The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 113 Book 2 Chapter 45

Zillon stood silently by the rusty iron bars, eyes fixated on Xavier who sat in the very corner of his cell. He looked so pitiful, but Zillon didn’t have the time to pity him right now. “Have they been feeding you?”

Xavier looked towards the other side of his cell where all the food that have been given to him in the past days laid smelly and untouched. “I suppose they have, but I will never eat anything offered to me by my enemies…I’d rather starve.”

His voice unlike the last time Zillon had spoken to him was dry and croaky and Zillon’s heart pained him at the sound of it. “Have you at least been drinking water?”

“Is this a health check-up or a f*cking interrogation? Get to the point then leave…I don’t intend to look up in your despicable face for much longer.”

“Why are there still attacks on my pack members? You’re imprisoned, why won’t they stop?”

“I guess they won’t stop until I die…” He smiled up at Zillon, cocking his head against the dirty walls. “I see you’ve managed to reclaim your mate…what’s that? Her mark on your neck?”

He chuckled. “You must now think that you’re going to win…that you’ve gotten your strength back, but you’re wrong. Now that she’s here…your main aim will be to protect her…she will always and forever be your weakness. She’ll be what gets you and your entire pack members killed.”

“So do you think I’m afraid to kill you? Once you’re dead, I’m sure the attacks will stop… especially if your b***d is scattered along the pack borders.”

“And will that ever happen? I see that the food sent down here to me is better than what the other few prisoners get…you won’t kill me, Zillon…you miss your little brother.” He cleared his dry throat, eyes stern as he licked his lips. “But that little boy that use to follow you around exists no more. I’ve grown up now, I no longer aspire to be like you. Don’t you see? I’m now aspiring to steal everything away from you. I started with your mate and though you’ve won her back, it won’t be for long and now I’m stealing the lives of all your pack members.”

“Xavier!”

“What? Is that cruel…? Wasn’t it cruel when I had to stand by the sidelines? Ignore the descriminations and the hate I received? Wasn’t it cruel to have wanted to be chosen…? At least once by you, by mother, by father…by anyone…wasn’t it cruel? I had done so many things for attention, but you stole it all…that fight for the alpha title, did you think it was because I wanted to be alpha? That wasn’t it…I just wanted to be seen and instead of giving me the attention I sought…you brought me down.”

“That’s a lie Xavier and you know it! I’ve always been on your side.”

“That’s funny! You weren’t on my side after the battle…you weren’t on my side when I was crying my f*cking eyes out? No! Where were you? Oh…you were with mother and father, you were celebrating the fact that you still had your title.”

“Xavier…”

“So don’t tell me that this retribution shouldn’t be dawned on you…don’t tell me to stop this…I won’t…so you better kill me.”

“I’m not going to f*cking kill you Xavier! You’re going to stop, you’re going to f*cking stop!”

“I’m not going to…you could beg until your tongue drops, I’m not stopping this.”

Fredd stepped forward, gripping Zillon’s shoulder. “Take it easy, man.”

Zillon swallowed the tears that threatened to come out, his hands gripping the bars of the cell. “I knew it wasn’t right…to have two brothers fight for one title…I didn’t want to do it…I wasn’t going to. When I went to that cave…it wasn’t a matter of thinking I couldn’t beat you…I knew I could, but replaceing the courage to…that was my problem. I was torn between just giving you the title and fighting for it. It was said to be mine from the beginning and I didn’t know why you’d want to take it away from me. We were brothers Xavier…I’d never want to take something away from you…I was angry, but I understood. We were both Alpha’s…none of us wanted to be dormant and unused, none of us wanted to be pushed aside and forgotten. I get why you ran away, I’d have probably done the same, but I don’t understand the vengeance you carry.. why…why…?”

Zillon ran his hand through his hair, then gripped the cell bar again. “Why is it so much? Who is that vengeance really directed towards? Why are you doing this?”

“That’s none of your f*cking business.”

“It is my business…we’re brothers…we have the same b***d.”

“We aren’t brothers…not anymore.”

“B***d will always be b***d no matter what…”

“That’s what you think…just wait until I destroy you…” He looked towards Fredd. “You and the whole pack…Celeste included.”

“You’re right…because to be able to touch her, you’d really have to kill me first.”

“No, not r—”

“X-Xavier…”

Xavier tilted his head at the little, shaky voice, his heart pounding with the potency of a wrecking ball against his chest. “Celeste…?” He shuffled to bars of his cell, wanting to confirm if it really her. “How…why are you here…? I thought…are you crying?”
