Zillon breathed hard against her, his hands clenched as he endured the awful pain until it was bearable. He had been so scared before, but the fact that her arms were now around him had him feeling nothing but security and pride…

She had canceled her rejection, his kitten had saved his life…he wasn’t sure why, since he deserved the pain for putting her through so much, but he was grateful to her.

She said she didn’t want to break the bond, she said she didn’t want a rejection, she said she didn’t want him to die…her words sounded so heart-wrenching, so darn miserable that he knew she meant them.

She really didn’t want a rejection, she really didn’t want him to die and what in this world could make him happier?

After successfully replaceing her, this was the first time he got a chance to see ‘his’ Celeste, the one he had been in love with for a little over a month… She wasn’t ignoring his feelings, his words or him overall, instead, she was crying against his shoulder, begging him to not die.

Zillon thought her love for him had departed, but she was now giving him hope that things could go back to how they once were, hope that they could be as happy as they once were in the near future… hope that one day up ahead, she’d be his and his alone.

Pulling back and away from her, Zillon assessed her awfully wet face, not hesitating to wipe the salty waters from her beautiful, cherry red cheeks. “I’m alright now, Kitten…I promise.”

Celeste’e eyes floated up to meet his, her eyes still shedding tears, her lips still trembling. “I…I’m sorry.”

“I know…I understand…you’re hurt, I put you through a lot of pain, it’s probably hard to believe or forgive me, but it’s the truth…I really didn’t know what I was doing…after replaceing out what happened, I searched for you until I fell sick…I was so restless without you, I felt so helpless…you were my rock, my calm pill and when you left, I practically lost it. You weren’t the beautiful sunshine in my bed anymore, you were only a dream that’d vanish as soon as I woke up…every morning without you my heart would ache…I missed you so much.”

He cupped her cheek, leaning in to rest his forehead against hers. “I…you don’t know how painful those two months without you were… Fredd and Liam had to run the pack since the members were afraid to even talk to me, I snapped at little things, I really didn’t care about their problems, it was insignificant…only you were important…only you reigned on top of my heart like a queen. I know it’s too much to ask, I know it’s hard, but believe me, take me back…love me again…I can’t live without you.”

Celeste turned to face away from him. “I…I don’t love you anymore.”

Zillon’s finger settled under her chin, repositioning her head so she faced him. “That’s a lie…you can lie to me, but don’t lie to yourself. You still love me, don’t you? Though the bond between us had slightly abated, it’s still strong, I can feel it, I can feel you…please tell me that you feel me too…”

Celeste bit her lips, shaking her head. “I don—”

“The truth, Celeste…I want the truth, is all your feelings for me really gone?”

“I…you…” Celeste’s shoulders sagged, a long breath sweeping across her lips as she surrendered to his question. “No…”

“And do you love Xavier more than you do me?”

“N-No…”

“Then give me a chance to prove myself to you. I can change, I promise I will, just tell me what you don’t like about me, I’ll change that aspect of me just for you…please Celeste, give me a chance.”

“No…”

“Kitten please.”

Celeste shook her head. “I meant that I don’t want you to change for me, do it for yourself…want to be better for yourself…”

“Then does that mean you’ll give me a chance? Does that mean you’ll love me again…?”

Celeste shrugged, showing him just how unsure and insecure she was. “I don’t know if you’re telling the truth, I don’t know if you’ll really change or if the same things will keep on reoccurring…I don’t know what’ll happen and I don’t want to go back down that road, I don’t want to cry more than how I smile…I don’t want to make the wrong choice.”

“You won’t…this isn’t a matter about choice, I’m the only one made for you, Xavier is out of the picture.”

He leaned in, not hesitating to take her bottom l*p between his, his heart fluttering in his chest as he did so, his fingers climbing their way up to her blond locks, weaving through them.

All he felt was a bliss that hadn’t visited him in a long time, despite the fact that her lips laid still against his moving ones.

For Celeste, it was the same, his lips against hers was a bliss she had forsaken but could never forget…It felt as good as it always did, tingles ran like spiders up her spine and warmth diffused throughout her entire body and yet, she could do nothing but pull away. “Zillon…?”

Zillon leaned back in, so close to her face that they were breathing the same air. “I… It’s hard holding back…I feel like I accomplished something, I feel like we’ve grown closer tonight and that tomorrow we’ll be together again…I can feel the bond, it’s growing again…urging me to get closer.” As he said so, Zillon scooted closer to her. “It wants me to lean in again…it’s begging me to, but should I?”

His hand reached up towards her face, his thumb running along her lips. “Or perhaps it isn’t the mate bond, perhaps it’s just me who’s dying to k**s you and me who can hardly hold back…I had waited two months to see you again and spent days in agony to get through to you…I can’t wait anymore, I’m your mate…your alpha, will you really stop me from reclaiming you as mine?”

Celeste’s eyes fluttered away, her heart beating like drums against her chest. “Zillon I…”

“You’re still the same after all, you were my little kitten and you still are. You’ve always been like this, you want something but too shy to go for it…in that case, I’ll take the initiative.”

He leaned even closer and once again, Celeste’s lips were between his.
