The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 90 Book 2 Chapter 22
*FLASHBACK* *CEREMONY NIGHT*
Zillon sat beside Fredd and Liam on the steps of the podium where the ceremony would be held, hands under his chin as he looked about in wonder. “Ten years Liam, ten years and the first time I saw him, he was flirting with my mate. Is this a curse or a blessing? I found him and yet he again wants to take something valuable away from me.”
“How would he be able to take Celeste away from you? The ceremony is tonight…you guys are going mark each other again and then f*ck like bunnies after, how will Xavier be able to break apart a matebond so strong anyway?”
“I know it isn’t possible, but can a man not worry? I’m basically getting married.”
“Married? Do you think you’re a human?” Fredd interjected.
Zillon chuckled. “I’m not, but isn’t it the same thing, I was going to buy her a ring, but I saw this instead.” He pulled the gold bracelet from his pocket, staring down at it in awe. “And isn’t it ironic that she bought me the same one too…except instead of pink diamonds…it’s blue…”
“Ye right, not ironic, it’s just a coincidence.”
“Shut up, Liam…” He stuffed the bracelet back into his pocket and inhaled deeply the fresh air that dwelled around him. “She’s angry at me though, I was a bastard to her earlier, I called her a two-timer even though I know she’d never cheat on me…she cried.”
“When are you going to stop doing that? The last you got angry at me you outright told me that you should’ve left me to drown that Christmas I fell under the ice while playing around with you. If I didn’t know you better, I’d have taken it to heart.”
“That’s not half bad Liam, that bastard told me that If it weren’t for him, I would still be a nerd wishing to get my virginity taken back in highschool when I f*cked Latty at the party.”
“But I wanted to f*ck her too.”
“You still could’ve, did she not have a hole left?”
“Shut up, Fredd…I know I’m pretty, I know I have issues and I will get them sorted. She easily cries, everything I tell her makes an impact on her and I can’t keep disrespecting her when my head goes ‘boom’.”
“Ye, she’s an omega after all, she’s sensitive to stuff you and I wouldn’t even mind…”
“That’s why I’m trying…I was going to keep my cool, but the fact that it was Xavier and the fact that he put his hands on her had my rationality switching off. I apologized in a note though, if everything goes well, she’ll be here in one…two…three…” Zillon looked around not spotting or picking up her scent anywhere. “Alright not three, perhaps in five? One… Two…three…four…five…”
Still nothing…
Zillon jumped up off the step. “That’s it, I’m going to the tent, I’ll change before she comes, everything is almost set. If she comes looking for me, send her there please.”
Zillon walked forward, bumping into Celia on his way. She was holding a tray of cups, filled with juice.
He averted his eyes away from her, preparing to walk away when she stopped him with two words. “I’m sorry…”
He turned to her. “You should say that to your sister.”
“I know and I will…I’ve taken up serving the drinks and food at the ceremony as an apology. I’m sorry for all that I’ve said to her, you’re right…you should be with your mate, there’s no bond between us and one day, I’ll replace a mate that’ll love me too…we’ll have a bond just like you and Celeste, we’ll be happy.”
Zillon tilted his head in confusion for a second, then smiled at her. “I hope you’ll replace him soon.”
“Let’s cheers to that…as not lovers, but as friends.”
She offered him a drink from her tray and took one up for herself. “To our mates.”
Celia was the first to down her glass and then Zillon did the same.
“Thanks for forgiving me and thanks for finally accepting your sister.” He placed the cup back on the tray, then waved as he walked away.
It seems everything was going well, Celia didn’t wish to break them apart anymore, instead she was rooting for them as a friend. It was ironic and unbelievable, but anybody can change, right?
Even him…
Walking towards the tent, he sighed, unbuttoning the top of his shirt. He was ready to commit himself to Celeste now, he’d love her with all his heart and he’d undoubtedly continue t—
In suddenness, Zillon staggered forward almost falling on his face, his eyes slowly started to become blurry, but he ignored it when he caught of a whiff of Celeste’s scent.
He staggered forwards as he followed it, eyes replaceing her leant against a tree not far from the tent. She was wearing a jeans and a sweater, not something somebody going to a ceremony would wear.
When he caught up to her, he lifted her face which was hung low so she could look at him. At first, the blurriness of his eyes found Celia, but when it cleared, Celeste was who he was looking at; her blue eyes filled with tears.
“Celeste what’s wrong?”
She wiped her eyes, then gripped the hem of her sweater. “I don’t know if I can do this.”
“Do what?”
“T-The ceremony…”
Zillon’s heart felt as though it was in a cage too small for it to fit. “What?”
“A-After today…I-I realized that I’m not ready, that we aren’t. I’m still self-conscious about Celia, W-What if you leave me for her again?”
“I won’t, I told you already…I love you and I always will…nobody can take me away from you, not even her…”
“But you and her a…what about tonight?”
“The ceremony has already started, but I can cancel it if you want, I’d do anything for you, Kitten…”
“Then do…I…I…”
“It’s alright, Kitten. It’s probably hard to trust me after all I’ve done to you, but it’s alright.”
He leaned in, kissing her against the forehead. “I’ll go tell them to cancel the ceremony for now, wait here, I’ll be back…”
He opted to walk away, but Celeste stopped him. “I’m sorry too.” She tipped up on her toes, her lips catching his.
*END OF FLASHBACK* *PRESENT*
“I later found out that it wasn’t you, it was Celia. There was no trace of her scent and what she was wearing were your clothes which caused her to smell just like you… The doctor wasn’t sure what was in the drink that she gave me, but it was something that made me hallucinate, I saw what I wanted to and that night, I desperately wanted to see you.”
“That’s the worst lie a liar could tell, Celia and I aren’t identical twins, our scents are alike, but they are different…do you think I’m a fool?”
“Think about it, Celeste…you said the night Xavier came into this house you couldn’t scent him and I couldn’t scent Celia’s scent either. We don’t know what they used to hide their scents, but don’t you think it’s the same thing?”
