The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 114 Book 2 Chapter 46
*BEFORE THE PREVIOUS CHAPTER*
“What’s so wrong with wanting to replace out if you were being played? We were so close…it couldn’t have all been fake. He told me to be strong, if not physically, then mentally…he taught me so many things, been there so many times, he even took care of me when I was sick. Why go so far for revenge? Something must be off, I can’t see myself believing that Xavier would order the rogues to kill anyone. He was so gentle, so pure…I need to hear him say it, the Xavier I know is way too nice to ruthlessly play somebody.”
Zillon sighed. “Sometimes I wish I could ignore that desperate look in your eyes. Everytime you beg…I give in.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “Is that why you always do it? Are you taking advantage of me?”
Celeste shook her head. “No…never, I just want to know what’s going on…I want to understand the situation. You say that I’m your Luna, doesn’t a Luna help her alpha? Especially in times like this.”
“And there you go again…saying something that can obviously make me give in…”
“But it’s true, isn’t it?”
Zillon sighed again, looking at the bottle he held. “It probably is, but I’m not sure if I trust this thing or Celia…what if she put something else in the bottle? What if it’s not mask, but something harmful?”
“You’re overthinking it…let me see.”
Zillon handed her the bottle and she pressed the top, spraying some into the palm of her hand.
“F*cking hell, Celeste…I didn’t tell you use it.”
He grabbed the bottle and then her hand, analyzing it. “Does it hurt?”
Celeste shook her head. “It feels like water…”
“Then do you think we’ve been tricked? It looks like water, it has no scent and it feels like water…”
“At least spray me down first.”
“No I’d prefer to risk Liam’s life instead of yours.”
“That’s f*cked up man!” Liam took a step back, eying Zillon as he leaned away from Celeste. “Don’t spray me with it, spray yourself.”
“If I spray myself, I won’t be able to go down and talk to Xavier… he’d know that my scent is gone, so I’ll spray it on you and then on Celeste if it works.”
“Why not test it out on Fredd first?”
“Because Fredd gives good advice, you on the other hand…” Zillon clicked his tongue, not even bothering to finish his last statement before starting another. “Come take the bottle and please preserve while using it.”
Liam shook his head so many times that it felt as though the world was rotating and yet still he had to do it. He took the bottle and sprayed himself down, then waited for a couple of seconds for himself to die.
Instead of dying though, his scent bacame distinct until it vanished into thin air…
“Holy f*ck! It worked.”
“How…? I don’t get how that’s possible, how can a scent just vanish, how could it be no more?”
“I don’t know, and I don’t care. But here you go Kitcat, we’re going to be invisible twins today. Nobody will be able to smell us…”

Celeste and Liam stayed behind as Fredd and Zillon went further down the dungeon floors to Xavier’s cell. Celeste was nervous, her hands were shaking so bad that she could hardly hold on to the hem of her blouse. She looked towards Liam. “Do you think it’s really him?”
“It’s not a matter of what I think…it’s a matter of what’s real…don’t be too surprised and don’t cry…I won’t be able to console you, I’d slap you senseless instead.”
Celeste laughed lightly…then stopped when the conversation between Zillon and Xavier began.
Halfway through the conversation, not only her hands shook, but her lips as well. Tears of disbelief wetted her once dry cheeks and her heart pained her greatly.
His words were so dry…so cruel…
The gentle ones were all a lie…those words of love, the ones that exuded the untrue fact that he cared…it was all a lie and only these ones were the truth…
‘She will always and forever be your weakness.’
A pawn, that’s exactly what he saw her as.
‘I will destroy you…you and the whole pack…Celeste included.’
And an obstacle easy to get rid of…
His feelings weren’t real, for if they were, those words would’ve never came out of his mouth…and yet despite hearing them, she found it hard to believe.
That she was just a tool for him to use…
That it was all fake…
That he was evil…
That he had the heart to kill her after nurturing her, taking care of her, protecting her, teaching her…
Celeste couldn’t believe…she…she just couldn’t…
With a heart dense with pain, she took a step forward, only stopping when Liam grabbed her hand. “What are you doing? Where are you going?”
Celeste pulled her hand out of his, continuing on her way towards Zillon, towards Xavier… Her voice broke as she called his name and her heart did the same when she spotted him in the corner of the cell. “X-Xavier…?”
Xavier tilted his head at the little, shaky voice, his heart pounding with the potency of a wrecking ball against his chest. “Celeste…? How…why are you here…? I thought…are you crying?”
Celeste moved to stand in front of Zillon, her teary eyes focused on the man in the corner of the cell. “Is it…is it true? Was it all a lie?”
