The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 22

“Then I; Celeste Morales rejects you Zil…”

Zillon acted as quick as his heartbeat when he crashed his lips against hers. He wasn’t even sure of his actions until it was already done.

The bad thing was that he had kissed her without permission, but the good thing was that he had stopped her from rejecting him. Should he pull away now then?

He should, but somehow he couldn’t bring himself to. Her lips tasted as good as the first time his lips had touch them despite how dry they were. They tasted like her scent; minty and not that he had tasted lotus flower before, but they had a hint of that too.

He couldn’t help himself, he had to get closer, he had to have more…

Climbing onto the bed, he brought his hand beneath her chin, using a finger to lift her head. His lips moved slowly against hers, exuding the passion hers wasn’t and though his hand aimed to pull her closer, hers only pushed him away.

Zillon understood her actions and he conceded to them. He pulled back, eyes replaceing hers. “At least k**s back, Celeste.”

Celeste shook her head, turning to face away from him. “I will not let you have to tell me that whatever we did —whether we k**s or we mate— means nothing to you. It doesn’t make sense we do it if it means nothing.”

“Right…” Zillon nodded, slowly crawling off of the bed and settling back into the chair. She was right, but that didn’t stop him from feeling dejected. “I understand what you mean, but can you not randomly throw rejection speech at me? I know that you want a rejection and you’ll certainly get it, but wait, you can reject me after you’re fully recovered. I won’t stop you then.”

“Why can I not do it now?”

“You’re already hurt, the rejection will only hurt you more. I think it’s safer to do it when you have sufficient strength. I don’t want it to kill you, I owe you as much as your life after making you want to take it…just wait a little longer.”

Celeste didn’t want to listen to him, but she nodded anyway, reaching pass him for the water that he had kept offering her. “I want to go back home as well, I don’t want to stay at your house anymore.”

Zillon shook his head. “You know how this works Celeste, women live at their parent’s house until their mates take them out. I am your mate, you won’t bring down shame on my name by giving people the idea that I’m not taking care of you, especially not my parents.”

“Then are you taking care of me?”

It took Zillon a while to answer and when he did, he answered honestly. “No bu—”

“But you want me to pretend that you do. I figured that much.” Celeste theorized, turning the water over her head. She drank a fair potion of it before pulling it away from her lips and placing it back on the bedside table. “I’ve done a lot of pretending before, I’ve pretended to be happy when I was sad and I’ve pretended to be loved when I felt insignificant and unwanted on the inside. So sure, I’ll do a great job pretending that we’re a match made in heaven.”

She repositioned herself and now instead of sitting, she laid on her side, facing away from Zillon. “Now if you’d give me some privacy, I want to be by myself.”

Zillon sighed. “Celeste…”

“Leave me alone.”

“Alright, but aren’t you hungry?”

“I’m not.”

“And you’re not going to do anything stupid when I leave, right?”

“No.”

“I have this feeling that you’re lying. Since you’re so good at pretending, pretend that I’m not here until tomorrow morning when the doctor comes to do a check up.”

“Sure.” Celeste covered her head with the pillow, making it clear that she’d definitely ignore the fact that he was here.

Beneath it, she took deep breaths, not being able to believe herself. She talked back to Zillon, told him she’d reject him and that she wouldn’t k**s him back.

It was the first time she’d ever done it and as an alpha, she thought his reaction would’ve been different. She thought he’d perhaps get angry, but why would he really get angry if a rejection was what he wanted?

But then again, why would he have cried for her and brought her to a hospital if he wanted her out of the picture?

Wouldn’t it have been better for him if she died?

Celeste didn’t care about his reasons for saving her, she might’ve pretended she didn’t want to be saved, but inside that house when she held the razor in her hand, she had prayed that he’d come back and stop her.

He had been late, but not late enough. He had held her so tight, and though he was strong, though he was a man, he cried for her to open her eyes…it was actually him who willed her to live, him who shook the life right back into her.

She should thank him for saving her from such a disastrous situation, but how could she when it was him who pinned her in it?

Sighing, Celeste closed her eyes. She couldn’t forgive him, no matter how worried about her he seemed. He was probably just doing it for the pack, doing it so they’d see him as their future alpha.

Celeste didn’t want to be fooled, she’d expect nothing from him and only then, she wouldn’t be able to get hurt.

With such thoughts, she drifted off to sleep, praying to God that tomorrow would be a better day.

A/N// Celeste is trying her best to not get hurt and I respect her for that. She had come a long way and I hope she really doesn’t let Zillon hurt her again.

Will she or will she not fall for Zillon again?
