The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 33
She turned her back to him, grasping the doorknob, but unfortunately, she wasn’t able to twist it…
Zillon’s hand wrapped around hers, stopping her every movement. “I get it, I’ve done you wrong so many times, but you don’t have to believe me now, I’ll give you the time you need. It took me this long to choose you, I don’t care how long it’ll take you to choose me, it won’t even matter after you do. Dad’s words paid off, you’ve been the strong one all this time, even when I pushed you away you refused to hide your feelings. You were in so much pain and you endured it for me, an ideal Luna, you care not just about yourself, but about others too. I thought about it last night, the moon goddess was never wrong, I was…for ignoring your pain, for being selfish, only you with a loving heart can lead this pack and teach me how to do it too.”
He let her hand loose and instead wrapped his arm around her wa!st. “I’ll give you time, but I can’t live without physical contact right now. We don’t have to mate, I just want you close…can I lay with you?”
Celeste turned in his arms to look at him, indecisiveness in her eyes. “Zillon…I-I can’t, yo—”
“Please, I won’t go overboard, I won’t force you to do what you don’t want to.”
“But…But…” Celeste sighed, austerity then taking a firm stance across her beautiful face. “Alright, but if you do go overboard, I’m going to reject you whether I die or not.”
“I understand, Kitten, now come.” He took ahold of her hand, hauling her over to the bed. He laid her down first, then settled behind her. Celeste could hear the pulsing of her heart in her ch.est when his body pressed against hers, his arm settling densely around her wa!st.
It felt weird that Zillon was doing such a thing with her, but it felt good as well; the warmth his body exuded and the sensation it induced. She felt as though she was laying in a bed of roses, this was her wonderland; him finally accepting her
Celeste pushed back even closer to him, her hand gripping the arm that was wrapped around her. “Not that I believe you, b-but what about Celia?”
“I’ll break it off with her as soon as we get back and when you’re ready, you’ll be introduced to the pack and the mating ceremony will be kept…”
“B-But don’t you love her anymore? Everything you’ve done thus far was for her? A-Are you sure you want to choose me? Are y-you su—?”
“Shhh Kitten, I can hear the shake in your voice, you’re nervous, aren’t you? You really don’t believe me and I understand. I’ll tell you the truth, I’ll be honest.” He propped up his head on his free hand and then began to speak. “I’m still fund of her, more than I am of you. But that’s probably because I’ve known her longer than I have known you. I’m not sure if what’s between us was really love or rather a connection I was too afraid to sever. You see, she’s the one who made me who I am today and maybe I felt that if I lost her, I’d lose myself too. You probably don’t understand, but it’s the truth.”
“T-Then why choose to sever that connection now?”
“Because I think the connection between you and I have the potential to grow, it could’ve flourished a long time ago if I had given it a chance to.”
“I still don’t understand, how can you so easily give up on Celia when you didn’t want to before?”
“I don’t understand it either, but I’m sure of one thing, I don’t want to see you hurting yourself again, not on the count of me. It had always hurt when you cried, but the pain was unbearable when I saw you laying almost lifeless on my bathroom floor and even more so when you were stringed up in that hospital room.”
“Bu—”
“Stop questioning it, Kitten, just work towards giving me a chance. Take however long you want, I’ll wait.”
Celeste sighed, relaxing her shoulders. “But should I really give you a chance? How can I be sure that you won’t change your mind? I’m sorry for not trusting you, but it’s inevitable.”
“I kno—”
“You don’t, you really don’t understand how it feels to be unwanted all your life. When you marked me that night, my expectations were so high, I was so happy. I always wanted a mate because I thought that if everybody rejected me, he wouldn’t. But guess what, he did and yet I still tried my best to please him, I wanted him to choose me so bad and when he didn’t, I lost hope. Nobody wanted me, and I’m sure nobody still doesn’t.”
“Celes—”
“Don’t try to convince me, I’ve known myself long enough to know that things never end with me being happy. I’m always the one left out, the one in the corner without a smile on the face. It’s probably going to be the same now. You’re going to choose me now, but as soon as you see her again, your choice will change and I’ll be left in the corner again. If that’s how it’s going to be, then please don’t be selfish anymore, let me reject you.”
“That’s not how it’s going to be, I promise. I’ll break it off with her and I’ll show you that my choice will remain the same.”
“Well until you do, my mind won’t change and my lack of conviction in you won’t either.”
A/N// Even as the author, I did not see this coming. Our poor Celeste is standing up for herself now, she doesn’t want to hurt anymore, she wants to be sure and I don’t wrong her.
