The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 71 Book 2 Chapter 3

Zillon glared up from his desk at one of the pack members who had entered his office. The man’s face looked as though it was melting, his fear almost tangible. He was just about ready to sh*t his pants. “A-Alpha…we have yet to catch a whiff of her scent, we searched near, we searched far and yet we couldn’t replace her.”

Zillon chuckled, the sound blatantly humourless. “The people who recommended you to me as one of the best trackers are mere fools who deserve death. For how could have a nose better than even mine and don’t know how to even use it?”

“Alpha I…something must’ve went wrong…sh—”

“Get out.”

“Alpha—”

“Two months, you idiots have been searching for two months…how much more times must I threaten you all before really biting off your necks?”

“We’re sorry alpha.”

“I didn’t ask for an apology, all I ask is that you replace her…if another month goes by and she’s not by my side, then you people won’t just call me feral, you’ll see me as a f*cking murderer.”

“Yes alpha…” He bowed his head and walked out of the office.

Zillon watched as he left, the door closing behind him. Everything in his life had watered down to nothing, he had acquired the alpha position, but he wasn’t happy…not without her…

That night he should’ve waited for her instead of wandering off by himself, that night….

Zillon rubbed the bracelet around his wrist, his heart beating heavy against his chest. He missed her, his Celeste, his Kitten…

She had left him with nothing but her clothes in the closet and her scent was slowly but surely dissipating off of each and everyone of them.

He knew why she left, but it was hardly his fault, he had made a grave mistake, he thought he was doing the right thing…he thought…he thought…

Zillon ran a hand through his hair, pulling hard at the beautiful, black strands. The moon goddess was cruel…to both him and Celeste…

She had put them together only to continuously tear them apart. He hated her, so damn much!

It’s been two months since he had been blessed enough to behold Celeste’s beauty, to hear her voice and touch her soft skin….

He didn’t know when he’d see her again, but he hoped he’d see her soon.

He wasn’t even sure if she had willingly crossed the borders or if she had been forcibly pulled over it. But if she had willingly crossed it, then she was undoubtedly somewhere with his…his brother and if she had been forced to cross it, then who would’ve been brave enough to kidnap her but the same damn person; his brother!

He could only hope that wherever she was, she was okay and if she was, he could only hope that she missed him too, that she still loved him and that she was still his…

His mark on her neck must’ve faded by now and again he could only hope somebody else’s wasn’t there, especially not his brother’s…

Letting his hair loose, he sighed. If he weren’t so foolish and selfish, none of this would’ve happened. If only he had been thinking straight… if only he had foreseen it….

Maybe then Celia wouldn’t have been able to f—

Zillon looked towards the door when it was once again pushed open. This time it wasn’t one of his stupid pack members, but instead Liam and Fredd.

“When are you going to stop threatening your pack members?” Liam sighed. “What if they run away and leave you here like Celeste did?”

“I wouldn’t care, I just want her back…she’s mine Liam and yet he…he took her just like he wanted to take my seat as alpha. I’ll dislodge his head from his body the very moment I replace him, I swear.”

“He’s your brother Zillon.” Fredd inputted.

“No brother would’ve done this to his own b***d…do you know how painful this is? I don’t sleep at night, all I do is worry about her. He’s aware of what will happen to an alpha if he doesn’t have a mate…he knows and yet he…”

“I get it Zillon…you’re hurt, but killing him will only pain your heart more. You haven’t seen or scented him out for years, how about thinking of catching up…? How abou—?”

“The only thing I can think about is feeling his b***d running like water down my throat.”

“Zillon…!”

Zillon glared over at Fredd. “Leave.”

“I’m not going anywhere. You need to fight it, I understand that it’s hard, but you can’t let it control you…”

“And what if it controls me? Wouldn’t it numb all this pain I keep feeling…? Wouldn’t I be alright then?”

“And then what will happen to Celeste when you eventually replace her? Will you mindlessly kill her.”

“I’d never, Celeste is too precious to be killed, especially by me…”

“Which is why you need to fight, if not for your pack, then for her.”

Zillon g*****d, his chest cramping. “I’ll fight it, I will…I promise…for Celeste I’d do anything.”

“Then how about we restart our hunt? The trackers can continue tracking, but why not make their work easier? Why not help?”

Zillon shook his head. “No, you know what happened last time…I almost killed a pack member.”

“But you didn’t, did you?”

“No bu—”

“We’ll be there, we’ll stop you if anything happens, right Liam?”

Liam nodded at Fredd, pumping his fist into the air. “Right, we’ll be there, we’ll help…so therefore let’s restart ‘mission: Find Celeste’ tomorrow morning.”
