The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 34

“Well until you do, my mind won’t change and my lack of conviction in you won’t either.”

“I understand.”

Silence descended between them after that, but Zillon’s arm was still locked around her waist, his body pressed closely against hers and It was like that until he decided that they had to eat something.

They walked downstairs, Zillon so close behind Celeste that if she made a sudden stop, he’d undoubtedly bump into her. He really did understand what she was saying, it was so easy to comprehend her emotions.

She didn’t trust him and he couldn’t blame her, she had every right not to. As he already established, he had hurt her tremendously, broken her heart one too many times. So if she was fond of him enough to lay in bed with him, to hold his hand, to one day forgive him, he was grateful.

For if he were her, he’d hate himself and the fact that she didn’t hate him was a miracle in itself.

Stepping off onto the flat surface of the living room, he followed Celeste as she headed straight for the hallway that’d lead her back to the dinner table.

She looked beautiful even from behind…the way her blond hair dangled behind her back and definitely the way her little body moved from side to side as she walked. Her a*s too protruded from her PJ’s, moving along with every step she took.

He wasn’t sure how he hadn’t noticed it before…how appealing she was to the eye, it was safe to say that she was prettier than Celia in her own way. She was the angelic type, the type that shined even when she was standing in the sun and Celia, well she was a temptation; she too was bright, but she was sometimes dark too…the revealing clothes the wore, the words she’d sometimes spew was something Celeste would never do.

They were different, unidentical in looks and in personality too.

Walking into the dining room behind Celeste, Zillon took a seat at the table and patted the seat beside him. “Are we going to eat the cold pancakes mom left or will you cook something else?”

Celeste stood before the table, indecisiveness clear in her eyes. “D-Do you want me to cook?”

“I do, but not now, I doubt the cut on your wrist is fully healed, let’s just eat what mom left us. Come here, sit beside me.”

Celeste wasn’t sure why, but she felt diffident. Perhaps it was the way he was looking at her or the difference in the way he treated her. Care seemed to be embedded in every word he said and that fact wouldn’t stop riling up her poor heart.

Nevertheless, she walked over to the table, taking a seat beside him. He pulled the plates closer, offering hers to her. “Here.”

Celeste shyly took it, her lips fumbling even as she mumbled out a quiet… “Thank you.”

She reached for the fork and quietly they are until Zillon disturbed the silence.

“Wait, where are my parents?”

“I…” Celeste looked around, just now realizing that they were missing. “I don’t know, perhaps they’re in their room.”

“Or perhaps not, they’re more or likely somewhere outside discussing our future.”

Celeste swallowed what was in her mouth, placing the fork down. “Ohhhh.”

“Mom’s really disappointed in me though. I understand why, but still…” He placed his fork down as well, eying Celeste. “They know what went on between us and mom hates me because of what I did to you.”

“B-But why? I’m the one she should hate, I’m the hindrance in your life, I was the one who made you unhappy.”

“You weren’t a ‘hindrance’ Celeste, you were my mate.”

“I was an unwanted mate.”

“But you aren’t anymore…”

“That’s truly hard to believe.”

“I know, but believe me Celeste, I want you…I always have.”

“Bu—”

“Kitten…I’m okay with you not believing me, but don’t sell yourself short…” He turned in his seat, now facing her. “You weren’t an hindrance, you weren’t unwanted, I was a fool.”

“But y—”

He reached for her face, gently holding her chin captive. “It was hard holding back, it’s even harder now that I’ve decided to accept my feelings. Stop doubting yourself, you weren’t the problem, I was.”

He let her loose, easing out of his chair. “I’m done eating, if you’re finished, can we go back upstairs?”

Celeste bit her bottom l*p as she looked down at her half empty plate. “Well I…I’m done, but I want to take a shower, I haven’t showered since I came here last night.”

“Right, come on.”

Celeste followed him up the stairs to what he introduced to her was the bathroom.

“There’s a towel on the inside and if you need anything else, you can ask me since I’m going to be in there too.”

“W-What?”

“I’m coming i—”

“No.”

“Bu—”

“No.” Celeste twisted the knob on the door, then pushed it open. “I-I’ve never heard of rut killing an alpha in fifteen minutes or killing them at all for that matter.”

“Maybe it happened, but we just never heard about it.”

“Well… then does mean you’re in pain?”

“No, I just want to be near, I want to touch you; more than you’ll allow, but that’s okay…I’ll endure it, I’m an alpha after all, but can I at least come in, I won’t come near the shower curtain unless you ask me to.”

“No, I’ll be out in a second.”

“A second means an hour…women always shower as if they want to strip their body of skin.”

Celeste stepped beyond the doorway with a sigh, she couldn’t believe Zillon was behaving like this, Zillon of all people. The rut truly affected him; in more ways than one…

First it made him decided that he wanted her and he probably does not.

And secondly, it’s making him want to stick to her like glue, perhaps he was thinking of her as Celia, it was comforting, but the fact that he could change after the rut went away, made accepting thisaide of him harder than it should be.

He had never clung to her before, he had never told her that he wanted her, never touched her lovingly except for that time when they mated and he had never been one to speak to her kindly. Everything was different now and if she wasn’t careful, she’d be swayed into believing him and then she’d end up hurt again.

What she needed wasn’t to get close to him, she needed to get far away. She needed to think, to come to terms with the facts and accept life for what it is, and in this life, Zillon wasn’t hers.

“I’m sorry, but you can’t come in here.”

And then in his face, she closed the door, resting her back against it. She needed to accept that simple fact and prepare herself for the rejection.

A/N// Celeste keeps confusing her emotions, she’s trying to protect herself😩she keeps evading her true feelings in order to not fall into Zillon’s trap.

How sad…my poor girl keeps running away from her happiness.
