worth mentioning is that she is in the hands of the best pack doctor,” Piccolo chipped in, and Vincenzo nodded in agreement.

Alonzo exhaled uncomfortably and continued pacing, ignoring everyone’s attempt to get him to settle down. Being in a hospital with Alyona in a room and him in the passageway made him recall an unwanted memory. He rechecked his watch to see how long it had been since Alyona entered the operating theater. Alonzo had been gloomy learning that Alyona had to pass through an operation to give birth. His heart skipped as he realized that twenty-five minutes had eluded him during the waiting period.

Finally, after another twenty-something more minutes of pacing almost nonstop, Alonzo saw a female doctor approaching them with a smile. A face mask hung loosely on her neck. She had beads of sweat on her forehead. The lady stopped by a trash bin, tore out her hand gloves, and tossed them inside.

“Congratulations, Alpha Alonzo, it’s a baby boy,” Cindy announced, and Alonzo yelped joyously, muttering a prayer. His friends got up to congratulate him in the usual style men do by hugging and slapping each other on the back.

“Yes! Thank the moon goddess!” Alonzo blew a k**s skyward. “Can I go in to see her and the baby?”

“Yes, of course,” Cindy replied, proceeding to meet her mate, Piccolo. She was the pack’s doctor and also the Beta female.

“Finally!” Alonzo said, already moving forward, and everyone joined him.

“Uh huh, no, just the father, for now, should go in!” Cindy said, causing the other men to halt and spin back.

“Right, obviously,” Piccolo said, throwing his hand up and chuckling. “What was I thinking?”

“Oh, honey, don’t worry; you will still see the child later,” Cindy said, smiling and touching Piccolo’s nose teasingly.

“Get a room, please,” Leonardo said, groaning as he walked past them, and they giggled.

“We just might consider the suggestion,” Cindy said.

“Right, eh,” Piccolo said. “And we could, you know, become the next parents in the pack.”

“Uh, yeah, I know, right!” Cindy applauded cheerfully.

Bianco eyed the mates in awe. Their relationship was totally different from that of Alonzo and Alyona. They were showier and fun to watch, but there was no doubt that Alonzo and Alyona loved themselves too. He took out a pack of cigarettes, popped one, and placed it between his pursed lips. As soon as Bianco took the lighter to spark it up, Cindy stole the cigarette from his lips and took a few drags, causing him to stare at her surprisingly. He took out another one and repeated the process.

Leonardo grimaced at the irresponsibility of the adults who had no regard for the no-smoking sign beside them.

“I can hardly believe she’s a Doc,” Leonardo whispered to Vincenzo.

“Me neither,” Vincenzo whispered back.

“What’s the point of whispering when I can still hear you?” Cindy asked.

Leonardo’s mate, Sonia, came striding purposefully towards the group. She paused at the sight of Cindy smoking, and she shook her head as if that could clear the picture. “Doc, you are needed in ward ten right away.”

“See, I’m a doctor!” Cindy said, handing the cigarette to Piccolo. “Smoke that for me, would you? Duty calls.”

“My pleasure,” Piccolo said, watching Cindy swaying h**s as she hurried off to ward ten.

“Leo, get your a*s here for a minute,” Sonia said, and he got up.

They move away from the rest of the pack to a more secluded corner. Before Leonardo could ask why he had been summoned, Sonia kissed him passionately.

“Oh, wow,” Leonardo said, blinking and staring surprisingly at his mate. “What was that for?”

“To ease my stress,” Sonia said. “Cindy is a great doctor, but I just might die under her tutelage.”

“Aw, sorry. If it’s any consolation, I feel the same way too. Piccolo’s totally a great beta and fighter, but sometimes I think that he’s secretly after my life rather than training me.”

“Hmm, they are the true definition of a power couple, one a skilled warrior and the other a healer.”

“Uh-huh, so why are we here, or did you just want to k**s me that badly?”

Sonia pulled her phone from her nurse uniform. “So I took a quick pic of the baby, and I wanted to show you.”

“I can’t believe you did that,” Leonardo said, looking at the picture. “Oh, wow, he’s, um, handsome. Technically, we are brothers because I’m Alonzo’s godson.”

Alonzo entered the room and momentarily froze at seeing Alyona breastfeeding their newborn baby. She lifted her head with the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.

“He’s so handsome,” Alyona said, and Alonzo stretched to peek as if he was denied access from going any closer to the child. “Want to carry him?”

Alonzo took a step further, falling beside Alyona on the bed, hugging her. She handed him the child who Alonzo received with so much joy. “I can’t believe it; my baby is so gorgeous.”

“Wrong pronoun,” Alyona said.

“What?”

“You said “my!”

“Oh, I mean our!” Alonzo said, realizing his error.

“Enough with the pronouns; let’s replace a name for the baby,” Alyona said.

“Right enough with the pronouns on to the nouns!”

Alyona snickered at Alonzo’s comment. She had always found him funny whenever he tried to sound sarcastic.

After many names from both of them, they finally agreed on two names for the baby. Alonzo decided to call him the Italian name Riccardo. Alyona named him after her father, Ivan.

“Ivan, seriously?” Alonzo said, and Alyona nodded positively.

“Okay,” Alonzo replied. “How are you feeling?”

“I suppose I’m better; my body is still healing,” Alyona revealed. Earlier, Cindy had given her some herbs to slow down her healing so the operation could be carried out successfully without her healing up immediately after every incision.

That night Riccardo Ivan Marcovic was christened. The De Sina pack members gathered at the home of their Alpha and Luna for a massive celebration as if the pup had a clue about what was happening.

Piccolo was laughing so hard, and he slammed his palm on the table, causing the clusters of dining items to rattle. A knife dropped and was heading straight for Riccardo, sleeping soundly in his stroller next to Piccolo’s chair.

Alyona teleported would best describe how Alyona went from the door to the dining and caught the falling knife. She slammed the blade on the table and scowled at Piccolo.

“I’m sorry,” Piccolo said to Alyona, and she eased off, shifting the baby’s stroller away from the clumsy Piccolo.

Alonzo closed his mouth, which had hung from shock when the knife had dropped.

“The baby would have just healed, right?” Cindy asked, and everyone paused momentarily. Realizing her comment was grossly disapproved, she explained that she was kidding. Although, she wasn’t joking for a fact. She had wanted to know if the baby werewolf would have been able to heal or if he would have died.

After many wines, when the night was spent, the latest parents bade their fellow werewolves goodnight. A mechanical whirring sound caused them to spin around.

“Don Alonzo and Alyona, congratulations on your newborn baby,” the AI housekeeper said.

“That’s the fifth congratulations today, Ava,” Alyona said.

“Really?” Ava looked thoughtful and then laughed. “I didn’t realize that you were counting. I am just so excited about the child.”

“Hmm, surprising,” Alyona whispered to Alonzo.

Yes, indeed, everything about Ava was surprising. She looked human because she was a humanoid. She had a great way of executing her feelings, although they were not real. She was a quick learner who, months after she arrived in her body, had already perfected cooking Alonzo’s best meals, thanks to Lady Tanya.

Speaking of Lady Tanya, she had just taken little Riccardo to his parent’s room and was back downstairs. “That child is a sleeping handsome.”

Alonzo and Alyona laughed, and Alonzo said, “Thank you, Lady Tanya; you should get some sleep yourself.”

“Yeah, I am going to do so; goodnight,” Lady Tanya replied.

“Goodnight, Lady Tanya,” Alyona responded.

Alonzo watched her disappear, and he turned to Alyona. “Right, I guess it’s just us then.”

“I suppose,” Alyona said, shrugging. “It’s always going to be me and you in the end.”

“Haha, and you can call that end game, right?” Alonzo said, and Alyona erupted with laughter.

“Please, can you stop trying to make a joke? You sound ridiculous!”

“But I made you laugh,” Alonzo defended. “I might quit the mob and start comedy.”

“Yeah, and I might as well become a stripper, don’t you think?”

“What?”

“Ah, my point exactly; it sounds absurd. You sound absurd.”

They both heard Riccardo start crying and bolted to the room, almost competing for who would get there first. Alyona gently picked up the crying baby and rocked him in her hands.

“Hush, little baby, don’t you cry. Everything is going to be alright,” Alyona sang the famous mockingbird song, and the baby stopped crying.

“Hmm, you’ve got mothering skills,” Alonzo complimented.

The night ended with little Riccardo asleep peacefully in his cot and Alyona snuggled up in Alonzo’s hands. By the following day, they would start living a completely different life from the one they’ve lived with the inclusion of the new infant. Alonzo was thinking of this new life about how he had to be extra careful and offer better protection for his family. He knew he could keep them safe because he was, after all, the Alpha Mafia King, and Alyona was the Luna Mafia Queen. He laughed at the thought.
