The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 54

Celeste whimpered, shaking her head at Zillon when he eased out of his seat. “This one is between us now.” She grumbled out, turning back to face Celia. She smiled almost bitterly, sadness glossing over her eyes. “I guess I won’t be seeing you soon after all.”

“What?”

“Remember what you said that day I was leaving home to come here? You said Zillon would kick me out so you’ll be seeing me soon, you were…you were wrong.”

Celia’s grip on Celeste tightened, something far darker that a moonless night in her eyes. “I was never wrong, it was you who did something to him…you witch.”

“I di-didn’t do anything, what could I have done? I was so pitiful for years, I lived unwanted all my life and now that someone finally wants me, you’re not happy. I-I would’ve been happy for you despite how bad you treated me, I would’ve encouraged instead of degraded you. No matter how many times you’ve wronged me, I’ve never wronged you. You already have mom and dad, you also have the whole pack, just leave me with the one person I have on my side.”

Celia’s lips wobbled, her hand slackening around Celeste’s until it fell by her side.

“I-I was never really envious of you when you were out there being happy, I just wanted to be happy too. We were twins, you treated me as though we were equals when we were kids, you defended me when mom and dad would call me weak, but somewhere along the lines I guess the praises, the favouritism got to you, and now you always strive to be on top. Everytime I tried making a friend, you’d take them away from me, it’s like you wanted everybody to favour you, you wanted everyone to see you and not me. Why though?” Celeste rubbed her hand, eyes dropping to the floor. “Why did you detest me being happy? Why did you scrape all the attention to yourself? We could’ve shared just like we use to back then, we could’ve still been best friends, but you ruined everything.”

Celia turned away, her eyes too falling to the floor as she spoke. “You don’t deserve to be happy, someone as weak and disgusting as you deserves no joy. Back then, it was pity that made me talk to you, but now, I pity you no more. I will come back for what’s mine, even if it’s after the mating ceremony. Zillon belongs to me, he was mine before he was yours, you’re the one stealing my happiness.”

“You’re wrong, Zillon was mine before he was ever yours. I was the one…I was the one who spoke to him that da—”

“Shut up, leave that out of this, he’s mine either way and I will take him.” She turned her back to Celeste, but just before she walked out, she muttered these words. “I’ll show you how unwanted really feels, this time you won’t just slit your wrist you’ll slit your throat.”

And then she showed herself out.

Celeste breathed out the breath she’d been holding back for so long, her hand grabbing onto her aching chest.

“Are you alright, Celeste?” Zillon wrapped an arm around her waist, eying her curiously. “I’m really sorry this had to happen.”

“It’s not your fault, I knew it would’ve happened if you chose me.”

“If? Celeste do you still not trust me?”

“I-I do.”

“You don’t, but then again, I can’t blame you…after all I’ve done, you have every right to not trust me..” He sighed. “I’ll get you to trust me though, this is the first step. After the mating ceremony, you’ll see how devoted I am.”

He walked her back over to the couch, sitting her down. “Is that how hard your life had been? I didn’t know you had endured so much, did your parents really bully you as a kid?”

“I suppose so, they were both strong and yet I was born weak. I guess that’s what stemmed their anger, but I never blamed or hated them, they are my parents after all.”

“I wholly understand that, but they were your parents, they could’ve looked pass the fact that you were weak, but comparing myself to them, I was exactly the same.”

“But at least you’re better now, at least you chose me.” She looked over at him, shakily smiling. “Thank you.”

“You don’t need to thank me, Kitten. I made a promise and I’ll stand by it forever, you’re mine, I’m yours and it’ll always be that way.”

He pulled her into his embrace. “Nothing she does can ever make me leave you, I’ll never put you in a situation where you’ll feel unwanted again.”

Celeste shuffled closer to him, dwelling in the comfort of his scent. “I hope so.”

And she really did, she could trust him wholly now, she could give herself to him with no regrets and she couldn’t be happier. He had proven himself, showed her her worth…this was where she belonged; in the safety of his arms…forever.
